Might not be the toughest game, but it is sandwiched between a trip to Cal and then a B1G-opening game against Wisconsin.
Plus, OSU is already playing an up-and-coming Vandy squad in the non-conference in 2013, as well. That fills in the non-conference as Vandy, Cal, Buffalo, and Florida A&M.
The 2013 NC talk could be right on point for Urban and the boys when you look at the conference slate. No MSU and no Nebraska, though we miss out on an easy win of Minnesota as well. 2013 is shaping up as something to keep an eye on!!

I'd just like to take this moment to state that Alabama's out of conference schedule this past year was Kent State, Penn State, North Texas, and Georgia Southern.
Not saying anyone is my "role model"- just saying national championship winners play one good out of conference game at most. Every year. Take a look back.
The chances to win come about so rarely- why would you risk them with more than everybody else does? I don't think this is an area where we need to blaze a brand new path above and beyond the winners in the history of the BCS.
The Bucks should not run away from anyone to win the NC. They have enough Toledo's and Navies already. Schedule a cupcake if you want, but schedule an SEC one. How does UK sound for a nice game.
To put it another way, if somebody told you that you could win $1,000,000 if you won a one on one game against either Kobe Bryant or your next door neighbor, then 13 people in a row won by beating their next door neighbor, then you choose to play Kobe Bryant, I don't think that proves you're brave. It does most certainly prove you are "special" though.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You earn a rep by beating all comers not the Buffaloes of the world.
If you are going to play a walk over, give the money to Ohio schools
Mt. Union could give Buffalo a better game as could Dayton.
Play more Mac schools & UC more than in 13 & 18.
I like seeing the Buckeyes play solid teams. They have the Iu's and Minnesotas already in conference. I enjoyed watching them beat ND and Texas. I want to see them beat USC.
The strategy makes sense but I still love seeing those early season clashes a la LSU v Oregon this year. One of the many flaws of the BCS is certainly teams losing big out of conference games yet being rewarded for beating cupcakes.
Your use of "#boldprediction" reminds me of @CollegeGameDay on twitter which asks for #boldpredictions every week. I troll it so I can reply things like "Oversigned" when they ask for one word to describe Nick Saban's coaching record.

Pretty sure the sec has already had their fill of urban kicking their asses due to conference affiliation. Now he has the shoe to call home...pretty much the best home field advantage in college football. You think they really want to come up here? The big boys don't come north unless they have to, or its a guaranteed win. Not to mention at least every opponent on our schedule is fbs level and not fcs level fodder for the football machines down south. I understand wanting to see the big time non conference games...especially a home and home. Pretty sure we've shown the desire and fortitude to go to anyones home field and give them a game. And bring a nice sized fan base as well. LSU only played oregon because it was a neutral site game...you think they would schedule them any other way? Hell no....that's bcs suicide going to the left coast and facing oregon at autzen stadium. Just saying that I'm pretty sure urban would play anyone, anywhere. Just like tress. And cooper before him. Sure tress would throw the ohio schools a bone and let them get a little national tv exposure. And for the most part they've put up a pretty good fight til the adrenaline and brights lights faded. But in most of my time as a fan, I've seen ohio state schedule team from all regions, all conferences, and of all levels or prestige.
That's pretty pathetic

C'mon man, are you kidding? Edgewood Junior High in Wooster had a tougher schedule in 1966.
If you are professed to be the best, play the best. Ticket prices should be reduced to $25 to watch some of these games.

We are buckeyes. We are the role model.
