I know this is getting to be old news, but who knows what really went down with Neal? Did we really cool on him and reject his offer or was that just rumor? Can anyone explain what happened??

No one knows, and likely, no one will ever know. Something happened with the Neal camp that Urbs didn't want to deal with and they stopped recruiting him.
Ok so it is at least true that OSU stopped recruiting him, it wasn't that he didn't want us right?? Some how that makes me feel better.

I always trust Urban Meyer. I just wasn't online for a few days and missed the conversation about this. I don't even know if Neal has commited yet lol.

I've heard rumors that he got caught smoking pot on his visit. But I can't really confirm that, nobody can, so take that FWIW. Either way, something discouraged Urban from letting him commit. So, there's that.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.

He said during that coaches meeting he pulled an offer because he and his coaches were reviewing his highlight tape and noticed his last step was out of bounds, instead of leaning forward/into the defender. He didn't say Neal specifically but it's hard to imagine he was referring to anyone else.
Part of me also wishes he'd stop this mess with Diggs too. It reminds me way too much of Pryor, we don't need another diva.
Urban was not talking about neal when he said the out of bounds stuff ERK ATX..the neal situation is all speculation (like that rhyme?)
I think he was talking about him. He referred to him as an out of state, wide receiver. What other out of state, wide receiver did we stop recruitng?
If we're not recruiting people who smoke pot occasionally, goodbye to about 50% of our recruits lol. Most people 18-25 I know have smoked pot at one point or another. It's a sign of the times.
There was talk of pot and Dad wanting to get Neal's cousin on track scholarship.
Anybody think it had anything to do with some $$$? Maybe dad tried to pull a Cam Newton type of deal?? Im just speculating so take that with a grain of salt. But I think sumthing fishy went on...

If i had to bet, i think we wanted him and would have taken him...no school turns down guys like him, no school, you take as many as u can get and see who pans out, the more the merrier, what happened i think was he wants money and we cant do anything wrong after what happened....just my opinion, but i think i might be right....

FWIW - A while back I landed on a link to some news about Neal & his recruitment from an online newspaper in AZ. For whatever reason - all the people commenting were kind of universaly leary of Neals father. There were literally like 100 comments all basically saying the same thing - people seemed to think his father was looking for the highest bidder....

dubjay Im sure his point is the "under a microscope" thing and Urban would be crazy to recruit him if money was involved

yo dubjay...i forgive u...but after seeing the 30 for 30 on marcus dupree and smu and then miami and usc, and oklahoma...plus the movie blue chips lol.....what we did was horseshit as we all know...have my beloved bucks ever done anything? of course not....but if u think every big shcool in america hasnt been doing stuff for the last 40 yrs ur just plain stupid.....Meyer is good at waht he does though, its amazing and wont have too all the kids just wanna play for him......GO BUCKS MDK!!!

@Sub-urban yea i know, to think that only the programs that 'get caught' are the only ones guilty of doing something illegal is extremem stupidity on whoever believes it. But everyone seems to turn a blind eye at the same time. oh well. either way, i love me some pistachios (yes, very off-topic)

As far as Neal goes, good riddance to a big headache.
I have it on reliable authourity from a local radio personality that Neal "mis-behaved" on his visit.
According to my source, the visit and the offer were over on the spot.
The timing and the events make complete and total sense.
Neal was "expecting" two things, and money wasn't one of them!
I live in Cleveland and that's all I'll reveal.
Don't lose sleep on this one. After the events of the past 14 months be thankful coach Meyer pulled the plug on this one. He know's what he's doing.
