IMO, how far the OSU coaching staff eroded and was unable to motivate after the 2008 season. OSU's recruiting classes were consistently in the top 10, but we haven't been developing elite players (according to NFL management) the past few years. Hopefully we have received the shot of adrenaline, in the energy that Urban brings, that we need.

Players drafted in the 1st round since 2008:
Illinois 5
Ohio State 4
Michigan 2
I think Tatgate is the big culprit this year. If Adams, Posey, Boom, and TP were all coming out after playing their entire senior season it could be a lot different. Posey and Adams could have played their way into the first round, TP/Boom probably wouldn't be first round picks but would be in the first 3 rounds for sure. But as it stands they all made bad off the field decisions that negatively affected their draft stock.
Which goes to show how much the NFL Draft is based on potential/athletic ability rather than college success.
I had to laugh - Mel Kiper was talking about the Whitney Mercilus selection, saying he had two sacks his first two seasons combined, and 16 last year, so he was a one-hit wonder in college and that was possibly a red flag.
You hear the scouts and evaluators say things like this out of one side of their mouth, and then out of the other side they talk up other prospects based simply on "measurables," "high-ceiling," and "makeup."

Sounds exactly like Vernon Gholston to me. I still don't know how he didn't tear it up in the NFL.
IMO, Simon will be a 1st rounder, Stoneburner could depending on this season....others with later potential: Shazier and Roby
Off topic, but the NFL draft showed me that the talent disparity between the SEC and the other conferences, specifically the Big Ten in this case, is HUGE. Urban and Hoke are starting to change things, but it's amazing just how bad it has got.
