I know theres been a lot of talk about this role in Meyers spread offense. Just looking for everyones thoughts aside from if we land Diggs on friday of who else could fill this role. I think Jordan Hall would be a perfect fit too. Go Bucks!

I suppose Jordan Hall could play a similar role, but I don't think he has Harvin speed. I'm guessing players like Philly Brown or Devin Smith could become focal points, but I'm not sure if they'd hand the ball to those guys or not. Maybe we'll find out at the Spring game. :-)
My guess would be a combo of Hall and Smith.
I hope it was just me, but didn't Jordan Hall look like he was running in quicksand during the Gator Bowl? I don't remember thinking he looked slow ever before that, but he looked slugish returning kicks in the bowl.
James, I agree he looked a bit slow in the Gator Bowl. No matter what role he plays in the Offense, I think Urban will have somebody else returning kicks this season. It will be interesting to see who it is.
A darkhorse candidate for the position could be Ricquan Southward (he's listed on his high school football website as being a big Percy Harvin fan and wanting to emulate him)
I like Southward as well. Can't find his 40 stats but he's fast on his video. Not obvious speed - he has those long strides ala Terelle Pryor. Jordan Hall will play a signifigant roll in the offense I bet. Even if he's not the fastest guy of all time he's got moves & sheer determination. I watched him score that late TD in the Gator Bowl...he was was not going to be stopped regardless of who was in front of him. I think Urban keeps talking about needing speed in public because he wants Diggs to know he's truly wanted at tOSU. That said - there are plenty of fast guys on the team and either way - the team is in damn good shape.

I think we don't have true guy for that role unless stefon diggs commits but jalin Marshall will fill that role.

Is this anything like a barrel roll?
Southward would be cool if he could emerge into this role. Marshall will be fun to watch and for Urban to make plays around being he is a former hs QB and you could throw some passing plays in there too after handing off the ball to him
I love eating rolls....roles not so much :)
Take care of the guy behind me Fox!
Hall and Corey Brown this season. Marshall will be in 2013-2015 I would expect.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
Ive heard the same about Southward as a Percy Harvin... it sounds like he's an under ranked diamond in the rough
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Percy harvin was more of a running back at florida. he is a receiver now, but carried the ball more in college.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
Percy was an awsome receiver at Florida that was also good out of the backfield as he was involved in alot of trick plays (Urban did a fine job of getting him the ball)

Tebows passing stats dropped quite a bit after Percy Harvin left and he made many circus catchs as Tims goto guy. Diggs would be a good fit for that roll but Southward could fit in if Diggs dont happen
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Harvin definitely ran the ball more... your link proves my point

"Shot Ginn" that Tressel ran was using the talents of one Teddy Ginn.

Article about Devin Smith balancing Track and Football workouts.
I think people are overlooking Devin Smith as a potential weapon. Although, I do not believe he is a Percy Harvin type due to his bigger frame, I fully believe a kid who can run a 10.5 100m dash, jump 7ft in the high jump and almost 25 feet in the long jump could be a dynamic threat. Remember, this kid is a football player first and foremost, not a track star playing football.
I look for Urban to use Devin Smith similar to how Ted Ginn was used by Tress. Only I believe that smith is a better natural receiver than Ted Ginn was.
Great article I'd love to see smith emerge as an offensive threat this year too
NolanFick, you GOTTA change that Jim Bollman pic. I realize I dont have one yet, I'll get it done. But please, no more memories of Coach Bollman. He's all BC now & I mean ALL BC!
