It still baffles me that anyone would want to go to Notre Dame and play for a sub par team. Brian Kelly is an idiot and will most probably be gone after next year if they don't have a good season this year, which I don't see happening. I know academics is a big part of it, but Ohio State clearly is the better pick if you want good academics and great football with a chance to play in BCS games, including the Championship.
It seems he has a higher opinion of Beetred Kelly than of UFM. But, if Vrabel is his hero, how could he not come to OSU? Is it because he was moved from LB to DL coach?
It's a shame he doesn't want to play with Rod. I never got to play with my brothers and would love to have played with them.
"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it you lost a day. We ain't got many days to lose. We're going to push your a$$ like its never been pushed because what you've got in you were going to find out" UFM
His brother being at Ohio State can only help us ... No way it could hurt us ... They play on opposite sides of the ball ... There would be a serious comfort level going to a place where you already have family ... I really hope we land this kid ...
No idea why notre dame is his leader. Vrabel is was his favorite player and would be his coach. His brother plays for ohio state. Ohio state consistently puts award winning linebackers in the nfl. Im afraid I cant name the last LB notre dame put in. And its clear urban will play the best players, seniors or not. And its not exactly a deep position right now. What am I missing?!?!
Yes, Mike Vrabel is handling the recruiting for Jaylon Smith & ya gotta like his chances of landing this young man come August. Jaylon seems like a very poised mature young man who understands what he needs to do & also understands that it's more than just about football. It's about the maturation process of becoming a good person & setting himself up for success after college comes to an end. Meyer & Co. will be in this right down to the end & hopefully they can grab this last piece to finish out what already is an absolutely amazing class on the defensive side of the football.
He stated in the interview he is looking at the big picture and will take football out of the equation. ND has the higher acedemic rating, hence the draw to ND. But, if that was the case, wouldn't he be looking at TSUN? or Northwestern also?
Nice run by Rod down near the goalline to score. He powered over the line after being hit at about the 3 yardline. Was hit by more than one guy before he pushed it across the line. /threadjack
Anyone in the Columbus or surrounding area that wants to see Jaylon play, his Bishop Luers team will be playing @ Bishop Hartley October 5th @ 7pm. Should be a great game with tons of talent on the field. Hartley's DE/TE Jacob Matuska is a Notre Dame commit.

Very interesting...sounds promising.

If Coach Vrabel is that iconic to him that he was in awe.....It would be awesome for him to be a member of his team. Sounds pretty good.
Vrabel... Diggins... Vrabel... Diggins...
Gordon Gee's signature is on my diploma. I'm proud of that. Class of 2008

IMO the fact that Rod plays for us is deffinetly holding Jaylon back from commiting. I'm sure he wants to carve his own path.

Does Vrabel handle his recruiting?
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.

@Buckman
I think I remember from an interview at a skills combine that Jaylon said he talks to Vrabel regularly so I assume he does.

@BuckinBama,
The big-bro/little-bro dynamic is always interesting and can work many ways. Don't count on it helping us.
Plus Jaylon would get to tackle Rod regularly in practice.
I'm a big Rod Smith fan. If he holds onto the ball he could have a great season. Give the man the rock!
