That sounds like bias, but actually, early commitments do get dropped because they don't tend to pick up new offers or go to camps. Burrows and Marshall dropped from underexposure, and we can see it with Dymonte Thomas also.
I honestly don't even look at any of the sites by Rivals. ESPN is always way off on their rankings, Scout seems to hand out 5 stars to everyone, and never even looked at 24/7. Rivals always seems to be pretty good, and I like their coverage.
I don't know, these guys aren't even doing camps and haven't played their senior season. Can't undertand why any site would raise or lower anyone right now. Ohio State's class seemed to hold fairly steady last year, in fact one guy who committed even went up in the rankings after he committed last year. Washington was a 4 star when he committed and Rivals raised him to a 5 star after the fact.
Where I think services like Rivals manipulate their rankings are on the lead up to signing day. I think uncommitted guys who are pretty good, often times take a rise up the list to get people buying insider info on where guys go.
Remember that these rankings are out even before these 2013 kids have played their senior year of high school football. That's why I always like to wait until after camps, senior season, as games, ect to get a better look at how these kids will project to the next level. In the end though, recruiting rankings mean nothing because just like the NFL draft, we don't know how good each kid will be until 2-3 years down the line.
This Robert Nkemdiche kid looks like a can't miss player but what happens if he blows out a knee or becomes academically ineligible? So it's fun to compare classes and 4 and 5 star kids as they're committing but the only way to truley judge a class or a player is on the field on Saturdays. As long as OSU wins, I could care less how good these classes looked on paper.
@BTALBERT That's a really interesting theory and I get the feeling that it works whether or not the services are actually marketing it that way. Really I just think the ones who are uncommitted are the most active on the camp scene and are making news, so subliminally, when scouting services go to analyze players, the more active ones seem exciting, while long committed recruits seem boring in comparison.
Rivals was the only site that listed Burrows as a 5-star. I do not believe any of the sites (Rivals, Scout, 24/7) have updated their rankings yet. Typically they like to see the kids first in camps and then adjust their rankings.
It really makes no sense to adjust ratings right now. It's just to get people on their site. There really isn't anything out there just yet to adjust the ratings about.
Adolphus Washington's rating did not rise until after the UA All-American game. Since he was coming from a D-3 program, they wanted to see him play against the elite before giving him 5 star status.
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.
My point was, 2 fold 1, he went up after he committed and 2, he was not lowered because he committed to Ohio State. It may have been because of the UA game, but he was committed, to Ohio State, and went from a 4 star to a 5 star player.
because he signed with Ohio State!
Because he committed to OSU.

Last time I checked, only Rivals had him as a 5*? Scout never did, and I'm unsure about 24/7.

@SCARLET 247 readjusted their rankings about two weeks ago, and will again probably another month
