From some people I know close to the program, it sounds like they won't be doing 'The Hive' anymore in pregame warmups. I'm glad that the tradition of singing Carmen after the game will remain, but if true I will miss 'The Hive.' It was definitely one of my favorite traditions, and one that I would always show up 45 minutes before game time to witness.

I'll ask a friend that's on the coaching staff this week. I know the students will do it if the players don't lol.
Edit: If they do the 1 on 1s/circle/"hoot and hollar? (wtf) drill instead, I'm more than fine with that. Imagine that before the TSUN game...
I doubt the circle drill becomes the norm. As for the hive, it was definitely an awesome thing and would be missed if it's indeed gone.
They did the circle drill at the open practice too as part of the walkthrough. And then they did the same clap/whistle drill and warmups for the spring game. It could happen :D

Bummer, I liked that one. But Urban's got an arsenal full of ways to get the players fired up so I'm sure something else cool will come out of it.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Sorry for my ignorance, but what is 'the hive'? Please enlighten me.

I think, to an extent, he can't recycle all of Tressel's old traditions. He's not Tressel, he has to carve out his own identity--the team will follow that lead, and as we've seen, it's been working.
As long as we keep singing Carmen with the band after the clock strikes zero, I don't much care what else he changes.
Thanks Recruitbuck. I have seen them do this, but I never knew what it was called.
Agree with Hodge. That was my favorite tradition that Tressel brought (other than "and so forth" of course).
Agree with JD and Hodge -- as long as the alma mater stays, I'm ready to welcome new traditions.
