Why do people think we're going to flip Thomas? He's committed to Michigan. I know he's from Ohio and has people at OSU (Dunn) and committed before Meyer took over but has he given any indication that he's re-opening his recruitment or that hes interested in flipping?

I'd rather have Cravens or Bell.
Ditto Recruitbuck. That ship has sailed. Bigger fish to fry. To be cliche. Twice.
I don't know if he's said anything publicly. However, I know that Alex has mentioned in previous posts that he wouldn't shocked or surprised if Thomas ended up in the class. If I had to guess that has to do with the fact he will likely be in Columbus watching Dunn this fall so Urban will likely get a few cracks at him. But I don't know if its anything beyond speculation right now. Alex, thoughts?
I think its mostly wishful thinking. I mean yeah we nab a great recruit, but more so we would steal one of the top kids from our rival (one who they have been bragging about alot). The meltdown from the scUM followers would be epic...I think we would all get a kick out of it.
IMO he is all theirs..word was he was a big in getting Gedeon to commit...either way landing Bell or Cravens would erase losing Thomas almost entirely.
and anyway, if we landed thomas, droves of scUM would be complaining about cheating, unfair practices, and say that we lured him with free cars and tattoos.... You would think the self-proclaimed 'Harvard of the Midwest' would be above that, but it just goes to show how truly crappy they are as a whole (disregarding the few, rational fans)
Yeah, I'd love to have Dymonte, he's a great player, but I think he's made up his mind. I don't think we'll be getting Cravens or Bell either, but hey I'd love to be wrong about any of these three.
I personally don't think ship has sailed.....we will see next January
Why do people think we have no shot at cravens? Didn't he say we were getting one of his 5 visits?
Cravens is all U$C. And yes, supposedly we are getting 1 of his 5 visits.
I don't think it's happening. He's gone to the dark side and never coming back. Blame the last staff for botching this one up or he would have been all OSU.
Ben Gedeon has said that Thomas was recruiting him the hardest.
All 3 are elite but: Bell>Cravens>Dymonte
@WRockhold- I woudln't blame the last staff in its entirety. Bollman was the one who told Dymonte that he didn't need to come down for the last spring game and really made himi feel like an outsider-- I'd blame Fickell too, just because he was the captain of the OSU ship when Dymonte went to our rival.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Scarlet, as everyone says, if we get someone on campus, no telling what urban can do
3rdLeg, not challenging you, but I hadn't heard that before. It's a verified true fact? Depressing, if so...
I clicked on it... I regretted it immediately...
Im new to this site, its my first post. With that said I'm from Alliance, Oh born and raised. Let me tell you guys, I don't think we really ever had a chance with this kid. He's been a SCum fan his whole life, hell his father raised him to be. Not to say the last staff didnt f$%k this one up majorly, but i don' think it would've mattered. I'd love to have him cause he's a good young man who stays out of trouble and is a hell of a talent (on offense too). If Urban can work his magic than more power to him, I'll never doubt him. In the meantime i would focus all my attention on Mr. Vonn Bell, he is every bit as talented as Cravens and he seems a little more interested...Jmo
@SonofBuckeye- That was the report I was given at Buckeye Grove from the mods. Dymonte wanted to come down for the spring game last year, on his own dime, and Bollman gave him the cold shoulder and didn't make him feel like he was welcome so Dymonte never came. So, if the OL woes aren't enough of a reason to bash Bollman, you now have more fuel for that fire..
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
@SILVERBULLET- Good name. Welcome to the site!
In regards to Dymonte, he very well could have been a scUM fan, but if individuals on the last staff didn't botch the situation, it could have turned out differently. Just saying it could have (and still might) turned out differently if Dymonte was made to feel like a priority (as Urban is in the process of doing). Hell, just look at all the kids in this '13 class who "grew up" OSU fans and are going to our rival.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
I do not think anyone has had that belief about Dymonte flipping more than Alex...I do not know where it comes from but for some reason he believes it more than anyone on here.
Like a few of you noted, he was a big part of encouraging Gedeon to commit. Also, as of late you can tell he has really been bonding with the 2012 commits like Terry Richardson and Royce Jenkins Stone. Do not take him not showing up to our spring game as a sign that he is going to decommit either. It has been documented that he has his ACT to take tomorrow.
Also, Cravens is going to be tough to haul in. His cousin JOJO Mathis loved Michigan last week and he was quoted that he was very close to commit last week. I am hoping he gets in Cravens ear, I know the both of them will be using an official on Michigan as well. I do not think he is a USC lock, they are both very high on Nebraska for some reason.
Thanks Thirdleglouie! I agree with you, like i said. I won't put past UFM, any flip is possible with a great recruiter such as him. Especially with a whole season to do so. Just wish the last staff would've shown him some respect!
I would be surprised if UM, err, Urban Meyer, wasn't activly recruiting a number of UM verbals. Not that there's anything wrong with it. After all, Hoke picked off Kalis last year.
SilverBullet - Welcome aboard & keep posting!

I come in peace, and just have a simple question, no strings attached. Alex, what is driving your confidence that y'all might me able to flip this guy? Is there something that those of us from TSUN are missing? I'm just genuinely curious. He seems pretty set on his commitment, but obviously there is the worry he could flip due to all of the OSU influence in his life. Is this just a "Urban Meyer can get anyone he wants" situation, or is there more to the story? Thanks!
Facts about The University of Michigan: Our coach is fat, our girls are plain, our campus is uncomfortably close to Detroit...Tell me something I don't know, then super size my fries for me
Damn, every time I get on here there is another wolverqueen. We are being attacked! You guys are all pretty rational but damn't I just hate Michigan!
Tough times never last, tough people do
Snoodogg22 - Relax. As long as they're being respectful I see nothing wrong with fellow Wolverine fans posting here.
Anyway, I too have noticed Alex as being the only one who seems more confident than any other person I've seen discuss Thomas. I don't know if Alex knows something we don't; probably just a guess. IMHO, I would say Thomas is 99.99% a Wolverine. He will be in Michigan's 2013 recruiting class. There's absolutely no evidence to the contrary. Just a bunch of "I hopes;" "I wishes';" "Urban gets whomever he wants" & non-knowledgeable opinions.
Would love to be wrong tho.
Hell if Alex can flip some tsun fans over to this site then I think Urban has a good chance at Dymonte.
Plus didnt you guys think Brionte was a Dunn deal?
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Welcome Silverbullets! Thomas isn't flipping IMO. Need to focus on Bell, Alexander, and then Cravens.. Not sure if we have a legitimate shot with any of them, but having them visit campus can't be a bad thing. Bell was just here, Cravens is taking an official, and Alexander is coming for the spring game....
Just curious, if Dymonte committed to OSU last September, would you have pursued Jayme Thompson? I can understand holding a spot for Cravens or Bell, but not a guy like Thompson. So does Thompson just get the shaft if Dymonte gets a change of heart? Of what if Dymonte and Bell both wanted to come over?
My point is, I think the Dymonte saga ended when Thompson committed. Just my opinion. Either way, Dymonte isn't going anywhere. Hopefully, you guys would rather see Urban spending his time on other recruits than going after a lost cause.

IMO Bell > Thomas, but if Dymonte wants to flip I think it comes down to whichever one commits first. If its Bell we stop pursuing Thomas and vice versa
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I agree that it would seem that ship has sailed. From an interview with Ben Gedeon yesterday:
Tremendous: I read that Dymonte Thomas was the only commitment you'd talked to since your recruitment began. What did he say that helped sell Michigan to you?
Ben: He talked to me a lot about how much he loved it there and why I should commit. We kept in good touch for a long time and he stayed on me.
Tremendous: He did a great job selling them, huh?
Ben: Definitely, he was great. He was in my ear quite a bit actually. Seeing commitments who are passionate about their program is awesome. I'm really looking forward to being a part of that.
He went on to talk about how Michigan did a better job at recruiting him than OSU, although he was recruited by OSU before Meyer was there, so I don't put much stock in that.
@commanhead
I will be honest, I always thought there was a chance at him flipping but after I read that same inteview, it is the best I have felt in regards to his commitment to Michigan. Would I totally be shocked if he did flip? No I will not, but I do feel a lot better about his commitment now. Especially, with the bonding he has done with the 12' commits.
"My point is, I think the Dymonte saga ended when Thompson committed."
I'd agree with this. Add in Dymonte's pro-Michigan tweets and the Ben Gedeon interview, and I think it's pretty obvious Thomas is now all Wolverine.
Thompson had his Buckeye offer regardless of Dymonte since Ohio State is taking 2 safeties this year. However, the Bucks could decide to take a cornerback instead of a safety if it's the right kid. So, a total of 4 DBs and three in the stable.
They can always move true freshman Tyvis Powell (6'3") from cornerback to safety, which is a position he played alot in high school.
I think this ship has sunk, and now the staff is focused on Cravens and Bell.
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.

Hey Alex, Meyer has always said that he'll stop contacting a verbal commit if they tell him they aren't interested.. are you thinking that Thomas has left the door open?
People... Read Thomas's tweets... The kid is Blue. Let's move on. Craven or Bell would be more than fine.
I think Urban could still work (and he probably still is working ) on Dymonte. Its not a lost cause until Signing Day.
All he has to do is contact him and see if he's interested in visiting and discussing the possibility of him becoming a Buckeye. If Dymonte's not interested, then Urban will move on. If Dymonte is interested then there is a window and a chance, perhaps not a good one, but a chance he changes his mind. It could happen. I'm not keeping my hopes up, but it could happen.
Well, I think it's his loss. We only want player who WANT to be Buckeyes.
GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope we flip him and he ends up riding the pine behind Bell or Cravens
Dymonte hasn't closed the door.. He is still Blue but his ears are open.
Anything but an opinion that gives us a reason to believe this?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Hah, there are so many tOSU fan mannerisms in @Proudtobescum's post (use of scUM in name, use of TTUN in post, sig) that I suspect we really have a person begging to be converted from the dark side! Get to work and make it happen folks!

From his lips to my ears :) I realize I am a new poster and with that a certain amount of skepticism is surely to be present but, I assure you I am a long time follower and devout Eleven Warriors fan who will not post anything untrue or unfounded. He is definitely still Blue and I wouldn't anticipate that changing anytime soon but I know that there is a little itch in the back of his mind thinking he may like what is happening in Columbus.
The way Urban has historically used his defenses should be appealing to any atheltic defender. The number of defenders he's put into the NFL is ridiculous. Mattison is a great coach for Michigan, certainly their best overall (and this includes Hoke IMO). But he's the only defensive coach at TTUN that is as good or better than his counterpart at Ohio State. Also, Whithers and Coombs are proven secondary coaches who have had top notch defenses and put players in the league. And then on top of that, the defensive recruits Meyer got in '12 and has committed/interested for '13 are just ridiculous. Any safety prospect has to look at our D-Line, LB, and CB recruits and drool. An athlete like Dymonte could have ridiculous stats playing behind those guys.
So you're friends with Dymonte? Alex is always saying not to give up on it, but he, too, has yet to explain why he believes this.
Whithers has a good resume, Coombs, while I like his passion, has coached HS most his life and at UC for a stint (I'm not sure if that's proven). Just go get Bell and forget about Dymonte.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Just get used to this topic Hail, we are going to hear all about it leading up to signing day.
Give me facts, I just do not see that right now. Can it happen? Sure, I do think it is very unlikely right now.
Hail, upfront I want to say that I think it gets more unlikely by the day (especially if we land bell). However, I think a lot of the hope stems from the fact that urban said that if a committed guy says he is completely uninterested then urban will stop going after him. It doesn't seem like urban has completely stopped going after dymonte which could potentially mean that dymonte didn't tell him he's completely uninterested. I think Dymonte is 99.9% blue, but there still seems to be that .1 percent.
So, does anyone know for sure that Urban has talked to Dymonte or even visited his school recently?
Just interested because this seems to be common knowledge on this board that I may have missed.
Pease stop beating a dead horse and let this thread go away.
And what so 'great' about dymonte thomas debate?
The debate or Dymonte?
You guys sound way too desperate.
We have better prospects all over the table.
I really hope this thread stops right here and DEAD!
REVIVAL!!!!!!!
(Sorry Carton, haha, just messing)
Wheather the debate is true or not im all for it..... after all it is making some tsun fans a little uneasy and whats not fun about that. :)
O H I O is the Buckeye State
The problem with JDADAMS argument is that you can say all of the same things about Michigan. Very physical defense with good depth in the backfield and pulling in big time recruits for 2012 and 2013.
And it's interesting that you mention all the defensive talent that Meyer developed... many of which were actually developed by Mattison when he was DC for Meyer. Mattison's resume is very impressive... DC for Michigan, Florida, ND, oh, and the Baltimore Ravens.
Not trying to be a prick, just saying that while there is a ton of things about the OSU defense that would appeal to someone like Thomas... there is just as much appeal at the school he's already commited to.
I also agree that given the class that Meyer is pulling in, I'm not sure why the OSU fanbase can't let go of Thomas. Let it go.
If you guys don't want to think there's any chance of Thomas leaving, that's your prerogative. Please quit telling others though it's honestly quite upsetting. Not only the fact that you are telling people what to think and that they are wrong, but you have absolutely no tact and it just comes off as arrogant.
@command
Id say the reasoning is quite simple. Ohio kid, position of need, extremely talented, committed to our most bitter rival. Would not only be a boon to our class, but a nice sized blow to theirs. Is it going to happen? Who knows. From everything I've read, heard or seen its a long shot. but if the doors open, why not try? I don't see it as desperation, as we have several other highly touted prospects who have shown genuine interest in becoming buckeyes. But any time you can stick it to tsun, why wouldn't you want the coaching staff to pursue him?
