A couple ugly ones but nothing too horrible. Way better than what Michigan's recruits sent out. The worst one was probably Mike Thomas.

This comment at the end of the article is a little worrisome:
"***Note from the Editor: This is obviously going to be a very controversial article. We decided to publish the middle ground of what we uncovered. For all 6 schools featured, we discovered evidence of gambling on football, drugs, alcohol on recruiting visits and mentions of improper recruiting benefits that we chose not to publish.***"
Everyone needs to channel their inner Ocho Cinco here. This series deserves one unanimous "Child Please". DJ did a fine job of eviscerating these douche bags and showing them their entrails before they bled out. This is nothing. What a bunch of self serving, self righteous tools. LA-you want to know why they chose not to publish them? Because any accusations they make would be laughed off the stage. This while 'expose' is worthless. I don't care what M guys, our guys, USC guys or Bama guys or anyone else says. This year has turned bloggers into investigative journalists. Go follow 18 year old kids around some more, weirdos.

Wow, this guy really spent all that time pulling up tweets? That just shows how these "reporters" feel the only way to get attention is a negative tmz style of journalism. Pathetic!
Tomorrow
obviously the author has not spent a lot of time in 85% of the local high schools. This is normal vocabulary for "kids" in school which is mostly based on pro athletes, musicians, movie stars, etc.
heh, this is the 'exposed'?
I read five minutes and had to stop because it was poorly done
It would be one thing if these were from tOSU players but these are the tweets of children still in HS which amount to childish conversations amongst friends. Whether anyone likes it or not this is how kids talk to each other these days & Twitter lust gives a public platform to conversations which should be private. While I agree that many of these tweets are ignorant I also know that all of us said dumb shit when we were kids. I certainly did. This "expose" is a large steaming pile of horse droppings and the writer(s) should be ashamed. I'm not just saying that because this one is about my school - anyone who would do this to either implicate a school or kid who will be enrolling (but is still in HS) in a school is pathetic. These are children raised in the era of social networking who aren't yet fully aware of the consequenses of their actions. Putting a 16-17 year old kid on blast like this just plain sad.
That said - I dont really love Twitter for a number of reasons. Some things shouldn't be put out there for the world to see.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I hovered over the link and saw the title of the article and chose not to click because you can already tell it's some Enquirer worthy stuff.
They did nothing of journalistic merit. They copied and pasted. Congratulations, hard hitting journalists, you can use CTRL C and CTRL V and publish your 'findings'.
How deep it all went!!!!

Yes Flip - 100% the equivalent of Enquirer horse shit.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
LAWLZ.
What a waste of time, my IQ is currently seeping out of my ears.
Whatever happened to real journalism? No wonder newspaper's almost dead.
Why were Jacoby Boren's tweets listed? As for the rest, they're mind-numbingly stupid to put stuff like that on twitter.
Most of Mike Thomas tweets are song lyrics. Is this a joke?
Yes. Yes, it is a joke.
Love the inclusion of Roger Lewis.
vacuuming sucks
Oh god, shut up William. Who the heck cares what these kids say?

@Brewster, I guess it's too much to expect people to not spout off racial slurs through social media? People post crap like this to Facebook, Twitter, etc. and then wonder why they either a) are not accepted into certain colleges or b) are turned down for jobs. It doesn't matter that they're kids, my point is what self-respecting person puts garbage like that, out there for the rest of the world to see?
Well seeing as the guys in this piece (of garbage) fall under neither of your categories, I fail to see why you got offended. Unless of course you got offended by the use of a word you are deeming a racial slur. Even that word can be used differently in context and its pretty evident to me here it is not being used as the slur you are offended by. Its only a slur if its intended as one, not if its received as one.
Keep riding that high horse though homey.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
It's only a slur if it's intended as one? That's garbage. Kike is a slur no matter how it's used. Try again. It's stupid to post things like this, it's that simple. The "oh they're kids and will say stupid stuff" excuse is tired and overplayed. They have a brain and should know better. This has nothing to do with being on a high horse.
Well that's funny you use that word because yes. It is a slur when its used no matter what. If a non jew calls a non jew that word, its a shot at jewish people. The N word however is more complex now isn't it? White people have been getting offended by African Americans using the word towards each other for years. "Why can they say it but I cant?" is the line I hear more times than not and the answer to that question practically writes itself. Fact is-these kids arent using the word as a slur, go be offended by something else.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
It has nothing to do with the "why can they say it, but I can't?" viewpoint. It's wrong no matter how you put it.
Except that its not. Its pretty simple. If you can't get it, there isn't anything more to discuss.
This conversation offends me.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Brewster and William you guys need to drop this or else we could be subjected to another self-righteous 3,000 word post from BuckPirate, and nobody wants that.
Consider my argument dropped. I like William's contrubutions to conversations on this site as a whole. I just don't like this one.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Brewster, agree with you about the intent making the comment a slur, but it also has to do with who said it. These comments coming from a group of kids who use the term affectionately for one another is not the same of a 60 year old white guy in a position of authority using the same language. Most likely those kind of comments would get him fired and/or ostracized. That said, I really do agree with you, the article is much ado about nothing. You could scrutinize the tweets of any teenage group and come up with things that are just not accepted well by many of us. Really points out the need for a coach/administrator to advise on the proper use of social networking when an individual is part of a team. Heck, it would be good to make something like that a mandatory class for all first quarter Freshman - not just athletes.
Agreed, I shouldn't have gotten into this argument with Brewster. It wasn't necessary.
Brewster and William: part of the problem is that we have two related, but parallel arguments.
1. Brewster is right that the use of the term, by some people in certain contexts, is generally not considered a slur and is generally considered "okay." Pointing that out is not necessarily a normative point, but might neutrally describe patterns of language usage and popular conceptions of "boundaries."
2. William might also be right, however, that use of the term is counterproductive even for those who have a green light to do so (normative argument). Just because something is considered marginally acceptable does not necessarily make it healthy.

FRIENDSHIP!!
High school kids swear and talk about sex and drugs? I didn't find any of that offensive.
Nevermind
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Man thank god twitter didn't exist when I was in highschool/college and Facebook was only just getting going. I can't imagine the stupid shit I would have said.
I am older (52) and think BOTH Facebook and Twitter are dumb. I just don't see the point of expressing what seems to be every emotion we feel at the moment we experience it, and for all to see on top of that!
David Perkins tweeted an apology for anything he's ever said. Accountability...love it.
