It's been mentioned on several sites like Scout, and 247 that Giovani Bernard is the "mystery" transfer that is considering OSU. Some on 247 have claimed that this transfer is already a done deal, but I find that highly doubtful. What are your takes on the transfer situation 11w commentariat? The guy is incredibly fast, shifty and played very well this past year racking up 1,253 yards on 239 carries for a 5.2 YPC and 13 Tds, as well as 45 receptions for 362 yards and 1 TD. So how likely do you guys/gals find the possibility of this transfer happening?

I don't know how likely it is, but I'd welcome it in a heartbeat. That is one hell of a stat line for a freshman. I like Hyde and the future looks pretty bright for Dunn, Ball, and maybe Smith as well, but this guy looks like he is going to be quite a player. Bring him on.
Thanks for taking the topic of my thread. There's a lot of commentary of that here: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/football/2012/02/somethings-going-on..., including comments from 11w staff. No need to have two threads discussing the exact same thing.
Edit: Sorry if any of you were taken aback by this, I just got tired of seeing 1000 Stefon Diggs threads lol.
Well, he definitely fits Urban's need for a speedy playmaker. I think we'll have two years with him and Marshall, that could be a very dynamic offense.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Fwiw, no one knows the likelihood. Period. Check out the 8 pages of posts on it and you'll see :p. The 'insiders' are as clueless as anybody on the topic.
@RecruitBuck.
Calm down. Your thread targets no single player in it's original state. The commentary is composed of conjecture that includes Sammy Watkins for heaven's sake. I put up this forum to solely discuss the possibility of Giovani Bernard, because I saw the rumors posted on Scout, and then saw it was mentioned in your forum topic. I didn't "steal" anyone's idea, it's a forum topic, don't get into such a tizzy, let's not pull a Kevin Noon.
Is this actually in the works or already a done deal (just hasn't been made public yet)? I'm assuming this young man's a WR....what class is he in (2012 or 2013)? Guess I'm lagging a little behid on this for some reason.

He's a running back for UNC. It's a rumor, that is all at this point. People are claiming that it is a done deal or that it is being processed. I was just posting this forum topic so that we could discuss the possibility of this happening. The guy is an absolute stud by the way.
So he's a class of 2012 recruit then obviously. I guess we'll see what happens.
Shendig
@JShene10- He played the 2011 season for the Tarheels and the rumor is that he may transfer to tOSU.
"Love my State, hate the football"
@ Jshene10 No he was a class of 2010 recruit. He was a RS Freshman this past season and was stellar.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Giovanni-Bernard...
Can't imagine that a kid of his caliber wants to sit out a season, but it would be great. He could enter the draft after next season if he puts up similar numbers again at UNC as a RS-Soph.
vacuuming sucks
Maestro, I think in the other thread that Recruitbuck started someone suggested there may be a loophole that the kid can transfer without waiting. I think the bowl ban of UNC would have to be as many years of eligibility as he has left, which would be a long bowl ban, but UNC has some severe sanctions so, who knows.
thanks BT
vacuuming sucks
I haven't looked at all of the exceptions but the two most commonly used are a hardship transfer, and the one time rule. He isn't eligible for the one time transfer rule because UNC is a four year institution and that rule only applies for transferring from a 2 year to a 4 year school. I don't see how he could get a hardship transfer either seeing as he is from Florida. I also don't see UNC getting a 3 year bowl ban.
I know he is good and all but why would we need another runningback, we have 5 good ones on the roster and probably 2 more for next years class of 2013. And only Hall graduates. I don't see Meyer getting a running back that won't even play till 2013 that would be a huge log jam of running backs and 1 if not 2 would probably transfer.
This guy may very well be better than any RB on this team or that will be coming to this team in the near future, and he has 3 years of eligibility left. I absolutely take a guy who is an immediate upgrade for the offense. His freshman stats were incredible. If this guy wants to transfer bring him on is what I say.
could be Urbans Percy Harvin guy since we didn't land diggs he'd sit out a year have 2 years of eligibility left. It would be a perfect time for him Hall would be gone he'd have a year to run scout team and get used to the system I like this move
If this turns out to be true, I'll have to toot my own horn, and take credit for guessing right on the mystery transfer. I guessed it might be Bernard on the very day that the "news" came out, not based on any inside info whatsoever, but strictly based on reading between the lines of the very limited rumors being reported, etc.
Hell, my silly speculation might have started this rumor, now that I think about it . . . these days, you never know.

Here's video of Bernard schooling the U pretty much on his own.
We'd be lucky to get him if he was interested!
Why would he transfer if he can just gut out two more years then go to the NFL? Idk, I just don't see it happening.
@Bucknasty Playing in BCS Bowl Games, and possibly winning titles might mean something to the guy. He won't do that at UNC, but he certainly could at OSU.
There's NO COULD, that's WILL win a championship.

Remi - pretty sure your post violates the policy here.
@Remington Totally uncalled for, check the commenting policy before you post, wouldn't want to get the banhammer. Appreciate the back up, but no need for that.

Thanks Remington. Come up with something that actually contributes to the forum then we'll talk.
My thread is similar, sorry to the OP or anyone I offended. I thought my second comment's lighthearted nature cleared that up. Serious, mods? Banhammer? I did nothing wrong, and was just point something out, as you can see by my addendum. It was more a point at the question Will initally asked. I guess actually contributing makes me a pussy, a bitch, and whiny.
Unless you actually enforce the commenting policy, 11w is just going to turn into another pointless, immature, flaming forum.
@William,
Sorry dude, I never said you stole anything. I just got tired of duplicate/triplicate Davonte Neal and Stefon Diggs threads. The initial question you had asked was answered early on in the other thread, now that it's beyond that, it's all good. Carry on :)
I'm with recruitbuck. Everyone who is a normal contributor/poster on this site is generally pretty respectful of other people's opinions. If we disagree with them we go about it differently than remmington. I'm with everyone else.....BANHAMMER! <-----(sounds like the name of a german metal band)
I think he just thinks he's awesome since he went to Georgia Southern. Thanks @Pitt. I try to keep it respectful (and well worded, which I think was the problem with my post), even on my Mgoblog account (@Intellegencia, I try to clear things up in a positive, respectful, impartial manner). Just like M Man here (one of the best forum contributors that posts).
My apologizes to whomever I offended, I love most of you (swoon as if at Aaron Craft)
@Remington
SMH, been a member for little over a week and already lashing out are we? Magic 8-ball predicts a short layover here, then off to your native habitat: the ESPN boards. /shudders

The "Don't Be a Jerk Section" while very important does give me a bit of a laugh. It reminds me of a few years ago when the Bengals came out with the jerk line, where fans were encouraged to call in and report people who were being jerks at the game. They wound up getting bombarded with pranks and people calling to report Mike Brown being a jerk.
That comment was totally out of line and definitely falls under the jurisdiction of "don't be a jerk". Totally uncalled for.
Haha glad to know I have friends.
@REMINGTON2323
A mere two days after we publish a commenting policy and you come with this?
C'mon, man.
Thanks Jason! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1NwW3GCn7k
Back to Bernard, interesting thought, I think Meyer was recruiting him to gaytors, he then opted for heels and played for Withers, possible connection. I thought the rumor was " big time transfer to TOSU " , or something like that. Saw him play @ S.T.A. in Lauderdale and he was solid player on a stacked team. I personally do not think he qualifies as the " big time transfer" but who knows.
I apologize. It was uncalled for, just thought it was ridiculous how upset recruitbuck got over the possibility of two threads having the same topic. But agian I do apologize to recruitbuck and the board for the undesired language, it wont happen agian and I hope to contribute to this forum in a positive fashion in the future. Go Bucks!
Okay Remington, I accept your apology.
What's up everyone... Bout time I step up my game as a Buckeye fan and get an account on this website... Been reading articles and this blogs forever and have always wanted to contribute. With that being said, Gio Bernard would be a great get for us if it could happen, but I just saw on ESPN rumors yesterday about Whiting possibly transfering that : "Another potential factor in the decision is Ohio State's scholarship limitations due to NCAA sanctions. The Buckeyes currently have 86 players on scholarship. Meyer needs to trim the roster to 82." So I'm not sure how we can get any transfers in at this point in time, especially since we need to get 4 more players of scholarship, 3 if Jordan leaves... Anyone else have any info??
I'm not surprised ESPN seemed to use info from The Lantern article. Urban has said (a few weeks ago) we're at 81, but I believe there are a couple transfers (or whatever) that haven't yet been made public. I'm sure the staff knows a lot more behind-the-scenes details than we do...
Premium (HotMic) at scout seems to think it's not Giovani.
I heard someone say that Bernard doesn't count as a "big" transfer? Are you serious? This kid was would have been ACC frosh of year if it wasn't for the Clemson WR. 1200 yds rushing, 45 receptions, 13 TD's, he is really fast and elusive and oh yeah he fits perfectly into the Meyer offense. If you don't think this kid would be a huge transfer then you are smoking crack. This would be huge and an could help fill an area of need. That is all I have.
Does this whole "Big Transfer" thing even have legs anymore? It seemed like when the news broke, the transfer would be announced within the next couple of days. Is this being delayed, or will it just not happen at all?
Class of 2016. Go Bucks!
I've said it all along and I'll say it again... I doubt anything happens / comes about.
