Hope he can get back close to or at 100%. Must be a tough rehab as they are being careful which is good. Hate to see any kind of chance taken with any players so being cautious is great. Good luck Nate, we look forward to seeing you back. Thanks for the post.
Even if he's healthy come fall camp, I don't see him playing too much because he missed a lot during the offseason. Urban said offseason is where National Championships are won.... and end offspring ball will have the 2-deep set. Williams has a lot to overcome.
It's as serious as knee surgery gets. No way he will be ready to play by the season. Especially as a Leo. As a immobile basketball Center maybe. But football just requires too much of the knees.
I had arthroscopic knee surgery in college, and so did a couple of other players. It took none of us longer than 6 months to be up and running again. So if he does his therapy everyday, and a little stretching on his own he should be fine.
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.
He had microfracture. Arthroscopic is like a hangnail compared to that. He is praying that scar tissue will form and be able to adequately replace completely missing cartilage. A couple basketball players have come back from it. I can't really think of any football guys. But even the baskteball guys that were able too just weren't the same anymore athletically. Oden has had this surgery 3x now. Look how easily and well Oden has recovered from it.
Marques Colston from the Saints- 1,000+ yards recieving in first season after surgery, 2011. Had surgery in October 2010. Resigned this year w/ a 5 year, $40 million contract.
Gosder Cherilus 6-7 325lbs was able to return to starting line up for Lions by Sep. 19th 2011. Had surgery Nov. 2nd 2010.
And Andre Johnson had it in both in his knee and ankle in December(2010) and January(2011). 7 games 33 rec., 492 yards, 2tds, but injured his hamstring which sidelined him for the season(2012).
Nathan Williams had surgery in September.

Buckman - none of those guys had MICRO fracture surgery, I have had 2 knee surgeries as well, most common knee ACL's are nothing compared to Micro fracture... I hope the kid gets a chance to play again some day...
I am currently recovering from microfracture on my knee. I wish him well. It is no joke. I promise you that he will not be the same. I had my done in early January of this year and I am just now starting to feel a little bit better. Three months out and I haven't done the first bit of physical therapy. This is an injury that just doesn't heal. I have had arthroscopic on my knee and now microfracture. Arthroscopic is childs play compared to microfracture. I am sure he will see Dr. Kaeding at OSU (he is the head guy up at OSU and also my surgeon). Best thing for him would be to have the surgery and forget about football.
@JMO Williams started as a freshman or at least played many quarters. I know that we have players that can take his place, but they are not the caliber of Williams. Also, I want him to recover so that he will have a great senior season. He is the type of player that plays on Sunday.

Not surprising since he wasn't running during winter conditioning. Here's to a speedy recovery for Nate so he's ready to go this Fall.

What type of surgery did he have, he has been out awhile I would not think with techonology today he would be out this long.

hope the young guys are ready to get some reps. Is Noah Spence enrolling early?
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.

I hope he bounces back. We need him, and he's fun to watch.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

Colston and Cherilus both had it.

If there is one position we can afford an injury to, it's at DE.
