Hypothetical question of the day

In a hypothetical situation would you trade NHL CBJ to  Cleveland in trade for the NBA Cavs? I grew up in the Cleveland area and now live in C-bus. I've noticed IMO that Cleveland is more receptive to Hockey then Columbus is and I think that Basketball would do well in C-bus. Keep in mind that this is purely hypothetical and just a curious question on a slow sports day.

As a Clevelander, we do have the Lake Erie Monsters that play in the same arena as the Cavs. But if I lived in Columbus, I don't think I would make that trade. Just wish the Blue Jackets were better, although I could say the same thing about every other Ohio team (Cincinnati sports excluded). Would be interesting though.

Personally I am not really that into hockey, I could take it or leave it. I'd pay to watch a NBA game before NHL but that is not saying much. I think C-bus would support it tremendously and I could see it being a hit here. I know for a fact that high school kids were playing hockey in Cleveland way before high school kids in C-bus plus Cleveland has had minor league hockey for a longer period of time then in C-bus. I think it would be a good trade for both ciites.

50-50 on this idea. While I could see Cleveland being more pro-hockey at this point, Jason pointed out that keeping the CBJ in Columbus might be smart due to population shifts (Columbus getting bigger, Cleveland getting smaller, actually much smaller). In the end I'd just like to see the CBJ stay in Ohio. They've doled out some serious coin for players recently Carter, Wisniewski(sp?) and Johnson, and have done nothing, which is primarily due to the fact that the front office still thinks that Mason is the answer in the net. The CBJ need a goalie more than they need anything else.

While i am cleveland sport everything else...i did not start watching hockey til about 10-12 years ago when my family moved to Northern Virginia. I used to feel the same way about hockey, adaman...until i went to my first game. I could see that if you've been to a game watching Columbus then i would understand. But watching a hockey team like the Capitals and just being there and how crazy that place has gotten and how adament some people are on hockey, it ranks right behind College football for me in live sporting events. If you haven't been i just suggest catching a good game in person

Man I want to see the Jackets succeed. They have had one of the premier goal scorers in the NHL for their entire life as a franchise and haven't been able to give him anything to work with. They've thrown some good money at bad with Carter and especially Wiz but getting Carter ultimatley got them Johnson who can be a premier 2 way defender in this league. Bone crushing D Men with a missile of a shot don't come around often.

It will get better for the franchise but they really need to start drafting better. There might not be a team in the NHL with more under utilized potential than the Jackets. They had all of the makings of a ferocious front line with Nash, Broussard, and Voracek. I thought that was going to be a 200 plus point line for my beloved Hawks to deal with for a long time.

4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off

Love hockey, Hate NBA.  Different strokes for different folks.  I would like to see the CBJ stay.  Hate the name Blue Jackets.  A friend of mine is a UM fan and when she goes to the Blue Jackets game she always yells "Go Blue!"  That should never happen in Columbus, alas I digress.

I have been to about 20 CBJ games in my life. I've enjoyed the games but  for some reason I can't get into hockey. It may be that I am a giraffe on the ice but I just don't see the thrill that everyone else does. I don't hate the sport and I will continue to go a few times a season but if I had a choice I'd rather go to a Cavs game, and I have to admit that NBA is getting worse and worse every year. I have never been to a NHL game that wasn't CBJ so I can not tell you what it might be to follow a winning team.

Columbus could be a hockey town if the Blue Jackets would ever do anything...but since it seems highly unlikely that they will I would be in favor of the Cavs.

We have a hockey team in Columbus? Well, then, yes I would be willing to trade for the Cavs. Straight up trade.

@ Toledo - Absolutely agree. I want to know what marketing moron thought up ANYTHING with blue in the rallying cry would work in Columbus. NYC Madison Ave jackass. Oh "BJ" is so much better to yell out  - "Go BJ's".  Effing brilliant.

Maybe because it is a reference to the Civi War? I love how we sit here on this site and go well the SEC lost the thing that mattered most, the Civil War, but then once we actually name a team with respect to said conflict we disparage it. Cool double standard bro.

What? I just meant "Blue always = Michigan" in my mind. And people at the game joke about BJ = blowjob.

Not intended to disparge.  It is just a bsd name considering its tied to blue.  iIonically The Red Wings are tied to the color Red.  But they don't have Scarlet in the name ala BLUE jackets.
