I am helping an author and fan with an Ohio State Football Memoir. We are not sure how the bumpers sticker in 1970 was worded. Was it, "Even on the grass, we'll beat their Ass" or was it "Even on the grass we'll kick their ass". I remember it as Beat their (graphic of donkey).
Thanks for your help.
Rick

Rick,
Talked to a friend who I thought would remember this and what he remembers differs a bit (dropping Even) b/c his memory was the stickers came around after being there for a game on turf that we lost:
"On the grass we'll beat their ass"
Hope this helps!
Hey Rick. Funny that my 1st comment on this site is about this. I was 12 at the time, living in Worthington and pretty vividly remember my friend's Dad's car having that bumper sticker on it. My mom thought it was crass, my dad thought it was funny, and I thought it was the coolest thing. We had lost to the weasels up north in '69 and were meeting them in 1970 at Ohio Stadium. I'm 95% sure it was "Even on the grass, we'll kick their ass!", but I'm checking with a few friends who were around then to see what they remember. If you want to read a good article about the build-up to the game & the game itself, written at the time in "The OSU Monthly" December 1970 go to here: http://library.osu.edu/projects/OSUvsMichigan/news/1970.htm
P.S. Started undergrad in 1977 and you could still see those faded bumper stickers around then. Hope this helps.

Had one of those. Might be wrong but I think it was '68.
"On the grass we'll kick their ass".
The year before scUM installed their first artificial turf field and beat us. I think it was the concrete-like Astro Turf.
