no suprise they're pushing sec on him espn has a huge contract with the sec and they hate the big 10
ESPiN gets on my nerves. I really hope the B1G takes its TV rights to FOX or NBC when their contract is up in roughly 3 years.

'some say the SEC is the best conference. what do you think about playing in a conference like that'.... ESPN you are a joke
I know we hate each other, but it's probably going to fall on one of our teams to break through and get the B1G back where it should be (perception-wise). F the SEC.

We've been working on it for 10 years, when are you guys gonna pitch in?
^^^ Ouch, haha. I chuckled at this. that was a well-timed quip. Me gusta
Hey, we are 4-2 vs the SEC since 2000. We are doing our part head to head.

Unfortunately I am not sure the Big Ten is going to get over the perception that they are weak in comparison to the SEC. I live in Tennesee and trust me, it would take A LOT to change the perception that the Big Ten is second tier to the SEC. Even the worst SEC teams think they are something special just because they are in the SEC (vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Miss. St, etc. I'm looking at you). Even if an SEC team has a couple losses, people assume that those are 'good losses' because they came against the 'best' competition.
If a team from the Big Ten does well in the season and goes into a BCS bowl game, maybe even a national championship to play an SEC school, it will be assumed that the Big Ten team has played lesser competition while the SEC team has played against superior talent. Certainly the perception wasn't helped with Tressel's back to back championship losses to SEC schools.
Beating the SEC would help the cause of the Big Ten, but even when OSU beat Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl ( yeah the win's gone, but we all know OSU won the game on the field, even if we may object to Pryor and the others playing) the SEC idiots were spewing the fact that that was our 1st win against an SEC opponent, and saying Arkansas wasn't a 'real' SEC team, since they had only been in the SEC since 1991.
Lets be honest though, does anyone outside of Michigan fans think Michigan can beat Alabama to open this coming season?
Penn State has played Alabama, well not close, but certainly played them ok the last two seasons and they have had zero offense. Michigan fans travel almost as not as well as Ohio State fans do so I don't think it will be a defacto Bama home game despite being in the south. Plus Michigan has some playmakers and can score a lot of points. Whether we Ohio State fans want to admit it or no,t Michigan has a great coaching staff, albeit portly. I think the fact that the game is early in year bodes well for Michigan, because I would not give them as much of a shot if Alabama had the whole season for their young players to mature. But I think this game could be closer than many people think because Alabama has to replace a lot. Frankly I would love to see Michigan win it would be great for the Big Ten. Plus, I would love for them to be undefeated coming into Columbus so the Buckeyes can ruin any shot they have at a National Championship appearance, and finally get a little revenge for 95' and 96'. Not ready to say Michigan wins but it wouldn't shock me if they did, I think this game should be close.
Finally? 2006 was pretty sweet.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
2006 was awesome but we were #1 all year long until, well.... I just meant Ohio State hasn't had a real chance to play the spoiler yet like Michigan did a bunch of times in 90's.
It doesn't matter what B1G teams do, we'll never convince the people in SEC country that the B1G is on par or better than the SEC. They've been spewing the same nonsense about their conference being the best conference around and having more speed for the last 20 years at least if not longer. I had a grown assed man telling me as a 14 year old the reason Ohio State couldn't be SEC teams in bowls is because they don't have the speed. That was 16 years ago, and what at least 6 bowls versus SEC teams ago.
That perception will never change. The B1G could win 6 strait BCS titles and they would still say their conference was superior.
Also, the B1G will always be on ESPN. At the end of the day ESPN is going to pay more money to have B1G games on their network than NBC or Fox of CBS. Like it or not the B1G needs ESPN and ESPN wants B1G games on their network because it means rating and lots of dollars.
It makes no difference how good or bad(and the B1G has been really bad) the conference is, perception of SEC fans will never change.
Pushers ! "Quit pushing your stuff on me, pusher man." I bet they tried to give him ESPN SEC documentaries on DVD, (i.e.: "SEC: Storied). And, they told him the first one was free, but then after they get him hooked - he'll have to pay for the rest of the collection, including the Herschel Walker one.
Don't get hooked, Laquon!
ESPN has a hard-on for the SEC. I just think of the dilemma: ok, if a guy OSU wants does not commit to us, who would you rather have him commit to, if you had to pick one of the 2 lesser evils: Michigan or an SEC team. One one hand, it's OSU's bitter rival, but it does raise the B1G level of performance. I'd probably go with Michigan over an SEC team, unless its Vandy - they seem harmless.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
BTAlbert25, we beat their ass regular and the perception WILL change.
Go back in time and not get our asses handed to us in consecutive championship games. Don't forget in 2006 OSU and Michigan were 1 and 2 for The Game. Respect was given, and then squandered against UG and USC. If we can't get a time machine, the only other solution is to beat the SEC champ in the BCSCG, and soundly.
Edit: meant UF, damn autocorrect
For what it's worth, it sounds like Laquon is canceling his trip to Oklahoma for the spring game. Per his twitter account he will now be going back to Ann Arbor for their spring game.
Weather it seems prevented the OK trip, not so much that he didnt want to go. He does like tsun and bringing him to Columbus wont be an easy task. Heard the weather wasnt going to be great for the game up there this weekend...hmm..thats too bad ;)
Quon = Michigan Spy at OSU earlier this week!
@ Tenn
Most Michigan fans are predicting we lose to 'Bama. I think we need a lot to go right to have a chance. We did sell out of our 25k allotment of tickets in 2-4 hours (depending on which report you read) and that got nowhere near the general public. We'll be very well represented if not the majority.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
@Hail No way you'll be even close to the majority if the games in Texas your dreaming Cowboys stadium holds 80k and you guys will prob have 30k fans there at the most
Honestly I'm hoping Michigan wins vs Bama makes the Big 10 look good and us even better when they come to the shoe for a beat down in november. Bama lost a lot of key starters from last years team if Hoke is a decent coach it should be at the worst a close game.
Otrain2416. I agree that they will not be the majority. However if 25k tickets were sold I would guess more than 30k show up.
Anyways, that is just a dumb comment about if Hoke is a decent coach it will be a close game at worst. Alabama is going to be ranked in the top 10 for a reason. They return nearly all of their O-line, where Michigan lost most of their D-line. Alabama is a 14 point favorite for a reason. I do think Michigan has a chance at the upset and can keep it close. But your comment is just dumb.
I don't think its a dumb comment. If you coach right and make good calls, you should at no worst lose in a close game. Hoke had a great year but this is a benchmark game for him. If he is as good as stated then he should be able to keep this game close if anything. I do think that bama will have their hands full with Denard and if he has one of those games, this could be an upset. But if things stay status quo, Bama will win.
Northbrook, I promise, if a B1G team or Ohio State wins a few bowls in a row or a few national titles against SEC teams I can see it now. Ohio State was fresh for the game, they played that weak schedule where we play in the SEC and after the grueling schedule didn't have much left in the tank. ETC ETC ETC. They always do it. Even before the Florida debacle, SEC fans were saying Ohio State was only in the game because of their weak schedule, although playing the number 2 team in America two times before that game doesn't seem too easy to me, especially when one was in Austin, but whatever.
I'm telling you, the perception of the average SEC fan will never change. If a B1G team is on fire it's because they are lucky. Hell they rarely gave USC credit for being an elite program. USC had teams that were far and away better than anything the SEC marched out there, but SEC fans always said they were over rated or they only had great records because the PAC 10 wasn't that strong etc.
The outside world may have to acknowlede it, but SEC fans never will.
@OTRAIN
I was just basing that off of what Alabama fans were saying over at 247. Apparently, they have not even sold all of their tickets yet. The said they were hoping it would be at least 50/50. We'll be well represented. Who care's what the capacity is? We stuff over 100k Michigan fans in the Big House against EMU. The only ones that had a chance to buy tickets were those that donate the most to the school. If we sold 25k to strictly alum and big donators, I'm sure we'll get to at least 40k with students and the general public.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
@Hail you stuff 100k fans at HOME news flash so do we. Its called your home field for a reason. Texas is much more of a home game for bama in terms of location then for you guys. I understand they want a 50/50 split who wouldn't at a neutral location. I think its 60/40 at best its just too favorable for bama in that "neutral" location.
@ITS I think its funny you have no confidence in your team. Alabama lost way more players to the draft than you did including whats predicted to be 5 players going in the first round alone (4 defensive 1 offensive). News flash for you too you guys are most likely gonna be ranked as a top 10 team also. Yes I will go on a limb to say if Hoke doesn't keep this game at a minimun a close loss that I wouldn't consider him an elite coach. This is his chance to shine he barely beat a weak OSU team last year at home that had an interm head coach and a true freshman QB. The Vtech game was the ugliest and sloppiest win I had ever seen. I'll give him props for beating down Nebraska. This is his chance to shine as a coach with a stud senior QB we'll see what he's got. I hope he represents the Big 10 well.
WOW @ this idiot. Good job Jeremy calling this dude out on tweeter. This idiot is the reason people need to not tweet these kids.People say things to these kids without thinking and how it effects themselves or a fanbase.

TheeBC -- What did that dude tweet? Looks like he's apologizing after being slammed for his comment.
Looks like he deleted his tweet. He was pretty much callling him out and making our fanbase look real bad.
