Interesting that 247 rates him as a three star (No. 18 recruit in Ohio), and that he has mostly just the regional offers. I was also a little confused about how he was #2 in Ohio given this comment?
"I think he has a chance to end up in the top 10 in Ohio — definitely top 20," said Scout.com Midwest regional manager Allen Trieu. "Right now, in the Midwest, after the top back, Ty Isaac, I think all the other spots are up for grabs. Smith definitely has a chance to be in the top 3-5 backs in the region.
Regardless, a great talent. Given he's already been to PSU's junior day and visited Michigan, I was wondering if he might not commit after a weekend with Urban, even if (as per the Detroit News article linked above) OSU and Michigan are at 50-50 going into the weekend. However any kid that says about his Michigan leanings growing up:
"I always had my Michigan on whenever we played Ohio State. It was just really funny to be the opposite of everybody."
Well, makes me a little nervous he might not end up playing for the good guys. Hope he enjoys his visit and Urban sways him our way! Watching his video, he's got Boom written all over him.
I find it hard to believe we're putting out the full court press for this kid. With only taking 2 in this class and Derrick Green #1 on our list, I would think that there would be other, "burner" type kids (gonzalez, khalid thomas) ahead of Smith on our list for that #2 spot. IMO
I don't know how good this kid is, or if OSU needs him or not, but his comments about liking Michigan growing up sound familiar. He sounds like a few of the kids I grew up with in Central Ohio who cheered for Michigan just because they wanted to be different and just because everyone else was die hard OSU. They had never even set foot in the state of Michigan, but they wanted to be for the complete opposite of Scarlet and Gray, so they went with the Maize and Blue. Hate is a strong word, but I strongly disliked those kids.
Have a great visit, DeVeon.

If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
We don't need another big back. I'm wondering if we're just recruiting him to keep him out of Michigan and not for necessity. That's a mistake IMO.
"I always had my Michigan on whenever we played Ohio State. It was just really funny to be the opposite of everybody." Ha, ha. Next.

Dare to be different, Tenn.
He ends up blue if there are enough spots, imo
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

That's probably right, but I'd rather have Green out of Hermitage and a burner.
