Was Pocic even at the spring game?

Rational, Pocic was not at the game.

I did not think he was, I still wish we told him we would take him at any time instead of totally closing O line recruiting, we might as well keep stacking O lineman since you guys keep stacking up d lineman lol.

I'm not so sure that door is locked up for good; might just be until we see how the dominoes fall.

I do not think it is either Hail, but you wonder what is going through his head now that we told him we cannot take him anymore. I know I would be pissed off, especially after they tell a guy like Levenberry we will wait on you, but if we do not get you we are going to close down the recruiting for Linebacker, I think Pocic should of had the same treatment with the staff.

Btw seems like Levenberry is picking FSU on Tuesday, which is very disappointing.

So you are saying Pocic went to Hoke and said "I want to commit to UM" and Hoke said sorry?

Set your avi
Rational MFAN on 22 Apr 2012 - 4:50pm #

No, I am saying if they waited on him and told him we still have a spot for you whenever you would like to commit, then he would still be considering Michigan.

Remember, he was in Ann Arbor the weekend of the bball game against osu when we got all those commits.

buck-I.8's picture
buck-I.8 on 22 Apr 2012 - 4:53pm #

Which could also mean that he was the one that didn't want to commit.. Let's look at it more than just one way

Set your avi
Rational MFAN on 22 Apr 2012 - 4:57pm #

Where did I say he wanted to commit?? I said Michigan would still be in the discussion in regards to his commitment. Along with osu and Notre Dame.

Set your avi
FortMeyer on 22 Apr 2012 - 4:58pm #

Your previous statement inferred that Hoke told him they cannot take him anymore. How do you know he wanted to commit there then, would be the question? Because he would not be pissed, as you mentioned, if he wasn't interested in being there, so you must know that he wanted to commit there.

Set your avi
Rational MFAN on 22 Apr 2012 - 5:01pm #

They would not take any more commitments from anymore O lineman, including him. That would turn off any recruit

He said he was not ready to commit to anywhere at that point, I am saying if Michigan waited on him and still recruited him and told them that IF he wanted to commit to Michigan at anytime during the process, we would still be in consideration.

buck-I.8's picture
buck-I.8 on 22 Apr 2012 - 5:01pm #

I wasn't saying you said that, I was saying that you implied that it was obvious that he was highly interested, which we don't know. There's a good chance he was pressured to commit that weekend

Set your avi
Rational MFAN on 22 Apr 2012 - 5:03pm #

The coaches at Michigan do not pressure anyone to commit, what happend this year is there was a numbers crunch so when Bosch and Dawson committed it was a dominoe effect because players did not want to lose their spots.

BTW it was very well documented that he was interested. Just was not ready to pull the trigger and obviously still is not.

FortMeyer on 22 Apr 2012 - 5:03pm #

It would only tick off a recruit that wanted to go there. Maybe he was only there to satisfy a curiosity? Or he wanted to go on all of his visits? Many go on visits without intentions.

Set your avi
Rational MFAN on 22 Apr 2012 - 5:08pm #

He visited more than once. Once is curiousity, two means interest. He was at the night game against Notre Dame and was quoted saying, "it was crazy, never seen an atmosphere like that."

hail2victors9's picture
hail2victors9 on 22 Apr 2012 - 5:10pm #

Pocic and McGovern are the only lineman that I know of that still visited after we had our 5 commits.  We know for a fact that interested targets at LB and CB were told to cancel their visits, while studs (Levenberry and Kendall Fuller) made their visits.  It's pretty obvious we'd take those guys, so one could infer that Pocic could be a similar situation, but instead of a spot being held, it would be dependent on a "held" spot being vacated (i.e. if Levenberry goes to FSU).  Now, that could be the Michigan side of it.  Pocic might hate Michigan now, for all we know, but after we got those 5 commits at OL, he still held Michigan in his top 5.  Do I think he ends up at Michigan?  Nope, but would I be surprised if it happened?  Not really.

I don't know how to break this to you SCum fans but the only one picking and choosing recruits from now on is Urban Meyer. You had your two year window and now that window is closed. Even after saying that Urban is still about to out recruit your guy and we know he will out coach him. McGovern was always a ND strong lean and with Pocic his leaders have always been us and two other schools and you were not in that number.

^^^^^ lol that is a good one, how come he did not land LTT, Fox, bosch? Also, we will see how Treadwell and Poggi go too.

I grow weary of that teams fans constantly listing those OLinemen. You had Jake Long and see how far he got you against TOSU. We're putting together bomb squad of Dlinemen with a secondary that will include 2 of the top 5 CBs in the country. You should spend less tome concerned about recruiting and more time finding Shane Morris a kevlar vest.

I did not think It would be wise to list Jaron Dukes, you know since he did not have an offer from Urban, so he automatically sucks. But, he had a pretty big playoff game against one of the top 5 CBs in the country. Or Deveon Smith, he had a offer, not an OFFER right? The kid is going to be the next Mike Hart, no elite speed like Hart in the open field but will be tough to bring down, kid is a beast, watch his film if you have not. I honestly think he is a better runner than Isaac and I am very high on Isaac. Also, let us see where Isaac decides to go too. He may be Blue.

Rational, You are absolutely right about D. Smith being the next Mike Hart. Being from Y-town, I know he will lbe winless against tOSU. I have not watched his film, but I have seen him here played a bunch of times. lol

@Recruit  Why wouldn't they have put Burrows on Dukes in that game?  He supposedly had 6 catches for 182 yards and 2 TDs in that game.  If he was doing that much damage, why wouldn't the coach put the state's best CB on Dukes?

Let's just wait and see who brings it to the field.  We can go back and forth on who looks better on film and on paper, but there are so many factors and variables that don't allow for fair comparisons.

Well, Im sorry I did not know he was not on him.....that coach at Trotwood has got to be the dumbest coach in the country then.

I'm a big fan of the perspective brought to this site by Rational, Hail and MMan. I hope 11W never loses your contributions. I'll also readily admit that your coach has done an outstandng job recruiting. And for this, I'm glad, because the '06 1v2 game was among the greatest days in history, period, and I hope to see a few more of those over the next 5-10 years.

That said, if you ever want to make a Buckeye laugh, and this is serious, bring up Mike Hart. He may be a tremendous athlete or nice guy or whatever, but to us he's among the biggest jokes we've ever seen come out of Ann Arbor. And don't blame us - he played the clown to a tee... And it was damn entertaining.

Not trying to be a jerk, it's just that invoking Hart doesn't help your cause with this crowd.

I don't know hail, but they had Burrows playing Franklin's other wideout. TSUN fans are quick to point out on his video that he burned Burrows on that long reception (where the corner fell down), but that wasn't Burrows in coverage.

Trotwood still beat them (and then beat the school that beat my alma mater), so the strategy worked.

Here's a good Hart article...from a Penn State website: http://www.blackshoediaries.com/2007/8/22/131340/255

I do wish Mike Hart would of just kept his mouth shut, but there is no denying that he was a very good college football player. I loved the guy, but I can definitely see how or why fans of opposing teams did hate him or in your words laugh when the name is mentioned.

I was just saying though that Deveon Smith reminds me a lot of Mike Hart. Without all the talking.

Shane Morris and Magnuson remind me more of Mike Hart. Let us not forget Kyle "Ohio's Blood" Kalis...

I don't see Pocic at ttun, but certainly Treadwell and Poggi are very realistic. It seems that OSU is out on Poggi (or Poggi is out on OSU, or just a mutual moving on) but i'm not sure who else leads on Poggi. I've been saying all along that Treadwell is all ttun, but he isn't deciding until approx. January '13 so anything can happen by then. I don't see him being tOSU, but maybe another school can jump in before then.

Either way, both tOSU and ttun will have top 5 recruiting classes this year

@Rational The Trotwood Coach probably knows a little more about strategy than you do, seeing as they won the State Championship after they beat MF

Set your avi

^^^that awkward moment when you tell a coach (offensive coordinator) that is part of a few state championship teams here in Michigan that he does not know much about strategy.

No I am kidding, my strategy when I coached defense (offensive guy now) was to always have best on best, shadow coverage with one over the top. That is how we play, of course there is different strategies. The kid did tear it up that game, if I am the trotwood coach I am putting Burrows on him. To ME, it makes no sense, sure it worked that time, but wasn't it a close game? Maybe would not have been as much of a nailbiter.

God, one of these fanbases will be eating so much crow in November...I love it.

Quick comment on Dukes, isn't it possible that Jukes was operating solely out of the slot for that game, and getting a lot of favorable matchups on 'Backers?  I didn't watch that game, but I wonder if his stats were "TJ Houshmenzadeh-esque," meaning they were inflated because offensive schemes were trying to move the lockdown corner elsewhere?

Set your avi
Rational MFAN on 23 Apr 2012 - 10:22am #

You may be right Hodge, I have no clue where he was lined up. I know as an Offensive coordinator I like to get a lot of my playmakers in the slot against a slow linebacker. So, definitely a possibility.

I think he was split wide to the left of the QB for most of the game.

hodge's picture
hodge on 23 Apr 2012 - 10:32am #

Haha, if he were operating out of the slot, it's entirely possible the LB he was embarassing was Mike McCray!

Pure speculation, of course.  But, that would be funny.

EDIT: damn, Recruitbuck--stealing my thunder haha.

The Trotwood running game was just too much to handle in the playoffs. It should be Trotwood and MF again this season, but New Albany might make it interesting if Darron Lee can learn to throw and a runningback steps up on varsity. Dresden Trivalley has been getting better too.

Granted, I was there for marching band competitions, but I never missed a game haha.
