It's been discussed on several threads on this blog about what the 2012 Ohio State offense will look like. ESPN is recently reporting that the 2012 offense will resemble Oregon's up-tempo no huddle offense. Players and coaches have both agreed with this assumption. Miller has even said "The defense gets really tired. They're always complaining after practice, saying we need to slow it down. I'd compare it to Oregon." Meyer himself has stated in regards to the new offense "All you've got to do is look at Oregon." So what are your thoughts folks?

Yeah, they go FAST at practice. No breaks, the only stoppage was at the end of the drive. Should get the defense conditioned too!
Because of doobie cigarettes?
Taquitos.
I thought I remembered Urbz saying to Dom Tiberi that the offense wasn't going to be up tempo all the time.
Meyer has said they will slow it down every now and then to adjust the tempo as well as allow for a huddle offense. But they've also professed that the offense will be committed to running a lot of up-tempo and no huddle variations.
Didn't Ross Fulton or someone else on here say that it wasn't going to quite be like Oregon's up-tempo stuff?
If we want to do it like Oregon, I would suggest more of our players start smoking weed. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Class of 2010.
Great thing about practicing so fast paced is come game time you can comfortably play at any pace. Which obviously would be the case if you practiced at more traditional pace in practice all off season. I do not think that we will be any where near as fast paced as Oregon. Fast yes, that fast no, and its because we will take advantage of the talent we currently have big fast running backs (Hyde, Smith, Ball, Dunn) all of which are guys who can slow a game down. Which this new offense will certainly do at times especially with a healthy lead.
This is where our incredible Dline depth will really help.
In his interview with Gerry DiNardo, Urban said "his offense" was not an up-tempo, fast paced offense. Florida huddled, and did not try to go at such a breakneck pace.
But, from what has been written lately, it seems after the offensive staff sat down, put their minds together, and decided what they really want to be, they have decided on a physical up-tempo offense, with the ability to huddle when needed.
To me, that is what will set them apart from Oregon. Oregon is anything but physical. Other than LeGarrette Blount, they never had a physical back. I think if they had had a full season with him, they would have been playing for a MNC the year they ended up playing OSU in the Rose Bowl. Ohio State is recruiting (and already have) physical backs on the roster they can use between the tackles if the horizontal game is not working.
I'm all for it as long as they don't go finesse on us, which they've said they will not.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
Hopefully they will not be mimicing Oregon in how much reefer they smoke.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
