Everyone help me contact this Tampa Bay paper and tell them they are grossly misquoting this and making BB's comment look like Meyer is admittedly a cheater.

Bret just said it was an unnamed coach several years ago that told him about how the "other conference" not even necessarially the SEC, and how they don't tattle on each other.
Bret may have been heavily implying some things, but this paper is reporting them as facts and quoting him on it. It makes Urban look bad. Contact them and let them know they need to correct this!
Here's the real quote from CBS Chicagohttp://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/02/01/wisconsins-bielema-questions-urban-meyers-recruiting/:

I wrote an email to the editor. This is borderline libel.
“Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect.” - Woody
"Noah Spence was one of four Ohio State recruits who switched allegiance from Penn State, and Se'von Pittman initially indicated he would go to Michigan State. Two others started out committing to Notre Dame and another to Wisconsin."
Noah Spence never comitted to PSU...
The only way the B1G gets better is the relentless pursuit of talent. Urban gets this.
The B1G needs this. Some of the coaches and programs have been too lazy for too long, and it shows in reputation and perception.
Better get to work, boys, Stop crying. We ain't baking cupcakes round here.
I was on the Mgoblog to see what they had to say about recruiting and OSU. You know all of this is pretty pathetic when scUM fans also believe the paper should print a retraction and most of them are even supporting Urban F-ing Meyer in all this. (Yes, it was hard for me to write this)
Buck U, a reporter tweeted yesterday that Hokey Pokey agreed with Urban on this and verbal commitments are fair game. I'm sure the fans are just following him.
As they should. I have been impressed with Hoke in all of this. Brian of MGoBlog wrote a column today supporting Meyer, bashing the "gentlemen's agreement" concept, and scoffing at illegal.

Fuck them. If OSU and Michigan can represent well, that's all the Big Ten needs. They can have their little "gentlemen's agreement" and we can watch OSU vs. Michigan twice a year starting in 2013.
Class of 2010.
@SHOWTHEMOHIOSHERE - You just brought up something that I haven't been able to think about in a long time because of everything that took place in 2011. It is going to be so AWESOME to beat scUM twice in one season. I get gitty just thinking about it.
commented on the story. hopefully others will see the comment.

The more this guy talks, the more I want to punch him in his dome.
Well said ShowthemOhioshere.
This thing just irks me man. Bielema and Dantonio are just scared their short lived 'runs' are over. If I ever, as an OSU fan, got jacked about the small run of success those two had I'd be ashamed as a fan. Again, I'd like to make the point that many have made as well-A Gentleman's agreement doesn't extend to Indiana, whom Bielema and his cheese heads hung 83 on. But go head and stay atop that high horse of yours buddy.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Thank you BED for commenting on the story. I hope we get their attention

I just sent a letter to the editor on this one with a link to the facts and let them know this does look like libel...thanks for pointing it out. Don't know if it's just shoddy reporting or a biased Florida paper attempting some negative spin. Either way - good on you Bucksfanxc.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
While this is just another example of the downfall of the traditional print media, it's not libel, especially since it involves a public figure. For it to be libel, the paper had to print it with "reckless disregard for the truth" which is an extremely difficult standard to prove.
SANDYTOWNE... it is libel. The article by the Tampa Bay Times clearly states, and i qoute:
He said Meyer asked him: "You know what the difference between the Big Ten and our conference is? I said, 'No', and he said, 'In the Big Ten, everybody tells on everybody. In our conference nobody tells on anybody.' "
When the truth is:
In the midst of answering the question about Meyer Wednesday, Bielema went off on a tangent about a job offer he received in a different conference when he was an assistant at Wisconsin under Barry Alvarez. He didn't name the school or the head coach that was trying to hire him, but he said while that coach was trying to recruit him, he told Bielema: You know what the difference between the Big Ten and this conference is? In the Big Ten everybody tells on everybody, in our conference nobody tells on anybody.
I think that qualifies for "reckless disregard for the truth"... don't you?
I wrote the editor. In my letter to him, I told him it was just between me and him and we handled it reader to editor. THEN, I ran to my boss AND the big ten commish and told them about the article. Then I ran to the ESPN and any media outlet that would listen and told them. Then I shoved 14 hot dogs down my pie hole. Wow, I am so glad I am not Bret B. That's a lot of work!
I really did write the editor though.
Come on MAN!!!!!
