Just curious about what Urban plans to do with the rest of this class. We have anywhere from 5-10 players remaining, probably 7-8. With that in mind, if 2-3 commit at the Spring Game that leaves us roughly 4 spots to work with for the rest of the class. It seems there are more buckeye leans than spots available!
If you look at leans your talking people like: Gibson, Love, Bosa, Anzalone, Heuerman, Trubisky, Lazard, Pocic, Green (maybe) and possibly others.
Then you've got the possibilities: Quick, Treadwell, Foster, Bell, Cravens (unlikely)
That's a large number of people to fill so few spots. What are your thoughts on how we spend our last few scholarships?
Keep in mind that we'll have people transfering and maybe one or two underclassmen declare for the draft (Hankins, maybe Roby), that this class will likely end up around 20-21 total. Right now, our class is about halfway full.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
You can't bank on 6 kids leaving, that's definitely a possibility but I went with a more reasonable number like 3
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
With the last 4 spots your looking at Trubisky, Gibson, Lazarad and Pocic.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Well we have 5 spots left no matter what so add a name to that list
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Gibson, Pocic, Bosa, Anzalone, Love, Quick, Bell, Heuerman, (OL- Hopefully: Khaliel Rodgers or Dorian Johnson)
That would make 19, which is do-able.
I would be very very surprised if 2 QBs were taken in this class given how tight the numbers are going to be. With Barrett, we'll have 4 going into the 13 season, and if there was a rush of injuries to those 4, we have a guy in Jalin Marshall who could play under center. Plus, the '14 QB ranks are loaded with good talent- The only way this would change, IMO, is if someone (read Trubisky) really really impresses the staff at camp
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
I think we'll have 7-8 like you said, so we take Heuerman, Pocic, Lazard, Bosa, Anzalone, Gibson and Love with the 7, if another spot is open either a suprise like Bell, Treadwell or Quick, or we go for Trubisky
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
^^^ Seems to me to be the most likely.
Wait don't we have the extra one banked from 2012 when we didn't get diggs? That's a guaranteed 16 I believe then

Gentlemen, we've reached a point where i think we can be very selective about how the remaining spots get filled. Another words, "cream of the crop" from here on out. I've seen big Hank projected in the top 5-10 picks by more than one publication. Roby and Barnett 2 more possible early exits to the draft, not to mention the plethra of o-lineman that Bollehman recruited who may or may not cut the mustard (hope they survive, their just kids). This class may get closer to 20 than people think. With that said you put a premium on OL and take Pocic, Lazard and maybe 1 more big guy for the trenches. Green and Quick to finish up the skill positions and 1 of the following: Foster, Treadwell, Gibson or Allen and thats a wrap for offense. Bosa, Bell, Alexander, Hurst, Kimbrough and Love or Anzalone to round out the D. Still not 100% sold on Anzalone as LB though.
Every major college program in the country disagrees with you on Anzalone haha. They all want him and Urban is leading for his services

I know I know Triv. I don't doubt for a minute that im in the minority on this. Idk if its level of competition or what i just can't shake that overrated feeling. I sure hope i'm wrong, seems like a great kid and a heavy lean and in Urban we trust so i'll shut up on this one...For now.
Well, we're only taking two linebackers (Anzalone and Love), two more on the line, two more receivers and a defensive lineman. I think we're done with the secondary unless Alexander or Bell wants to come.
Anzalone, Love, Bosa, Lazard, Pocic, Heuerman, Gibson, Treadwell/Quick/Allen/North/etc., Green and Trubisky makes ten more. So, unfortunately, I think Green may be out of this class.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Also, I definitely think Worley is probably in. So I think this leaves us here...
IN: Anzalone, Bosa, Love, Gibson, Lazard
Probable: Worley, Pocic, Heuerman
In the mix: Trubisky, Green, Quick, Rodgers, Bower, Daniel, Hurst, Day,
In if they commits: Treadwell, Jaylon Smith? Vonn Bell? Mackenzie Alexander? Dymonte Thomas?
By "in the mix" I mean that they could very well be left out due to a lack of space (i.e. Green).
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Hey guys, Roby will not be going into the draft. He is only a sophomore. Definitely good enough but has to stay another year.
Redshirt sophomore. He'll be eligible.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Yeah, forgot about the redshirt. Doesn't matter, after this year Woodard and Burrows will take over.
Don't forget about Armani Reeves
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
And Doran Grant..who was all everything himself as a prep.

and all the above is why we will continue to be db u
i think roby will stay at least one more year. has talked in the past about how he wants to be remembered as one of the best corners ohio state has ever had, so he's not looking to go to the pros as fast as he can.
Word from the coaches..which is just words being put out there, is that Roby will probably be gone after 2013 his jr year.

Anyone remember why he redshirted in the first place?
I am not totally sure but we had torrence and chekwa at CB that were pretty good don't think he would have played much his freshmen year so they put a redshirt on him. Could be wrong though but I assume that was it.
We only have 15 in this class with 10 commits and I think 4 of the last 5 schollys are already gone to Bosa, Anzalone, Gibson and Love. I gotta believe the last one goes to an OT like Pocic or Lazard.
We were expecting alot of attrition this offseason but it didn't happen. I don't expect much attrition next offseason either. Maybe Big Hank moves on but those underclassmen know that 2014 is a golden opportunity to go after the NC, so I just don't see guys walking away voluntarily. Maybe we lose a few to academic problems but thats gonna be all.
I say the class has at most 17-18 commits.
IMO it wont be long before this class is finished (except for maybe 1 or at most 2 spots being held open). I am sure Urban and his staff are busy right now having to deal with kids they want in the class and kids that want in but can't...Sprinkle may have started a fury of committments.
We will lose 2-3 to grades and transfer. It happens every year. Maybe next Jan a guy like Baldwin sees the writing on the wall that Pocic, Lazard, and Lisle are coming in and enrolling early and he just wants to play. Or maybe Carter decides he doesn't want to be buried behind the smaller quicker DTs like Bosa, Sprinkle, Hayes, and Schutte while trying to keep the stamina to play 40 minutes as a defense each game and wants to go to a MAC school where he can eat as much as he wants. Maybe Philly starts out with a few big drops and ends up on the 2nd unit and decides to follow Hazell to Kent and catch 100 balls in a lesser league in an attempt to make the NFL. Maybe Reed gets arrested because he's from Marion and that's how they roll. The possibilities are endless. I never thought we'd lose a guy like Cash so quickly to Duke of all places. Vandy could steal a backup or two. They seem to be the cool place to transfer to now.
15 is what is available now. I see the final number at 20 so ten more to announce and it sounds like Gibson, Anzalone, Bosa, Huerman & Love are in. So 5 left.
Cash bailed as soon as Meyer showed up to his news conference. I definitely think some back ups on the D-line will leave. It was pretty obvious after seeing the build of Pittman out there (even though he was injured) that these new guys coming in (Schutt, Spence, Washington) are going to compete for the 2 deep when the season starts. Bring in a guy like Bosa next year and the back ups from last years team wont stand a chance.
I really think we will play 10-12 on the DLine if we are going to be lining up for 40 minutes out there. That's why Oregon can't win the big one with their offense, they just don't have the horses on the DLine. They can occassionally get a guy like Ngata but he can't play 40-42 minutes balls out every game. Different guys will prob get more reps against different schemes too w Bellamy, Carter, Hayes etc more likely to play against the Wisconsins and Michigan States while the smaller guys like Moore get in against the Indianas and NWs.
Ya sure we aren't at 16? I thought we had 15 seniors plus the 1 scholly we banked after missing out on stefon diggs?
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
^I want to say there's 22 on the roster (senior or 5th year), not sure on the # of walk-ons though. I'm sure someone else can confirm.
In hindsight, its hard to imagine how Jim Bolman every landed any bigtime recruits. Hes a miserable looking guy with a mundane personality.

What about a kicker? Not hearing much on that front. Basil will be gone after next year and I see that we have two walk-ons, Doup (soph) and Clinton (freshman).
