1) It's a marathon, not a sprint.
2) It's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Meatchicken is putting together a solid class but nothing that is like "whoa, those are some national elite guys." They still don't have any playmakers and zero running backs.
tOSU has 2 of the top 5 corners in the country; #1 athlete and a highly ranked DT. We're in on some serious talent and will be interesting to see what we put together over the next 2-12 months. Meatchicken is due for another bland signing day with their class being up to 10 already.
Exactly Anononym. Not every Ohio kid can go to OSU, but so far Ohio State has already locked down the top two in the state.
Good for Michigan for getting a good start, but I'm not at all concerned that Ohio State will have a better or equally good class when it's all said and done. The people of Michigan State should be pretty concerned though.
Honestly, great weekend for Michigan, but like others said, while there's a lot of solid guys who committed, only a few stand out to me as "wow, that kid is elite. I'd love to have him".
And, I could easily see us having a few days like thins around or after the Spring game with guys like Foster, Zaire, (Gibson and Heuereman if they haven't committed by then).
Getting a 4-star kid from Pickerington Central (Charlton) and another 4-star from Pickerington North (Butt) is extraordinary. Are any of you guys familiar with the dynamic between Pick-North and Pick-Central? I learned a little bit, in connection with Zach Boren's transfer from North (where Justin graduated) to Central (where Jacoby graduated, right?) What sort of friends/ex-friends are Taco and Jacoby?
Block O - Our 2013 class is off to a great start. Whether it is a truly great class, we'll know in 2017. We need a lot of great recruiting classes, to keep up with Ohio State. As for "playmakers," we already had Shane Morris committed; that's a start.
Together, UM and OSU are doing a pretty good job of picking off kids on this list. I have little doubt about Meyer getting most of the rest of the guys on that list as he might choose; Ben Gedeon is a guy I hope chooses Michigan.
What hes saying is no one in your classes really sticks out like "WOW" they're just blue chip recruits(which is good, im not putting it down) but signing day is a year away, and these kids minds can change all the time, as for ohio states class, we won't be able to go out and sign as many as you guys but i think that will make it a even more solid class because no "maybes" or "buts" are getting in, just solid, proven recruits.
It takes a lot for Buckeyes to admit on a Buckeye fan site that Michigan is beating them in recruiting, or, at least, have notched some quality guys that they want (or would want if they had 25 scholarships to give). LTT is possibly going to be number 11, sometime tonight. Treadwell, Levenberry, Fuller, Pocic, Isaac will be down the road; maybe that will turn some heads.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

M Man, I live 10 min from Pickerington, and I played Soccer with a bunch of kids from Pickerington and the schools split when I was in high school. Their is a rivarly not sure how much it is though. I think it is more a social thing now to what I know about it, Central is where more lower income people live compared to Pick North, you can tell a difference if you have ever been around Pickerington. The North side has Huge houses and more keep going up. Also Jacoby maybe went to Central because they are usually better at Football, they made it to the state championship game this year right?
That's a lot of confidence in those latter kids mentioned...that being said Michigan will have a nice class--very nice...I'm just confident Meyer will have close to the top class in the nation, if not THE top class....going to be a fun ride :)
I think Chris Fox is a WOW type player plus the other recruits all seem to be 4*. TSUN will most likely be able to take more players than us, so I expect that Urban is being really cautious right now. All of the players that have commited to OSU are definetly WOW type players.
If I am right OSU doesn't usually get that many commits until fall anyway. And with limited scholarships I don't see us getting to many till next fall.
I have no doubt that Urban will come out with a top notch class. History proves that. From our perspective, though, it's nice to know he's human and can't land every recruit out there that is on the radar. We're not even a month removed from signing day and our class is (probably) at least half full. That's a long time for kids to mull over their commitments.
@Alex I think Treadwell and Levenberry are very likely to sign, Pocic and Isaac are higly possible (Issac - not anytime soon), and Fuller is hopeful, but won't be until Mid-April, at the earliest.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

@ THAPRINCE614 - I have to call you out on this one.
No doubt a lot of talented players will suit up for the scarlet and grey over the next several years. But no recruit is 'proven' until they actually see the field.
I hope Michigan doesn't sign all those players, but I do want Michigan to be good, in 2006 it was awesome to watch #1 vs #2 the last game of the season, I like when both teams are good it makes things mor interesting.
You say you expect Pocic to sign and that has me wondering, how many OLs are you guys taking? You already took 5 last year and now have 4 more already for this year. Just curious and thanks for the info.
Great weekend for our rival. It should be noted that a significant majority of the kids they got do not overlap with us- and the two they got who were OSU targets (Fox & LTT) have long been considered Michigan leans. I'm not saying "We cooled on them", or anything of the like because we definitely would have taken both of them. Let's not forget the great start they got off to last year too-- we all know how the final rankings ended up :) History is going to repeat itself.
You know what? Tressel signed a lot of nice classes that were top 10, and it was enough to win the B1G, but not enough to compete with the USC's of the world. So, Hoke can land a lot of nice classes and be the coach of the 2nd B1G to make the BCS every year. Meyer will land better classes and be competeing for bigger things than a B1G title.
Meyer was critical of the class he just signed. The number 4 class he just signed. Anything but a top ranked class is coming up short in his eyes. Michigan is killing it right now, and good for them, and I'm not going to say these aren't guys Ohio State wants. I will say though, that Meyer hasn't whiffed on anyone in this class yet. The first 4 in this class are awesome. The next few are going to be equally good or better.
I'm not here to downplay what Michigan is doing, but is it really surprising who they are landing right now? When Meyer loses a Jalin Marshal to Michigan then I'll start to worry about the classes they are landing. They are going after the class they want and Meyer is going after the guys he wants. We'll see how it shakes out in the end, but something tells me Meyer's class is still going to be a higher ranked class. If those guys pan out we'll see. Michigan has fine recruits for 2012 and are off to a great start in 2013. Meyers haul was better in 2012 and will probably be better in 2013, and he's a better coach, that's all I care about.
I have a hard time seeing Michigan getting any more top offensive linemen given the number of solid commits they've already got in 2012 and 2013. If these top commits have aspirations to get playing time and eventually move into the NFL (which I assume most top prospects want) then they would be better off looking at schools where they can play.
Ohio State has recruited well at OL as well, so perhaps that precludes us as well, but not to the degree that it should preclude Michigan from obtaining more top OL commits.
All reports indicate that Pocic no longer has Michigan in his top 3 after this weekend's OL haul. FWIW, a source said that OSU, ND, and Illinois are his current top 3.
@BTAlbert
Not that we wouldn't take Marshall, Burrows is who we really wanted (but knew we didn't have much of a shot). Trotwood Madison has been a pretty nice funnel for Michigan in years passed.
@DMC
We will take one more OL if it's the right guy (Tunsil or Pocic). It seems as the Pocic ship has sailed and while Tunsil is warm on Michigan, we're up against the upper echelon of the SEC (Bama, LSU, Georgia, and Florida), all of whom he is also "warm" on.

Ohio kids who are not good enough for OSU need a better alternative.

This is a much nicer respectful banter thread, thanks to the school up north fans who bring a opposing point of view to this site.
agree JasonBuck...how it should be!
Agree Alex, I think we all appreciate it when it isn't the trolls. Opposing points of views are always nice when it's respectful.

in an interview with someone related to UM, Pocic has dispelled rumors of having a top three, let alone one that excludes Michigan.
I don't see anyway Tunsil doesn't end up in the SEC and most likely it will be Florida.
He's going to be the butt end of many jokes! /lamepun
