OT: Jordan Payton is a dick

Commits to USC last year. Decommits and opens up. Commits to Cal at Under Armour game. Decommits 3 days ago and commits to Washington. Signs LOI with UCLA.

Are you frickin serious? People made fun of Kiel, this kid is a lot worse. What an immature kid.

Can't blame a kid for changing his mind about where he's signing his life away to. Verbals mean nothing, don't get mad at him, its a crazy system

I understand him, and it isn't about changing your mind. Where I have an issue is publically making a commitment without truly considering it. That's a sign of either a weak mind or a need for attention. I mean, 3 public commitments in 3 weeks? Come on.

Not mad at him but people toss around the phrase verbal, like a man/kids word doesn't mean anything. Maybe integrity is something that needs to be questioned in him. Here is a recommendation, until you are sure don't commit. I am even willing to give him a pass once ala..Dodson and several other kids we got in this class. (Exigent circumstances)

I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.

If verybals dont mean anything, then we shouldnt be excited about Burrows and Marshall for next year, and not upset that kalis flipped? I agree with questioning his integrity...imagine if that were us today with someone like noah spence, verbal all the way then today signs with Auburn or something. we would call him every name in the book. i dont know where im going with this, but i think its that if your unsure, then dont say anything, like DGB did, no one had any idea where he was going till today. end rant.

Exactly Dancorona5. That's my point. Unless you are 100% sure, don't commit. And while Dodson flipped, he had extinuating circumstances: OSU had a coaching change and Wisconsin lost it's OL coach and offensive coordinator. This was the case with several of our commits. If Meyer was the HC in April 2011, then Pittman, Decker, Dodson and Schutt never would have needed to be flipped. However, his situation was absurd. He flipped from USC in an offseason that would see them end their sanctions, then he committed to Cal. I know Tosh left after he commited, so that's fine, but why commit to Washington just to flip to UCLA 3 days later? That's a major red flag if I'm a coach. How can you say a kid is mentally strong if that's how he handles his business?

I mean, I'm prone to being indecisive. When I'm at a restaurant, I can't decide what to order until all of my friends are done ordering. So I don't exactly blame him.

I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.

18 isn't what it used to be.  Assuming most of us readers are 25-40, it's fair to say our grandfathers were experiencing a much different world at 18 (perhaps facing the Depression, Fascism, and/or Communism) than we did.  Do the actions of Mr. Payton leave something to be desired?  Absolutely. But it's a stretch to call him childish or immature when many 18 year olds would behave similarly when presented with the same pressures today.

THEBADOWL - Deciding between chicken marsala and blackened salmon isn't the same thing as deciding where you'll spend the next 4-5 years of your life and leave your legacy. Besides, it isn't like these kids are brought in to a room on NSD, given 10 minutes to look at their options and then asked to decide.

You're right.  It's a much bigger decision.

Do these actions taken by this kid reflect someone who has considered the effect of his actions have on others? No. That's a sure sign of selfish immaturity, entitlement and general douchbaggery. Most of us weren't brought up that way and neither were our parents or grandparents.

Vested - I'm coming to Columbus this weekend and would love to buy you a beer. You are "my guy" as far as this board goes.

Agree with vested. Can also tell you that there are STILL a lot of kids today brought up that way. Luckily, it seems that there are a number of OSU recruits that might fit that mold.

Wide gulf between 'immature' and a 'dick'. The first term is pretty valid; the second is over-the-top.

I can think of a lot of thing that are over the top, and calling someone a dick isn't one of them. Telling 3 different programs who worked extremely hard to recruit you that you'd attend in 3 weeks is a pretty big dick move. If you had 3 friends in 3 different cities and told them all that you'd come to hang out all on the same day and then cancelled last second on 2 of them, they would probably say you're a dick. This is even worse.
