Here's a line from Ace who is Mgoblogs version of Alex, although we know there is no comparison..."while Ohio State did come out on top in the conference recruiting rankings, anyone who expected different when the Buckeyes hired Urban Meyer was kidding themselves. Also, they oversigned, so the moral high-ground remains ours." Did we oversign? Or is this another case of the red-ass by, as I recently was schooled, the highly ethical TUN.

The B1G has strict rules against oversigning (see here and here).
If they are referring to the fact that we have currently 2 more players on scholly than we have spots, that would seem to be only due to the fact that 2 scholarship releases have not been made public yet. I think Urb said we were 81 when you add in everybody who signed so far leaving room for one more while most people had us at 84. Jaamal Berry is one guy who is already gone so we are really just waiting on 2 more guys who are already leaving or taking medical hardship.

Moral high ground? Good one. They're just bitter that it took our worst season in 10 years, a freshman quarterback and interim coach for them to beat us at their own place. And if Braxton hadn't missed three wide open touchdowns (not dogging him, he played brilliantly) we would have won that game.
Also, we're not oversigned, from what I've read.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
They need to worry about themselves instead of Ohio State....They have no idea what is going on in The Ohio State University program so they should keep their pie hole shut.
^^^Precisely^^^
With Berry leaving, we're at 83 scholarships.
Ace should remember the attrition for TTUN when RR came aboard. Of course there aren't going to be as many people leaving since the family value atmosphere didn't erode here.
Is the current number 84 (including/excluding Berry)?
edit: thanks J.Mo
I clicked on it... I regretted it immediately...
It is a frankly dumb line by Ace, who should either know better or should be more careful with his words. It doesn't serve the discussion to call something "oversigning" when it isn't. I think Ace was playing to the hometown fanboys and being deliberately provocative.
I thought Meyer said in his press conference we were at 81, with Berry gone, dosen't that bring it down to 80?
@buckeyecrew, i believe the loss of berry was already factored into the 81 figure meyer laid out
Brian agrees with Ace. Another example:
I guess we'll see...
I clicked on it... I regretted it immediately...
@dubjay, Thanks, I wasn't sure in Berry was released before signing day or just yesterday.
I think it was expected before signing day, but just made public after, or during or what, but I know it was factored in to the 81 that Meyer stated
We will call it releasing players from scholarships...they will call it cutting players. Let everyone think what they want; I don't like the cut players angle myself. I hope they are viable reasons for guys leaving and not just "making room"
SonOfBuckeye: I'd say the same thing to Brian. I will say the same thing to Brian. I think he was being edgy in a live chat. But you are quite right to call it. You'll get no argument from me.
Look, let's agree -- the essential point about Classical Oversigning is the "Exit Interview." In which:
By all accounts, that is lacking for the OSU situation at present.
For all we know, the university has some legal hurdles they have to go through before releasing a few players, either medical waivers or guys who've exhausted their disciplinary warnings. You call the attorneys and/or the NCAA and they tell you first you have to do X, Y, and Z, then you can make the release official. I don't know, but for guys like Ace to run their mouths is irresponsible.
And, let's be honest, here's what the turd Bielema really wants: he wants Ohio State to have been put into a bind, in which the university expects, say, 3-4 additional guys to transfer or be released for totally legit reasons but who might not have officially cleared "waivers" yet (so to speak), and thus the coaching staff cannot fill those positions on NLOID (given Bielema's whiny logic). So, Ohio State has to jettison a few late-declaring studs (like Dodson and Marcus) and either has to scramble for a few leftovers, or bank the schollies, going into the 2012 season with 79 on scholarship, instead of 82.
Yeah, Bielema has the B1G interests at heart, that's why he's bitching - sure.
This is interesting. Some of the commets that is. I think they should take care of their stuff and we should worry about our stuff. If we need to cut players or greyshirt them then that's what we are gonna do.

Moral high ground.......I almost spit out my beer when I read that gem.

M Man I don't often say this but I enjoy your unbiased opinion. My cousin is a UM guy and we have friendly debates, but we don't cross the line out of respect.
With that said...I HATE scUM! BUT...it's nice to have the Big "2" back on top!
I totally agree with the comment about M Man. Most of the time I can not stand the fans from up there. Respect and class goes both ways though and I have read some very disturbing posts by Buckeyes as well. M Man hats off to you.
For sure, M Man wins the award for the most level-headed and fair Wolverine of them all.
