I was at MCAS Cherry Point today to attend a speech given by a retired Colonel. His son was there and the Colonel mentioned that he was a coach of the Havelock high school football team that had won the 3A state title this past year. After the speech, I talked to the son and congratulated him on the season. We talked football for a bit and he mentioned a player on his team named Derrell Scott who was getting some recruiting love from several schools.
While singing this kid's praises he mentioned that Ohio State was one of the schools showing interest. I didn't tip my fan-hand and just listened to what he had to say. He proceeded to say that Urban was probably the most organized and relentless recruiters he'd ever seen. According to him, Urban and coach Withers are killing it in NC. After a bit, my allegiances were revealed and we talked Ohio State for a few minutes and I thanked him for his time.
I know everyone talks about the recruiting prowess of the current regime, but it's nice to hear it from the source.
great to hear what we all have been hearing is spot on...thanks for sharing
Alex, have you heard of this guy? His video is pretty sick and he's only a sophomore

Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless.
Good to hear. North Carolinia is a hotbed for elite recruits, that no big power seems to have control over. Would be nice if we could fill that void.
It's hard to judge talent at such a young age. Unless he has the phsyical body of an elite player (see http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Orlando-Brown-123618...that's what I'm talking about), it's hard to say whether or not they'll pan out when it comes around to college.
Found some cool videos on what the new coaches are teaching.

Awesome find!
6'10 360 lbs... and only a sophmore... thats like a freak of nature.
Withers is he biggest reason for our success in NC. Have to wonder how many seasons he will stick around before he gets an HC gig. My guess is that he waits until 2013 to see if we can win the MNC, and the move on to an HC spot in ACC or Big East.
I think we will get five years between Withers and Fickell.
braxtons feet look good in that drill
Good videos on QB drills and securing the football.
Is it bad that during that QB drill I was looking for players in the background wearing the legendary lavender shirt?
JBUCK, thanks for posting those links. Looking forward to the Spring Game!
Where was cardale jones
Hardly home but always reppin
Was watching the drills and wondering - would it be ridiculous to have a page on the site for videos? Either of the 11dub variety or OSU related or both? And maybe also access other media like the dubcasts - random but just a thought, the drills looked pretty damn cool. Amazing what having a reach coach rather than, say, a video coordinator might do with QB prep.
Oh and Blaze - think Cardale was #13 in the videos? Looked pretty quick.
According to the roster online, Ken Guiton's number is 13. Cardale is number 12.
@ BASS: I thought so too, but also thought the kid looked a little more like Cardale than Kenny G? A little heavier at least when I looked at the face - could be due to the new S&C program and a lack of a recent photo for KG as much as anything though :] Maybe Cardale's off with the receiver's, although with his height and size, maybe we should consider him at tight end if the coaching staff is thinking of a position change.
@BuckPirate. Can't do it. We're only 3 deep on QB's this year.
And just for you: To err is human. to arr is pirate.

No, that is Kenny G, Cardale looks a lot different.
Cardale is absolutely going to be with the qbs. He probably was just stretching, getting taped, or something for the video.
