Penn State's offense was proof of what happens when you waffle between qbs. Pick your most talented guy, which is by far Braxton, and let him get the reps and grow.
Kenny runs the rock pretty well but doesn't throw as well and Miller isn't that great at throwing it either yet really. I say no way, Kenny will have to be happy as a backup.
Guiton is fine if Miller gets hurt or we're up 40, but since this is a season that doesn't really matter I want Miller to get all the reps that he can so he can learn and improve for the seasons that DO matter.
In fairness, Bauserman is/was a horrible athlete period so you can't really equate that to sharing time being a horrible idea, but I see what youre saying.
...but Miller is THE guy and shouldn't share snaps. He will have 2 years to try and win it all for us and needs this season to gain full potential.
What is test season? It's a real season, our wins matter, we just can't go to a bowl game. Find me a team with a bowl ban in history that just dicked around for a year. It makes zero sense
No. Miller needs all the experience he can get as he will be the starter next year anyways. Opening up what competition exactly? The team knows Miller is THE guy for this offense. Guiton got lucky with a scholarship offer from OSU late in the game to fill a spot, he has been much more than what people expected (competing for a starting job/being the back up quarterback), but there its insanity to try and split time with Miller at this point.
As others have stated, no -- Miller should be "the man" and that's the end of it. If we're up 4 scores and the 4th quarter rolls around, Guiton should go in the rest of the game with the exception of maybe the last 2-3 mins, so that Jones can get a few reps as well, but other than that, it's Miller's show.
And just to add, with regard to some of the comments stating that it didn't work well with Bauserman last year, well you have to remember -- we had an incompetent offensive coordinator & QB coach -- Guiton should have been the backup from snap #1 with Miller being the starter from snap #1. The fact that Bauserman even saw the field last year was just further indictment on the inadaquecy of Bollman / Siciliano and their inability to make competent decisions.
Anyone that thinks Urban Meyer is treating this year as a "test season" and doesn't think his goal each week is to throttle the team that lines up across from the Buckeyes hasn't been paying attention to a word Urb has said since he got hired.
Not to pile on any further, but recall last season when Miller was pulled in favor of 5th row Joe B...his confidence was in the shitter, that's the last thing we need.
would like to see some wishbone spread with KG, BM, and CH in the back field, would allow you to have 4 WR or 2WR and 2 TE could lead to alot of reverse/misdirection plays and would definetly confuse the defense. isn't that far fetched either as they would still have Cardale Jones to come off the bench and this set can be audibled from or to I-form Power, still gives you the numbers, creates alot of mismatches and really puts alot of stress on the d.
If Guiton was better than Blowsaman, he would have won the job numerous times. Guiton is a solid #2 but in no way should he split time at all with Braxton. No way. Not a chance. It's not like he has a special skill like a cannon arm or blazing speed that can be a change of pace from Brax. He is not a poor man's Braxton, he's a homeless man's.
With reps as limited as they are in college off-season ball no, you give QB 1A those opportunities. Hopefully we'll be able to get up enough on some teams early to let KG get some valuable game reps too. Lets also not forget Braxton was a freshman last year, kid hasn't even hit top form yet (yay).

STATUTORYGLORY have you ever seen Guiton play?? If you have then you should know that he's WAAAAAY better than Bauserman ever could have been! Bauserman was awful to the point of I dont even know how he warranted a scholarship! Guiton might not be Miller, but I guarantee he can probably go to another program and win the starting job. He's actually pretty decent and can run pretty good. You remember back when Tres was shuffling between Justin Zwick and Troy Smith?? Thats always a recipe for disaster. Stick with Miller...
^ Also remember that Zwick was the STARTER and Troy got to start because of a Zwick injury. Shuffling in that case lead to a heisman...not say it works in this case though. Millers the guy me thinks
Well I remember them both playing in games and Tres shuffling them throughout the game. Smith eventually won the job because it so obvious who the better player was, but they did shuffle them for awhile. I believe that was the year VY and Texas beat us with the dropped TD pass...
Zwick and Smith both played against Texas because Troy was coming off that suspension from the previous year. Once Tressel went with Troy full time that year he started really developing into the heisman winner we remember.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
Zwick/Smith isn't a fair comparison in this case...Zwick was the #1 rated QB, Smith was a 3 (maybe 4 at best) star "Athlete" who got his P.T. on special teams in the beginning. '04 was obviously a disaster with Zwick...season was somewhat salvaged when they went to Smith. Of course he was suspended to start '05 and for some UNKNOWN REASON to this day, Tress thought it was a good idea to mix it up during the Texas game, as if the results of the previous season weren't enough. Zwick I don't believe saw meaningful minutes after that.
In this case, Braxton is THE guy, no doubt about it. Guiton was not that highly rated out of H.S. As somebody mentioned, K.G. doesn't do anything better than Miller (in the case of Zwick/Smith, Troy had better wheels and an ability to extend plays). Plus, both guys are young...so you want the best guy to get the most reps for 2013 - if you're taking the view that this is a "test" season. Why would you want to take reps away from Miller being the best he possibly can be for his JR season and bowl eligibility? I honestly can't believe we are even having a serious discussion about this.
Absolutely a troll thread. Urban has shown zero aversion to controversial QB rotating. I think despite the woeful state of our offense last season, the fact that Urban has never brought up the possibility even to push Brax a little more is quite telling about kenny's abilities.
Seems to me the goal for 2012 should be the same as it always is: TO BE UNDEFEATED AND BE THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. Bowls and press championships are always secondary, mostly more $, more practices, and more fun.
Is there really a contingent that doesn't see that Braxton Miller has the potential to be amongst the best QB's ever at OSU?
I have avoided looking at this thread, assuming it was absurd. Shocked it hadn't gone away yet I checked it out and I was right this is absurd, @buckeyedude seriously?
Why are you guys acting so serious, i saw somebody post something like this earlier and i thought why not and posted it. Didn't know you guys would be so harsh on this. My bad bro.
While I agree Miller shouldn't lose too much game minutes to Guiton, Urban is the one who has been injecting Kenny with more frequency. Seems he is impressed thus far and I do think he'll get decent time as a backup.
I agree with the overwhelming sentiment posted here that Miller is the guy. But I would be quicker with the hook than normal (got to protect that investment from a brutal and unnecessary injury). And getting a back up (or next year's back up in Cardale) some time is never a bad idea.
No. Miller is lightyears ahead of Guiton and that would only inhibit his development. Is this even a serious thread?
Bausercrap and Miller shared time last year and that went SO well.
Penn State's offense was proof of what happens when you waffle between qbs. Pick your most talented guy, which is by far Braxton, and let him get the reps and grow.

Gution is not Bausercrap. He is better than that. I was just wondering if it is a posssiblity.

While we're at it, just make Hankins the slot receiver and Drew Basil at TE, since it's a make believe fairy season.
Maybe we should try out T.Y. Williams and Ben Buchanan at nose guard while we're at it...or, you know, we could actually try to win games
Anyone that thinks Urban Meyer is treating this year as a "test season" and doesn't think his goal each week is to throttle the team that lines up across from the Buckeyes hasn't been paying attention to a word Urb has said since he got hired.
Guiton is a very solid backup. I feel VERY confident in him as a backup.
But Miller killed it today. Unless that changes or he gets hurt, he deserves to be the starter.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.

I like Kenny but theres no way you take playing time from Miller after he earned the starting job.
Miller is going to be very good this year and he will send tsun home amaized & blue.
O H I O is the Buckeye State

This is at least a 6/10 as a troll thread. At least. Well done.
Tressel mixed it up in the Texas game because Smith was suspended for the 1st game and Zwick had a lot of reps as the 1 QB going into the game

We aren't being harsh, we're being rational. We like it when the Buckeyes win, not lose.
NO WAY JOSE! Miller is the future and needs every game experience he can get.
While I agree Miller shouldn't lose too much game minutes to Guiton, Urban is the one who has been injecting Kenny with more frequency. Seems he is impressed thus far and I do think he'll get decent time as a backup.
Um, no thanks. There is still plenty to play for and Miller is the QB....PERIOD.
vacuuming sucks
That's just an awful IDEA TS. For real, this is a keystone year for Miller. He needs to know this is his program.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
I see you ended your post title with a question mark. I'm going to answer your question. No, you do not think that. Only way that happens is injury.
