It looks like coaches in the NCAA have gotten a little bit friendly to the idea of a football tournament with more than 4 teams. What will the landscape of College football look like in the future? I won't read the ESPiN article but add $.02 anyway...
The issue has never been nor will it ever be with the coaches or players, it lies with who stands to make money, and how much. Hell, they're whining about what would happen if Cincinnatti got a first round bid and their paltry 35K seat stadium. Coaches just don't give a shit about that.
I'd love to see a six team playoff, with top two seeds getting a first round bye. It allows for enough teams to get a true champion while minimizing the number of extra games. Under this scenario, I'd like to see it enforced that the top two teams cannot be from the same conference, and at most one can be an independent.
