Is It Possible The NCAA Lifts The Post-Season Ban?

No, OSU didn't appeal the ban. It would be nice though

What about pressure from the B1G? That's a lot of money to lose (i.e. TV) over two, post-season college football games. What about the BCS? Did you see the ratings for the bowl season, recently concluded? Ohio State and first-year head coach, Urban Meyer...can help!

I feel all new staff and I think all the players that were in trouble are now gone this team should not have to pay for a few others mistakes. Cost us in recruiting yes. But these other kids that have come to OSU should not be deprived.

I want to ineligible for a bowl game. That gives the recruiting trail all to Urban in December.

I'm sure that the B1G and OSU want us to be in a bowl game, but unfortunately that's irrelevant. NCAA imposed a ban and it won't be appealed, so the only chance is for the NCAA to decide to re-visit it's decision out of the kindness of their hearts. Not going to happen.

Since some have said it isn't harsh enough and others have said it is too harsh, I'm sure they feel they have an appropriate penalty in place.

MACKRM408 I see your point but winning bowl games can also have a HUGE effect on recruiting so I dont think not being in a bowl game will actually help much...

How exactly could the postseason ban get lifted, since we didn't appeal it?  I wouldn't think the NCAA would come out of nowhere and say "After much consideration, we've realized that banning Ohio State from postseason play this coming season, instead of last season, was an unfair ruling on our part.  The vast majority of the players that were involved in the violations have departed the team, and it would be unfair to punish current players for the mistakes of past players."

Let's say we do go 12-0, and nobody else in the FBS finishes undefeated.  At the end, we're really the best team, but wait, we're banned from a bowl game.  The MNC becomes a #2 vs. #3 matchup.  Is the NCAA going to come out and say "OK, since Ohio State is the only unbeaten team in the FBS, we are going to lift their ban and let them have their rightful place in the MNC game"?  I don't know.  I doubt it - I guess it would depend on the media, and if the NCAA feels like they're in a credibility pickle.

The guys who got usc in trouble have been gone for a while, but the ncaa upheld their postseason ban. So the whole everyones gone argument is out the window. Its a moot point no matter how you look at it.

I tried to Google if the NCAA had ever lifted a postseason ban.  This post was the top result.  No relevant other returns, LOL.  I don't see how it would happen, even if we were undefeated and the clear #1.  Imagine the butthurt if it did.  Coack K's sore butt would seem like a slight twinge in comparison.

I dont think it is necessarily a bad thing with this bowl ban. It sucks yes but at the same time it will be nice to not have the pressure they would have in a season that ends with a conference championship and bowl game especially with getting used to this new offense.

Agree the postseason ban will not be lifted.... but....

Would the staff ever consider redshirting all of the seniors-to-be that haven't used a redshirt yet?

If they did, we'd have the following returning for the "title run" in 2013:

Adam Homan

Zach Boren

Reid Fragel

John Simon

Storm Klein

Jordan Hall

Nate Williams (not sure on him, he's taking a medical greyshirt this past year, meaning he still has a redshirt??)

Thoughts (yes, I realize it is way out there and will never happen)?

I think there is an equal chance of the NCAA lifting the ban and senior starters taking a red shirt year.  *cough* zero chance.
