PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
wilson..i think we already have rbs like green. plus dontre seems more versatile and is like lamichael james IMO
i agree BUCKSLAX. i remember reading (probably here) that meyer had problems at florida when he couldn't get his power running game going. he had a lot of those little florida scat backs (similar to dontre wilson or any number of scUM rb's under dickrod). they're versatile, but not much help running between the tackles. especially with the qb being a running threat in the spread, but not wanting to take too much of a pounding, you need power backs. many of the current backs on our roster are just that. with dunn and ball being freshman this year, it takes the pressure off meyer on grabbing a top rb like green and go for a versatile back who can be spread out, catch out of the backfield, and return punts/kickoffs if necessary. plus we already have a GREAT chance at landing wilson. it's like a one bird in the hand two in the bush kind of deal...
Give me Green
I like Wilson. He has speed and elusiveness. He seems like he would fit Urban's offense better.
No way. They have been praising Wilson all camp. Dunn and Ball are the same type as Green.
Yeah, you showed him a year and 3 months later
Looks like I got him good. Next time I will concentrate on when the topic was formed. Go Bucks!
I say Green for sure. Kid is super fastband can run with power.
I take D.Green ... He has plenty of speed, but he also has that power as well ... Hopefully he can catch out of the back field ... now if he can't catch I'd take D.Wilson ...
I would take Green, but I wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up with Wilson.

Wilson is all Ducks... wake me when he makes an official
Cause I couldn't go for three
Bump. He made an official!
(I have no idea how I just stumbled across this thread, seriously - it's weird, but given all the positives coming out on Wilson, I thought it might be interesting to comment on it.)
Edit..Always liked EZE over Green too...

I was never a big fan of Green. I'm extremely happy with the way things played out.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
LOL, I'll take Dontre. Derrick Green seems like somebody that would go to ichigan (vomit)
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Agree with RAMPAGE that he seems to be leaning Oregon. Between him and Green, though, I'd take Green. IMHO the staff would take both.
Lightning or sludge?
I had this question on a test once. The answer is lightning.
That is correct sir, +1 for you.
This thread is good proof that 95% of us have no idea what we are talking about when we say "I'd rather have....." or "We need...."
Well to be fair, this thread was made all the way back in May 2012 so things can change.
This thread is just as stupid now as it was back then... They aren't even meant for the same position
Haha, agreed. I would like both. But EZE is a bit more versatile so our 2 fit a lot better into this offense. I would have preferred if Green went to VT or somewhere else down there.
Urban would've been able to work with Green just like he did with Hyde, but he got the guys that fit his/Herman's offense and those are the guys that will excel in the system. Hoke got the guy for his offense as well, and that's good for the rivalry.
Hindsight is 20/20 we got a lighting fast speedster who everyone is raving about they got a guy who came to camp 20lbs overweight good choice Urbz!
I'm glad we got the guy we did.
Green wouldn't have lost his black stripe yet.

This is why I don't predict who the next commits are and what the class will end up as. Back then, nobody thought Dontre was going anywhere but Oregon and Green was very likely to go OSU.
So glad they did get Dontre! He is more than I expected and can't wait to see what he does to this offense.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Lets change this thread to who will have a bigger impact this year
I really liked Green early on in the recruiting process and was slightly miffed that he chose ttun. However, if you put these three together (Marshall, EzE and Wilson), whether it be RB or WR or slot or where ever. Then their dynamics alone make Urban and Co's overlook of, moved in another direction, or snubbed simple decision a not so bad one to me. Marshall, Wislon, and EzE make for a tremendous trio no matter where you line em up. So for that I choose the Wilson or EzE over Green based on their shear dynamics as an athlete.
Some people think we’re the hunted.I don’t feel that way at all. We’re the hunter.Everybody wants an angry football team.Everybody wants a team on edge and a hungry team.If you’re a hunter, that usually equates to being hungry.
My scum buddy told me that green came to camp at 240lbs "of all muscle" and that he ran in the 4.3s for the coaches. I'm not the type to lay into my buddy, for being a typical idiot scum fan, so i just said that's cool. If I remember correctly, at the opening last year, green ran like a 4.6 40 and was glad we got zeke instead. I doubt green put on 20lbs and is faster at the same time. Another delusional scum fan, now does anyone know rational facts on green from camp? Hail? I liked green, not gonna act like he sucks just because he's not a buckeye, but I wouldn't mind seeing him become a FB for scum. My buddy thinks he's gonna rush over 1000 yds, start as a freshman and be the best RB in the big ten, now if that's not delusion I don't know what is.
Edit: btw I like the guys we got on campus, liked Zeke when we got him and was really glad we picked up Wilson in the end. I forgot about green because of how we closed out the class, until my buddy said that last week.
Green did report to camp at 240. His intense workout routines have been pretty well documented and I don't think that he added "bad" weight. He's not running 4.3s; I can all but guarantee that. I think 4.5-ish is more accurate. Borges was asked about his weight and he basically said that if Green can do what he is expected to at that weight, there is not an issue; if not, they'd ask him to lose weight.
Green's touches will depend a lot on Fitz' performance and health. No sense in predicting numbers until we see a few games. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Green takes over as the starter at some point, but I don't know if that's even 50/50. The bigger story will be the interior offensive line and whether or not 3 first-time starters can run block to help the RB position be what it has to be to be successful.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
Green is exactly what Michigan wants/needs at RB, and he will get every chance to be a starter. I think there's a very good chance he rushes for over 1000 yards this season and ends up as FOY in the B1G, AND I'm glad we got DW and EZE instead.
These two are different players not real comparable. I think EZE fits better with what Urban Meyer like out of his running backs. He wants to be the fastest offense and the country and Derrick Green would slow us down.
Here's a before & after shot, of Derrick Green since he's arrived at Ann Arbor...
Looking more like Bar-Brady, if you ask me... But, if you ask me...
Hes a big Boy, gonna be a Ron Dayne type RB and WILL get yardage. He's a great fit for UM and a heck of a RB. I think we got a better fit for our offense, as did they. Wilson will be more electric, Green will be more traditional (which isn't bad). If he is reporting in at 240, doesn't look like much fat, he's going to be a 250lb beastmode RB. The question is going to be about talent, does his running talent lend itself to making a huge impact? Seems like it will, I'd rather he had gone somewhere else if I'm honest. He is not someone to downplay at all in he next few years, let's just hope they made a mistake at QB recruiting ;)
Doesn't even look like the same person...

What is that? WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT?! A jelly donut?!
I'm already sick and tired of seeing him, and he has yet to carry vs. tOSU. Hoping like heck that he doesn't go "Ron Dayne" on us over the next 3-4 years.

Looks like Greene is taking in the family atmosphere up there.
Both Wilson and Green found offenses that will be a good fit for their skills.
I say Wilson !!!
I'm more than thrilled with Wilson and definitely EzE, to go along with guys like Ball, Dunn and Smith for the future. That said, and I hope I speak for most of the guys on here, I wish Green luck. He was a great kid who has a cool story, and though he didn't end up in S&G, I still like him, as long as he doesn't do well against us.
