Was supposed to announce Friday but I exchanged texts with him this morning and something may happen as early as today. Watch this one and I do think he's a Buckeye.

Very interesting. Thanks Alex! I love that he, Bosa, and Anzalone all seemed to really hit it off.
Yeah, Rivals had a similar quote last night which I put on the other, now lost thread. That sounds sooner rather than later.
This would be nice. 3 ESPNU (although does it matter?) commits in a weeks time.
It especially doesn't matter with ESPiN
With Stoneburner graduating and Fregel moving to T, getting Heuerman would/could be huge.
Well, can't forget about big brother Heuerman and Vannett who I thought caught the ball very well. I am curious though and probably should ask Alex directly in the mailbag, is there any future FB being recruited? Need a replacement for Zach Boren when he graduates!
Might be able to use one of the TE's on the roster as a FB or maybe ever Rod Smith?
Heuerman isn't in the ESPN 150*, but still a top target nonethless and rated higher on the better recruiting sites
But I could care less about the ratings as long as urban likes the prospect and they are a top level talent
I like that attitude TDIBLE! If a recruit is good enough to get an offer, a committable offer, than he is good enough for me. I want guys who want to bleed scarlet and gray, not look forward to their NFL careers!
Exactly, let's stay away from TP types. I remember his reasoning for coming to OSU was he wanted to run the pro style offense so he'd be good in the pros.. LOL that worked out well for him..
He just tweeted: "Such a shitty situation."
No joke, check his twitter if you don't believe me:mheuerman9
Read the tweet below. Someone was asking him about Miami. I think he was referring to their issues and how crappy of a situation it is down there.
Tweets don't mean anything............90% of the time.....I think this one means nothing
Squirrel, you nailed it on the head. Mike was referring to Miami, not anything(one) else.
On that note, the "U" is going to get hammered very soon.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
IDK how good he is but I think its darrly baldwin is listed as a FB he is like 5'9 240 or something. But I am sure Meyer uses a different kind of FB in his spread then that.
Fullbacks? We don't need no stinking fullbacks!
I doubt youll see Urban recruit a single fullback
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Urban will bring his tightends in the backfield, so fullbacks aren't as crucial as in a traditional offense. We may need a traditional fullback in goal-line situations, but let's be honest we'll score long before we get there =)
Ya I didn't know if he used any at florida, he will probably do what someone else said use the TE's in an H-back spot or something our TE are athletic enough to do it.
Dunn's a bruiser, he can play as close to a fb role as Urban needs for years to come
was expecting a committment from him today...he just waiting to get his own day?
Set announcement for Friday originally and it was so his brother could attend. If we don't hear anything by tomorrow I would guess he is just waiting until then.
I have a feeling he will go to ND. I feel like there's about to be a logjam at TE at OSU.
I bet the return trip to South Bend was a function of the Baugh commitment; seemed completley out of left field.
Check my notes in the forum from today.....I still feel good about Mike but this pressure is getting to him
Say what you will about Brian Kelly, that purple face of his can recruit hard.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
He can recruit but can he coach with the big boys? Thats the question.
Charlie Weiss had good recruiting classes too!
Everytime I see Brian Kelly coach all I can think of is how much of a joke he is, a little child throwing temper tantrums.
If the pressure is getting to him, then he should just commit already to the BUCKEYES and life will be good. :) Seems simple enough to me....
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got nine guys who better go do it again. Do it a little harder next time." -- Urban Frank Meyer -- I LOVE THIS DUDE!! :)
Was just browsing 247 and noticed a little bit on Heuerman. Looks like he may be leaning ND. Disappointing... Like others have said and I have to agree that I just don't see what recruits keep seeing in the Irish.
Are we back after McNeil if we don't get Huerman?
o well...Baugh is plenty at TE IMO...leaves another spot for an OL or a skill player
I'm just gonna wait and see with Mike. I'm sure this is a tough decision, so best of luck to him, and I hope he picks the good guys.
Agree with Britishbuckeye, IF (thats a big if) Heuerman goes ND, then Baugh is just fine. Both would have been great, dont get me wrong. But the fact that a scholly could be banked, used for skill spot, DB or OL is just as enticing.
DO NOT KID YOURSELF, I WANT THIS KID IN S&G!!!!!
I am just simply stating that, although it would be a shame to see him go to ND, its not the end of the world. But I do want this kid and I feel he could be a terror with Baugh.
I like McNeil better then Heuerman he is already bigger ... looks faster w/better hands the only TE I like more was Brenerman ... Then I'm thinking what happens if BIG TIME sanctions come down on PSU ... Could be another year of kids jumping ship to our benefit ...
For what it's worth guys, everyone was saying that Tony Parker was trending towards Georgia, and OSU was making a late surge. I imagine that Meyer is aware of all of this and is probably in Heurman's ear as we speak. Let's see how this all shakes out, I think we're still in a great position. I'm betting he's second guessing himself, since he came home so high on OSU. Even if he happens to commit to Kelly, you've gotta think that tinge of regret will be enough for Urban to keep picking at. I'll eat the crow if I'm wrong, but I say he's ours on signing day.
We WANT Mike Heurman in this class. He's a very skilled TE who has nice hands, is a good route runner, & a very intelligent football player. One thing you gotta LOVE about this young man is his work ethic & drive to win & COMPETE & if I'm not mistaken that word "COMPETE" is pretty BIG word to Coach Meyer. Come on Mike, dawn the S&G!!!!
Shendig
You want Mike Heuerman...and unless you don't care I'd watch what you say about him...there may or may not be people close to him on this site :)
People are insane if they question what this coaching staff thinks the team needs. And regardless, Heuerman is a stud. Hope he is a Buckeye when it's all said and done.
my stance is still the same, I want this kid in S&G and hope he comes aboard
I'd love it if like half of our recruits have accounts on this site, and comment regularly. But yeah, guy's tape is sick--and it's worth noting that he plays against top-tier high school competition.
Heuerman was number one on my TE board for monthes.... Baugh commited out of nowhere, while I like him I want Mike in S&G he's a stud, I hate when people hear one shred of doubt and run for the hills like ahh who cares we dont need him lets just get more of this and that... Same people that were geeked when it seemed as though he would commit after saturday... Remember how early it is in the cycle. OSU will get him
Do we know if Mike is still announcing on Friday the 27th?
Yes he is or he could announce "@ any moment" before then. He will def make his decision on the 27th at the latest unless he changes his mind. Again, WE WANT MIKE HEURMAN!!!!! BECOME A PART OF BUCKEYENATION & BE PART OF THE NEXT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM HERE @ OHIO STATE.
Shendig
I hope you are right Alex because I have said it before and will say it again, this kid is a must get and would add to the lethal weapons in this class has. He is still growing and will become a huge target down the field. Braxton has his Stoney, Vannett and big bro Heuerman. JT will need Baugh and Mike when he takes over.
I do want to say that it is huge how Mike got along with Bosa and Anzalone. Urban creates a family atmosphere and it is not faked by any means. From Urban's ties to Woody and Bruce, this team fights together, plays together and wins together. Players come back to this program because it is a second home to them. Nothing against Alabama or other major programs, but I don't see those teams staying together, through good and bad, like the buckeyes do. This team stands together through generations of players always looking to help each other.
This is what the players see and I know Mike sees it! He will be welcomed to this family by all of us!
WE WANT HEUERMAN!!!!! COME BE A PART OF BUCKEYE NATION!!! AND IF SOMEONE CLOSE TO HIM IS READING THIS MAKE SURE HE KNOWS HOW MUCH WE WANT HIM!!!!
haha @ JasonBuck
@Alex, hey just trying to do my part :-)
After watching all three highlight films I think that Baugh and Heurman are both better than Jake Butt all bias aside.
- Respect the Rivalry -
Come on Alex, we are looking for ANOTHER a gray box!!! COME ON MIKE, BUCKEYENATION IS WHERE IT'S AT! Friday can't come soon enough as I just can't see him committing before then for some reason.
Shendig
Would love to have this kid. For anyone who thinks that we should bank a scholly for another WR so we can have another playmaker... this kid would have the potential to be just as much of a playmaker in Urban's offense as any WR. Come on down, Mike!
The thing I love about Mike Heuerman's highlights the most is that over half of the highlights are of him just straight pancaking defensive linemen and line backers. He's obviously a great athlete and good TE in terms of catching passes, but while guys can get better at route running, catching passes, etc.. You cant teach tenacity, guys either have it or they don't, simply put, he has it. Really hope he is in this class.
Mike, we know you want to be part of the Bash Brothers, soooooo, why wait!?!? ND is already stacked at TE. We need you!!
Love this kid I want him in S&G. Nice thing about him is with his size and speed you could potentially line him up in the slot for a mismatch
The two tight ends I wanted in this class were Breneman and Heuerman. With Breneman's commitment to PSU, that ship sailed to Happy Valley. Then OSU got the surprise commit from Baugh, which I'm thrilled with, but still it was unexpected. Now, I am still hopeful for Heuerman to commit to the Bucks. I think he will be a Buckeye come Friday.
In the million to one chance he actualy reads any of this stuff..... Mike, we'd love to have ya and root for you and the team in the upcoming championship run(s) this team will be on. Go Bucks!
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
you guys could turn to twitter to praise him...
It's Heuerman or bust with Baugh aboard. I don't think we need more than 1 TE in this class when OL and safety is so thin.
C'mon Mike. We want you here in C-Bus and help bring us a title! This is where you want to be!!
Let's get some brotherly love going on... come on up/over Jaylon and Mike!!!!!!
To the buckeye fans... who's up for getting drunk if/when I make it to a game this yr???? I'll be coming from the sh*t hole that is known as Iowa, but I love them Buckeyessssssss!!
You shall not know the day nor the hour...that Heuerman commits.
Com'on, Mike, the Buckeye faithful are thirsty for the second coming...of a Heuerman on campus.
"The revolution will be televised."
Jaylon.....We are talking to you also! This recruiting class can be a part of something very special!
Hope this isn't the case..
I'll say it again lol: I have a feeling he will go to ND. I feel like there's about to be a logjam at TE at OSU.
seriously...... alot here care more about him coming to Ohio State than he obviously does at this point. Do any of you think he will read these posts pleading him to commit, and suddenly decide OSU is the place for him? His Bro has been here for awhile, so I assume he knows all he needs to know about Ohio State. If he wants to sign here he will. If not, Oh well.
Kid will be as good as he wants to be, where he wants to be. Pretty certain he's not 100% on OSU, or he would be all in, getting with the program.
If this really is the case...I seriously want to end Brian Kelly. Didn't like the way he left Cincinnati, and hate him as ND's coach, and if he can somehow get Heuerman...RAGE
All this means is he's picking Miami.... until sanctions come that is..... Osu beginning of week, ND middle of week, Miami by Friday for his committment.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Honestly, it would suck, but then we'd go all in on Josh McNeil who is just as good of a prospect in my opinion. We'll get our studs either way, it's just a matter of if Mike wants to be part of something special at OSU or not go to any meaningful bowl games at Notre Dame.
I really think it's Heuerman or neither. I think we're set at TE honestly.
Kelly must have changed his mind big time at the last second.
What black magic is Brian Kelly playing with now?
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
@hayze, agree on the "be a part of something special", he knows whats on the horizon, whether its from the current 2013 recruits or what his brother has been feeding him.
@JohnBlair, i doubt people are trying to go one here to persuade him to commit to OSU, its just for fun, just to show how much they want him..... Kind of like this:
COME TO tOSU MIKE!!!!! YOU WOULD BE A TERROR WITH BAUGH!!!!!
Not like I expect him to come here, read my comment and suddenly decide Buckeye Nation is where he wants to be, but its a forum, just voicing my opinion. and its fun.
If you are a talented TE, you have to know that you can be a good one at ND or a spectacular one at Ohio State with Urban Meyer...thats why Baugh committed, he knows he could become an all-american/future all-pro TE under Meyer...Heuerman to ND wouldnt be that big of a loss IMO, same with Jaylon Smith going to ND...they will end up being good players on an average team rather than great players on a great team
I'd love to hear what happened between the Spring game (bash brothers) and Monday afternoon.
I don't know why we even want him. We are full at TE and running short on available scholarships. I'd rather not get him and use the spot on a position that is in more need of depth or save it until the end in case a "can't say no to" kid wants to commit.
WOW! Some of you guys turn on a prospect so quickly it isn't funny ... I've always liked McNeil better the Heuerman ... So I would've preffered him anyway ... but I think Mike is coming to Ohio State you want your brother there to see you commit to ND ... Doesn't make any sense ... I do think we botched it on McNeil though, but you have to think Mike has told Urban something to the good since he basically quit recruiting McNeil .... On Jaylon after Foster this is my most wanted player ... Could you imagine w/him we'd have linebackers fast enough to to be a 4x100 track team ...
DMC, my guess is someone got into his ear from ND or Miami (FL) about the number of TE's OSU has and got him thinking about playing time, etc.
He is talented, we want him, he will be a good player. Hope he picks Ohio State and am not knocking his talent because that is silly, if a kid chooses elsewhere he suddenly is not a good player. However, we do have some depth with Tight Ends so this wouldn't be as bad as losing out on O-Line (Pocic) and WR (Gibson, Quick). This is a situation where if he chooses us great and if not great, best of luck wherever he goes and he will be good for someone.
It's safe to say the Heuerman Buzz is all but buried for OSU.
Not sure why everyone says we are stacked at TE. Right now it is, but in 3 years all there will be is Baugh. If you think Urban will get another one next year or year after to play with Baugh, fine but Heuerman and Baugh would be the TE that will grow and develop with JT. I think getting Heuerman is very important now.
by the time Heuerman comes in, Stoney will be gone. Vannett will be a senior. Older Heuerman will be a junior. There are what, a couple other TE's that are not as talented as Mike and then Baugh. He will be needed!
Vannett will be a rs Sophmore in '13. In any case, if Urban wants another TE, I guess I do as well. Still, losing Heuerman won't bother me too much.
If they don't get Heuerman, I expect the interest in McNeil to definitely go back up....nothing wrong with Josh McNeil, I just prefer Heuerman over Baugh and JM.....any way this one is not 100% over, but it's not looking great
Well I still think this kid will be better than Vannett. Probably as good as Stoney. I am so glad we are going to be using the TEs alot more now. Stoney was so under utilized.
Alex, is it safe to say the staff won't be recruiting FBs so much as they will TEs in the future? If so, that would explain the need for more TEs. We'll lose Zach Boren and Adam Homan after this season.
@Alex, do you think Mcneil is offended that the interest dropped off on tOSU part after Baugh committed, or do you think he'd still consider coming to tOSU if Heuerman goes to Notre Shame?
Considering he was leaving heavily towards OSU, he'd be okay
@Bass, yes I do think their won't be the traditional "full back" recruited any more...maybe a bigger tight end like Jeff Heuerman, but I don't think we'll be recruiting Zach Boren's as much even though Meyer had success with Billy Latsko at UF
@JasonBuck, I think they would have to do some work with McNeil to "show him the love" again, but I think this kid had planned on committing to OSU in May and the Baugh surprise commitment kind of threw everything off. Heuerman was obviously higher on the board than McNeil, but I still think the love for OSU is there and with Jamal Marcus and the staff pushing, it wouldn't shock me to see this kid a Buckeye if they decide to take 2 TEs (if Heuerman goes ND/Miami)
@Alex - What's your gut on this? OSU, ND, or Miami?
Koyack was a 5 star last year. This year he caught 1 pass for 5 yards. Come on Mike dont go to the TE graveyard that is ND
Read up a little on the thread a little, Hodge:
Oh, trust me Recruitbuck, I've been reading it closely. Last he said was it wasn't looking great, but we had a chance. I took that to be an update--and was wondering if he had garnered any new information (figured he couldn't share it, but could share his final verdict, nonetheless). I just wanted to know his gut feeling. Alex tends to be pretty good with his intuition on recruits.
I honestly debated putting that up, for fear of looking like an absolute moron.
I was wondering if he was a must get earlier in the week. With Vannett, His brother, Baugh, and jeeze I'm forgetting someone else, there is a lot of TE talent on the team. If he wants to jump on board that will be awesome, but if not, on to the next guy.
Also, just because he commits to ND in April doesn't mean that sometime of the next 10 months or so, his mind can't be changed.
British, I get your point but it isn't like OSU is loaded at TE. Once Stoneburner is gone we've got a bunch of guys who haven't produced. Vannett showed some talent during the spring game, but that's the first I'd heard of him. Also, it isn't like Notre Dame is weak at TE either. Plus I believe Notre Dame already has Matuska in at TE this year (unless they were going to switch him to DL, I can't remember).
Don't forget Blake Thomas coming in the 2012 class.
Heuerman is playing games with my heart. I have the feeling this is where he will call and give us the break-up. Something along the lines of "Its not you, its me..."
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
my gut right now is ND, but still something inside of me knows Mike loves Ohio State
There's alot of variables to take into account in this decision.....The best players will play; Boren showed that over Bobek. And a redshirt is always available. Stoneburner is benefiting from that, even though it was medical (right?).
I'm having trouble embedding tweets at the time, but it's time to read into a recruit's tweet.
James Onwualu, current ND 2013 commit (WR) tweeted "My day is made" and Heuerman retweeted it.. Could be nothing but hey worth passing on
There it is, per Steve Wiltfong at 247 Heuerman has verbally committed to ND
Dang. He committed to ND.
Good luck to him.........moving on
Good luck to Mike, and we'll see if this reopens the door for Josh McNeil.
So is he still going to announce on the 27th? lol
Would've liked to see him as a Buckeye. I don't know why a kid would want to play for Brian Kelly, but it is what it is I guess, so I guess we just move on.
Yep. Good luck to him. We will be fine and plenty of Tight Ends will still line up to play for Urban Meyer. We have Baugh in for 2013 after adding Blake Thomas in 2012. Staff can make a play for McNeal or hold off and sign a stud or two in 2014. Total faith in the staff getting the best out of the guys here (Stoneburner,Vannett,Heuerman,Thomas) and guys on the way like Baugh and possibly McNeal or a guy in 2014.
Yeah I don't get the whole Brian Kelly thing either, especially if you've seen his tirades on the field....I didn't have a good feeling when he made the impromptu trip to ND and then extended it a day right before the OSU trip, but he definitely was all Buckeye last Saturday and Sunday.....I guess he was "caught up" in the moment of being with his bro and all the guys he's been close with and then making a good connection with Anzalone and Bosa that he was "just feeling it at the time"....I'll try to talk to him later but my guess is he just felt ND was the right place for him and when he got home from Columbus that was the feeling he had and was having hard telling OSU no when he basically was recruiting for them that weekend
Good luck to Huerman. If we can get Smith or some other LB we like I wouldn't hesitate to move Anzalone to the TE/H-Back spot.
Brian Kelly is continuing the grand Notre Dame tradition: excellent recruiting classes, stifling mediocrity on the field.
Tough beat for OSU here, though.
This would sting if we didnt already have Baugh. Marcus is the better prospect imo. Withers has kept in contact w/ Mcneil, if the staff decides to go that route again.
Anzalone is a solid LB, not a chance would I move him to TE...
Have you seen his film on offfense? He is absolutely explosive with the ball in his hands. He also is a natural as a receiver.
I agree, no moving Anzalone to TE/H-Back
Alex do you think the staff continues to go after McNeil?
He seemed all Buckeye before Baugh committed.
Oh well best of luck Mike. Would have been a great get, but after Baugh I thought another TD in this class would be a luxury not a necessity with the depth we already have at the position.
I wonder if this could open room back up for guys like Derrick Green, or maybe even Tim Kimbrough but I get the sense that the staff will wait on Jaylon Smith before offering Kimbrough. With needs at other positions mainly WR and OL as much as Mike would have been a great get I don't think this is in the long run damaging to this class.
Anzalone is a LB I highly doubt that the staff would move him.
I think that I'm more miffed that Kelly beat Urban than anything else...hate that guy. I want OSU to schedule ND, just so I can see him melting down on the sidelines as Urban shows him what the wrath of God truly feels like.
@Alex
This makes me nervous for two reasons. I hope it hasnt been answered on another board and I apologize if it has.
1)Thought Heuerman ws going to be the guy and any other TE was icing on the cake.
2)Baugh never even made it out to Columbus... when/if USC comes knocking, I just can't trust that he stays in this class just yet. I'm nervous we may end up with only McNeil in this class, that is unless he isn't already disgruntled being our 3rd option.
I'd like to get your opinion (or anyone else that might have some info) on this.
SC isn't taking a TE in this class.
Supposedly Baugh said he was closing his recruitment as well and not entertaining any extra possibilities, or I could have mixed that up with another commit...?
Yes you're right dub.
That committment from Baugh was not only suprising but a blessing for OSU now. Really thought this kid was all OSU. Looks like we are just gonna have two Bash Brothers!
Consider M Heuerman the last casualty of the Bollman regime. ND simply has a better recent track record than OSU of using the TE. This will change immediately under Urban and Herman. Imo, use the schollie for another position and identify the top TE prospect for '14. Next!
McNeil is still high on OSU per Jeremy Birmingham
Hopefully McNeil can check his ego (if he has one) at the door if we are still looking for another TE.
Anzalone is a LB....tough beat here considering the built-in advantage with Jeff....this kid was a Buckeye on Sunday and it's a shame we didn't close it out...as I said, we have Baugh who is very good in his own right and on to the next one
Technically McNeil would be the 4th option - don't forget about Breneman!
Heuerman's loss....McNeil's gain...
Those who stay wil be .......Diinner!!
Brady Joke
This is definitely a loss for us. This kid is going to be good.
Baugh is all OSU...once he gets out to OSU itll be just icing, no worry with him IMO...especially when he will see Stoneburner in action this year...Id hope this scholarship would go to another place of need rather than TE...as I've said before, Baugh is plenty
Who knew having an older brother already on the team would be such a mental block for these kids (Mike & Jaylon)?!
Even though it would've been great to get Mike, we should be filling this spot with someone just as good.
Hey, maybe J. Smith will surprise everyone and come to OSU...you'd rather that brotherly connection pan out, I'm sure.
Like Hodge said, ND should start playing OSU every year. Hell, they might as well just join the B1G already since they play 3-4 of us every year, anyway. Stupid Domers!
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Hail, funny how dumb ND really is...in a year where ND doesn't make a BCS Bowl, IU's football program makes more money thanks to B1G revenue sharing and the B1G network inclusion in that.....pretty scary
Whens ND's NBC contract up? That might be the time when they finally join a conference like everyone else excluding some military acdemies and then that random school in utah who decided to go independent.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I hope we go after McNeil ... I wish we would've never stopped recruiting him to begin with I hate putting all our eggs in one basket ... We should've recruited both Mike, and McNeil until one committed ... Not just stop recruiting one and go all in on the other, becasue it leaves us like we are now empty handed ... IMO McNeil is the better player now w/better upside ...
@Northbrook- hey i agree with you buddy. We all know Urban is known for taking big time prospects and changing their position. Im not sayin its gonna happen but i certainly wouldn't rule it out...and from watching his film it seems like a natural transition. I like him a little more with his hands on the ball not to mention a number of BCS schools were recruiting him for offense so yeah i can definately see it.
BJ Mullens: not sure that the B1G even wants ND anymore. Then, they'd have to take another school as well, to get to 14, and that would cut into each school's piece of the pie.
Sliverbullet and Northbrook, that does raise an interesting hypothetical: the three "bash brothers" are all hangin' last weekend, when Anzalone says to Mike Heuerman, "I kinda want to play some TE/HB, too . . . and Urbz said he'd give me a look there." Heuerman realizes that he'd be competing with his brother (by kin) and his bash brother . . .
Im not saying ND will join the Big 10, I think if ND was going to join the Big 10 they already would have, but eventually I think ND will join a conference
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Seriously people, Brian Kelly is not the first coach to throw tirades on the sidelines. You would think if any school understands good players will play for a coach with a bad temper it would be Ohio State. Yeah, his face was purple on national TV and he was cussing out his QB. He's a football coach for shit sake. It blows me away that people think it somehow would detract players away from a coach because the guy screams fuck on the sidelines.
I've seen many a great coach get pissed off on the bench or sidelines through out sports. I personally think any basketball player who would ever think of playing for Bob Knight deserved what ever abuse they got, but he attracted great players. Tom Izzo always has a purple face and looks like he's about to choke someone out, but he's a terrific coach and lands great talent. Brian Kelly's players have always liked playing in his system, and I'm pretty sure he was an A-hole on the sideline there too.
There are reasons to not want to play for him, like his disregard for safety of students, and how he kept lobbying for UC to invest money in better facilities at the school and once they did he flew the coop on them, but a bad temper and cussing at players on the sideline isn't one of them.
Hey may be a good player in his own right, but I'm glad he didn't select us... Gives us another scholarship to offer a position of need... WR and OL, and Safety!
NBC has a contract with Notre Shame until 2015. They estimate the deal is worth $15 million per year according to Bloomberg. To give some perspective, Bloomberg estimates each Big Ten school received $18-$22 million from the conference per television contracts.
Brian Kelly's back to back 8-5 seasons as well as classless manner in leaving UC, in addition to, the grossly mishandled student death in 2010, is one of the many reasons I feel bad for Heuerman. I respect his decision if it was an academic one, but cannot imagine playing for Kelly; however, I wish him the best of luck, I think he'll need it.
@BTalbert, yes but how many of those same coaches repeatedly throw their players under the bus? If any of them did, they definitely didn't as much as Kelly does.
I'm kind of Meh about this. Would be nice to have Brenneman but I think that scholly can be better used.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
Have to admit this is my first truly disappointing recruitment story.....just don't know why anyone would go there!
