I ask because there are still some prospects out there worth taking a look at. I also think Meyer being who he is likes to promote competition. That means giving Barrett someone to compete with. What is every bodies thoughts? I know we are really trying to get some more play makers and at least Pocic as far as OL go, but QB is the most important position on the field. The more talent and the more competition I think only means better play on game day. These reduced schollies are really a pain.

I like the idea of one QB per class. There will be constant competition at QB because only one guy typically plays meaningful minutes. With Braxton and Cardale ahead of him and at least one behind him, there will be plenty of competition.
I still think that a decent recruiting plan is to essentially bring in a starting line up each year. Depending on injuries, transfers, people not panning out you might need to adjust a little bit, but essentially having 2-3 recievers per class, 4-5 o linemen per class, a tight end, 1-2 running backs, and a qb is what you need for offense. Similar structure for defense, with some players being fluid between positions at times.
I think it looks like it's done AS OF NOW being the key words....I think they want to see how things shake out at other spots...2014 has multiple talented QBs who like the Buckeyes so they can afford to take Barrett only
Also, keep in mind if Cardale Jones redshirts, he and Barrett are the same year, meaning they will compete to succeed Braxton...Barrett enrolls in January so that should be fun to watch :)
Yah I do really like that Barker kid in the 14 class. I have seen a lot of the recruiting websites list him as a pro style qb instead of a dual threat? From looking at the film he looks to be a legitimate 4.6 to 4.7 40 guy as a soph and his stat sheet definately shows that he runs the ball alot. His mechanics aren't bad to boot. I just have been really high on Chapman out of Kent and cant understand why the staff wouldnt pursue a kid as talented as he is in their own back yard. Hes got the arm strength the speed and athleticism to make a good qb. His stat sheet also shows that he makes pretty good decisions with the ball as you can see by the td to interception ratio. I dont know just my thoughts.
My guess would be that it is. With Barrett in the fold and Trubisky committing elsewhere the signs are pretty apparent to me that we are done at QB this year.
We can only hope!!! QB is the most important position on the field as we all know but I feel really good where we're at with the quarterbacks. We got 2 more years of Braxton (after this season), Barrett is waiting in the wings as the likely successor and we will get another QB in 2014. No need for another QB whatsoever.
Definitely agree with you there, Johnny. I live in the Macedonia area, so I'm going to try and make my way to Kent this fall to see a game of his. He has a ton of athleticism but does seem to have a decently firm grasp on the QB position, for sure. Here's hoping the Trubusky decision bring an offer Travon's way.
I'm okay with only taking Barrett in this class, but I've been curious why the staff isn't high on Chapman. Does anyone know why Chapman hasn't been offered?
