Former Oregon QB Darron Thomas, declared for the NFL draft a year early. He didn't get drafted. I'm sure he's feeling bad about it all. Since he hasn't played a down in the pro's and doesn't have a signed contract and has one year of eligibility left, could he go back to Oregon, even though he forwent his final year? I know what forgoing your eligibility means, but come on man, dude really f@cked up. What's the harm in letting kids that don't get drafted, but have eligibility left go back to school? Even if they have to pay their own tuition. Anyone know if he could go back?

I know if you don't sign with an agent you can go back in basketball, but I think you have to go back before the draft, I'm not sure how it works for football but I'd assume same type of deal.

His college career is done. That is why they allow you time to see when you are likely to be drafted before you declare for the draft.
Yeah, in CFB, once you declare for the draft, you're done with college. College basketball is different in that regard. Not sure why that is. One possibility for him would be the CFL. I don't know - it doesn't sound 100% fair to me at least, though considering he can see where his prospects stack up, it was less than wise of him to declare. However, someone in an article I read said that playing his senior season wouldn't have really helped him in that regard, so who knows...
Class of 2010.
Seems to have gotten some horrific advice.
He can go back to school and pay his own way and earn his degree, but by decalring for the draft he forfeited his eligibility and is no longer considered a student-athlete. Sucks for him, but thats life. There are always consequences for your decisions.
new meaning to the phrase F*@K a Duck.
Ya, I always wondered why he came out early...maybe was worried about potential Oregon sanctions?
