On road from Baltimore but: -Taylor Decker is a Buckeye -Joey O'Connor will be a Buckeye soon in my opinion since he WAS offered -David Perkins LOVED his visit but is taking visits to Cal and Illinois before deciding. I think he was told to hold off on committing for now until the staff decides if he is a commitable offer. -heard Neal's visit went well....not much more here yet -Cam Williams and Armani Reeves visit Wednesday. With two CBs booted today I expect a Reeves offer made firm and both commit to OSU. -my updated predictions are Dodson, Reeves, Williams, O'Connor, Neal and either Perkins or Diamond, maybe both

Love it.
Thanks as always Alex,
Can we take 7 more?
Thanks for the updates!
wow -- talk about a closer....that would be one hell of a closing job by Meyer and co.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Thanks Alex and the rest of the crew
You guys always seem to be on top of the sprots buzz and thats what brought me to this site.
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Alex,
Great work as always, love the updates! In your opinion, who do you think will be the next recruit to commit?
O'Connor is likely, or Reeves and Williams go public on Wednesday.
Not sure how you drive, tweet, and update 11w all on the road, but thank you Alex. The good news just keep coming- besides Taver going south :o/
So glad to get a solid tackle. Still want to get tripple D's.
oh the irony of that last comment.... :)
O-H-I-O
Any news on Devan Bogard's and Kyle Dodson's trip to USC this weekend?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
GREAT news Alex. Thanks...

Welcome to the family.

Having Decker in the Class of 2012 is a great boost to our OL... I'm a speed guy, so I only hope Urb can reel in Neal to add to this class... Coupled with a probable Reeves commit would be a great start to seeing Meyers offensive oblective... Who knows, someday people (ESPN) will start saying, ”B1G Speed". Better yet, ”Buckeye Speed“.....
Capn, Make It So...
Are we capped at 25 (5 more recruits) or can we get up to your prediction? My 5 hopefuls are Williams, Reeves, Neal, Dodson, and Diamond.
What ever happened to Joel Caleb?
For those who are curious, here's a chart of the scholarship breakdown. At this moment, we should have 3 open scholarships remaining.
https://sites.google.com/site/scholarshipbreakdown/home
I got that chart from this site.
http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/football-recruiting/627376-2012-scholarship-breakdown-class.html
Bassplayer, that's my count also. I guess we're expecting a few medical hardship releases though. If we only wind up with 3, I'd like Diamond, Williams and Neal.
edit/But I think Williams and Reeves might be a package deal.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Only 3 more schollies? Even with Clarke and Gambrell being dismissed from the team?
This is what Neal had to say about Ohio State!!
Athlete Davonte Neal took his second official visit of the year this past weekend to Ohio State. Neal had previously visited Notre Dame.
Neal considered the trip somewhat of a coming home party, as he was born in Ohio and lived there until he was seven.
“The last time I saw Ohio State, I think I was in the second grade,” Neal said. “I really liked it there. It felt familiar, but there has also been a ton of changes. I think what stood out most was the academic center and the support the players get from the tutors and counselors. They keep the football players accountable and that’s important to me. I loved the campus, and the new dorms they’re building are real nice.
“The football facilities were incredible, everything is state of the art. I love the stadium. That Horseshoe is really cool, and I got along great with the players. They’re all just regular guys like me, no one had any big egos or anything like that. We all just hung out and joked around and played video games all night.”
Neal said the coaching staff and especially Urban Meyer, were very impressive as well.
“Coach Meyer is pretty incredible,” Neal said. “I can see why he’s such a good recruiter and so good in the homes. He can really relate well to players, and I love how he carries himself. He has a lot of swagger for sure, and I had some great talks with him. He’s funny and can tell a great story but also knows when to be serious. They’re recruiting me as a slot receiver and he said they want to use me the same he used Percy Harvin at Florida.
“Overall, this was a great visit, and I really felt comfortable. Notre Dame was great, too. The two schools are different in a lot of ways but also similar. I think just because of how comfortable I was at Ohio State, this was probably my best visit, but I’m not ready to name a leader or anything. I’m just saying this was my favorite visit but I have three more to go.”
You mean Neal wasn't offended by being compared to Percy Harvin? Yet another reason I want this kid....
Jameis Winston is not going to make a visit to Ohio State via Bill Greene
Holybuckeye,
Not that I don't appreciate the info, but you just cut and pasted an ESPN insider article without mentioning the source at all.
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/west/post?id=1843
James F, the less we traffic our viewers to that trash of a website the better. I only wanted to rely the info that I found to you guys on here so you don't have to go the WWL and read their other garbage.
If we get all of Dodson, Reeves, Williams, O'Connor & Neal, I'll be absolutely ecstatic. Add Diamond and it'll feel totally unreal. Lots to look forward to!
Related to 2013, Marc Givler tweeted that Cam Burrows is announcing his college choice at 4:30pm on Thursday at his high school. Anybody have an inside scoop on this? Are we still thinking tOSU?
I would add Perkins to that list. He is a freak of an athlete. Would love add some athlete to the LB corp.
Anyone hear anything about Jamal Marcus. On tape he looks like an absolute monster.
Wish List:
Dodson
Neal
Perkins
O'Connor
Williams
No Diamond cause i do not think that we will have room and he seems like he will commit last
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
Last I saw on Jamal Marcus, he is still planning to make his official visit this weekend.
Do you know the chances he commits? cause I read somewhere he would rather stay close to home.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
I think most are seeing it as a long shot, but you never know once Urban gets them on campus.
Yeah if he visits I like our chances. Urban is sooo good at sealing the deal when he gets them on campus. I cannot think of any recruits who have visited while Urban has become coach, who have commited elsewhere. I know some who have not commited at all, but I do not know of anyone who decided to go elsewhere and told Urban no.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
You guys say 3 scholarships left before medical hardships, is that including the 2 DBs that were recently kicked off the team?
The chart I linked above does take into account the departures of Cash, Gambrell, and Clarke.
So I'm hearing Cam Burrows will be announcing on Thursday anybody else worried that this is happening while we do not have a Db coach
Hardly home but always reppin
I understand your concern, but that issue should be resolved fairly soon I'd think. As for Burrows, somebody on Buckeye Planet said he was in C'bus yesterday. Any confirmation from those in the know would be fantastic.
My guess is the fact that no DB coach isn't a bother to Cam, he'll have plenty of time to get to know whoever the DB coach will be and Urban may not even be thinking of using Cam as a CB
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Would love to hear your opinion on this Alex
Hardly home but always reppin
Cam Burrows will be a Buckeye
Thanks Alex
Hardly home but always reppin
I haven't started looking at '13 yet. How big is the Cam Burrows news?
Burrows is one of the top 6 players in the country according to rivals. One of their only 5* for 2013 so far.
Anyone following Gunner Kiel today (#1 QB in the country by some)? Kid was supposed to be an early enrollee at LSU, then apparently today he didn't show up and is going to be at ND tomorrow to enroll. Now LSU insiders are saying they still expect him there. Off topic for OSU but still insane
J. Marshall will be right after Burrows!
Williams commits wed! Reeves maybe! As for numbers Urban can take what he needs> There will be room because of at least 1 more Med Hardship! 1 current commit may not make grades to get in. Aslo a couple more may transfer & then there is J. Berry court case, he may be gone!
This might be a dumb question, but might Meyer bank any scholarships this year, for use later when you guys are limited? I know the numbers get very confusing, and I know that it is not usual practice, but...
DeVante Harris has committed to Texas A&M, I wonder if he'll still take the visit to OSU on the 27th
It does seem a little strange that Berry is getting a wait and see, whereas the other two were given the boot immediately. I don't know all of the facts in all 3 cases, but it does seem like his would be about on par with the other two. It is possible that given the conversations that Urban had with the kids, that Berry was the most contrite and apologetic, coming off as having learned his lesson. Who knows, but from outside it seems a bit strange.
Now that the Cal coach(can't remember name) moved to Washington, does that affect O'Connor at all. I think his only other visit scheduled is Cal, and they have a lot of recruits reconsidering now with the coach leaving, not sure if he recruited O'Connor though. Personally would like to see O'Connor join this class just as much as Dodson or Diamond.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Berry hasn't been in trouble since Urban came in.
In terms of being apologetic, Clarke on Twitter seems like his world is falling apart. I really wished Urban worked something out with him like take him off scholarship and make him earn it back by staying out of trouble, doing well in school, and being a positive influence in the community. I really feel for the kid and I hope he rebounds in a big way and eventually faces Bama and knocks Duron Carter the hell out. Now Carter is a moronic brat that needed the boot.
Yeah, already figured Winston wasn't visiting since yesterday
@RDUBS: Berry is probably still around because his transgressions took place before Urban arrived. I would assume Urban is making a conscious effort not to hold past problems against players, but is quickly dealing with any issues that happen on his watch.
Class of 2008
M Man: I think the Buckeyes have too many needs to fill for Urban to bank any schollies. Besides, I believe the sanctions began with the new year so we're already down to an 82 scholly limit.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Alex,
Can you predict a possible date when it might be alittle more clear to use that commits may be a sure thing? Or the one we are looking forward to say yes?
Capn, Make It So...
@J.Mo I feel sorry for the kid too (Clark) However, with everything that has happened this last year these problems need to be addressed immediately. NCAA will be watching tOSU with hawk eyes for the forseeable future. These kids have to learn they are part of a program not bigger than the program. Just my opinion.....
Yeah, I'm hoping some school picks up Clarke. He was so promising at the beginning of the year
Alex Kozan knocks his choices down to 3 schools, Iowa Michigan or Auburn
I hope Kozan goes with Iowa at this point.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Just read on Buckeye Planet that Joey O'Connor is a Buckeye!!!
2013 Middletown (OH) ATH Jalin Marshall will make his college decision on January 31st
Expect Marshall and Burrows in Scarlet and Gray
Would be great to land both of them early.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I read on one of the recruiting sites, ie: Scout/Rivals, that D. Perkins had to really chomp at the bit at not commiting to tOSU over the weekend! Then on his twitter acct i read that he wrote that he just got home and had already been missing everything in cbus and couldn't stop thinking about his visit and wished that he was back there still. This one looks really good guys!
Perkins announcing tomorrow per Allen Trieu.
@Buckeyenation: The big question mark is do we have room if we get Reeves and Williams along with Neal and Dodson. I guess the experts will have to decide whether he is better than Santos and Marcus. However a guy who wants to be here the most and is nearly is talented might be more likely to become a stud... We'll see and 2013 is looking bright, I hope by the end of January it looks just as bright, but Alex doesn't let us down too often so I'll trust him until there is sufficient reason not to.
does anyone think Perkins will commit to TOSU?
Capn, Make It So...
If it truly is his decision and not up to the coaches (waiting for people to get back to them who are higher on their board), then Perkins will end up a Buckeye. The way I see it, Williams, Reeves, and Dodson are must gets and I think we've closed on them. Neal > Diamond > Perkins in that order. So people will be fighting for spots when it comes down to it. I don't know how the coaches see it or how it will pan out.
Marshall and Burrows are Buckeyes.....
Perkins not as sure about but you have to like the timing (just came off OSU visit) and circumstances (only officially visited OSU out of his 3 finalists---Illinois, Cal, OSU). Maybe Urban gave him the green light to commit????
Perkins would be 22. Dodson would be 23. Williams 24. Reeves 25........
Diamond, Neal, Bradley all could end up in the class too.......wow this is amazing
Alex, did you notice that Bogard had some comment on him doing a lot of thinking on Twitter by the way? I'm not sure how to read that, really... But I found it interesting. Could have nothing to do with football or everything to do with it.
Perkins should be a Buckeye, I would be shocked if he isn't, and rumor going around that Cam Burrows bought a Montana State hat. I know it's silly, but just reporting what I hear.
Se'Von Pittman addressed the rumor that he was unhappy with his commitment to Ohio State.
"That is not true at all and please put the truth out there," Pittman stated tonight (Tuesday night). "I don't know where that started, but it is not true. I am 100% a Buckeye."
If we go over, that is technically oversigning, but in the non-malicious way. :S
"Oversigning can occur in two ways. First, if a school signs a number of NLI that may bring their total number of counters above the NCAA limit of 85. Second would be to sign more than 25 NLI during the period between National Signing Day and May 31."
Bogard is playing the game and says he is committed to OSU but USC gave him some thinking to do. If I had to say right now he stays with OSU, but it wouldn't totally shock me if he switched. he's saying all the right things right now though so take that for what it's worth.
Guessing with the Cal LB coach going to Washington that Cal is out for Perkins, leaving OSU and Illinois. The Illini were late in on Perkins and he didn't even visit there, making OSU the obvious choice. David texted me basically gushing over the OSU visit, but it was unknown if Meyer would take his commitment. Looks like that may have occurred.
Bill Greene is screwing with all of you and joking about Burrows buying the Montana State hat.....you're all too gullible hahahaha
Pittman is all Buckeye
@BTWRESTLE:
He said that changes were good and might be good for him.
That's why I said it was silly lol but I just thought people would like to know either way :p
@Timbuck again, what does that really mean? Again, we're trying to read a 17 or 18 year old's mind. That's a dangerous thought in its own right.
Shelton Gibson was offered by NC State today
I hope Diamond doesn't commit here. He seems like a real diva with a lot of entitlement issues.
As for Berry, his problems may be of the mental issue variety. I have heard rumblings that he may battle mental illness. The staff could be dealing with a sick man, not a bad one.
Has Diamond actually said anything to make you think that or just because he's taking visits? I haven't really read much about the kid and almost think he may go elsewhere since Decker, O'Connor(though he'll probably be a guard), and hopefully Dodson will be signing on. Anyway, if the kid is really good, I want him period. Urban will whip him into shape on the Diva side of things, and if he still has those issues after coming to the program, well he won't last long.
Demetrious Cox will visit Ohio State this Friday
Diamond's twitter is what i am basing a lot of it off of. He isn't lacking confidence at all. I have heard that he may wait until after signing day to make a decision. Players that have done these things in the past have not worked so well. (Henderson, Brown...)
Per Allen Trieu
"Just to clarify on Perkins: Announcement is at 3pm (EST), looks like he will not visit Oregon any longer. He didnt name them as a finalist."
Joel Caleb taking a visit to West Virginia this weekend, plans to visit Georgia next weekend
It's now being reported that Jameis Winston will visit Florida State this weekend, then Ohio State on the 27th after reportedly saying he wasn't going to visit Ohio State. Kid needs to make up his mind where he wants to visit. I don't know if I can confirm that or not but I would really like to know.
Bucknuts has Perkins committing to OSU
I'd bet USC is telling Bogard that we don't even have a secondary coach right now. So they are working that instability.
We are at 22 with 3 maybes. The maybes being Bogard, Lewis & Southward. My spreadsheet has us at 78 right now & I have Berry gone and the 3 maybes not included. We could take 7 more with attrition of 3 before Fall or we could take just 4 more. I think there will be further attrition of at least three and that probably 2 of the maybes are not in this class.
David Perkins is officially a Buckeye.
The best thing for OSU's recruiting class is if we lose Lewis. Kid has an absolutely terrible temper and attitude. I'd MUCH rather have a scholly available for Santos or Kimbrow than waste one on this thug.
As 11W gained popularity it was inevitable that some dickhead posters would show up.
Rumor mill said Southward may flip? Any truth to this????
Sorry.... I ment. Decommit
Capn, Make It So...
@Northbrook - Huh?
@Sox33OSU
First, don't trash a Buckeye recruit. That makes you a dickhead.
Second, and way less importantly, nothing is official until a letter of intent is signed.
No it doesn't. It makes me someone who knows about a kid's character. I truly don't know how he is making the grades, and he's been kicked out of practices and almost off the team because of his attitude. The fact that he's an OSU recruit doesn't make him impervious to criticism. The kid is a loose cannon and a low-character type of kid that we DON'T need. Grow up, Northbrook.
Capn, last I heard, Southward was considering a visit to Florida.
@Sox33OSU, we see things differently. When you get older you will see that you are the one who needed to grow up.
...? You have no idea how old I even am, and your statement said absolutely nothing.
Anyhow, the fact still stands that we could do a lot better with that scholarship than an arrogant kid with discipline issues. We've already got 3 other WRs in this class, and even if Southward decommits, we have better depth available. I'd rather have it be available for a player at a position of need.
Your posts are abundant evidence you are not yet old enough to know better.
Northbrook, without even knowing who I am, you labeled me a "dickhead", yet I'm the one who isn't old enough to know better? What is it that I still have to learn? Stop embarassing yourself already.
Sox33OSU and Northbrook - Both of you are embarassing. You need to stop before you guys get the boot.
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
If I get the boot for passing along facts about one of our recruits, so be it. It's not the end of the world. I am simply passing along information I have gotten from people in the coaching community at both Pick and Lancaster who know the kid. If he comes to OSU and turns it around, great! All I know is, the people who know him best haven't been impressed with him on a personal level, and we've already taken our lumps from having kids like this.
I'm not to concerned about his personality. Mariotti will fix that ;)
I sure hope you're right, TimBuck!
guys let's take it easy on eachother here......all Buckeyes
Is perkins going to want to play RB
Schack
He seems pretty focused on playing LB according to this article.
http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1149779.html
I don't think Urban would've let him take up the offer if he wanted to play RB. Sounds like he wants a speed back, not a power back. He'll play LB. I want Kimbrow!
Good article, he doesn't lack confidence
Schack
One of the Midwest's top 2013 pass rushers in Avon (Ind.), Elijah Daniel, 4* has plans to be in Columbus.
Four-star cornerback Kenneth Crawley out of Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson is closing in on a decision. In fact, the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is focused on a handful of schools with a decision date coming. Schools narrowed down to Ohio State, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan State and Oklahoma.
Did Crawley ever visit?
No, but we offered him and Ohio State is still on his list. He has only visited Colorado so far. He might go there.
Gene,
I know your trying to be of help, but you're making it sound like you're the originiation of all this info. Give credit to the the twitter accounts you follow that actually report the info...
I do give credit, just not all the time, I don't really think about it, but it shouldn't matter as long as people get the news imo
Whatever. It makes it sounds like your some big recruiting analyst when you say "I can confirm..."
Not trying to come off like that, I'm just sharing information is all. Not a big deal really.
Per Marc Givler
2013 OT Alex Gall Cincinnati, OH Archbishop Moeller will check out Ohio State
North Carolina and Miami (FL) have both offered Eli Woodard today
Rich Rodriguez paid Davonte Neal a house vist, he scheduled to make an official visit with Arizona Feb 10. Trips to Arkansas Jan 20 and North Carolina Jan 27 are scheduled as well.
Rich Rod can guarantee him some xtra practice time without any record of it. :)
O H I O is the Buckeye State
@Genestarwind- Thanks for sharing information! Much appreciated, you big recruiting analyst ;)
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
lol I would be getting paid if I was a big recruiting analyst :p
David Perkins after a home visit with Meyer today
"OSU ain got a thing to worry bout Me an coach Meyer had a great talk over dinner he asked if I wonna take visits I said na ima Buckeye 100"
Perkins said on twitter that he will be wearing #25 for the Buckeyes. That leads me to believe he will be playing offense, unless Bradley Roby plans on changing his number.
As for the jersey number issue, one of David's followers asked him about Roby already being #25 and David responded that Bradley was looking to switch to a single digit number
Roby can now be #5 since Clarke is gone.
vacuuming sucks
I hadn't checked lately, good stuff. Thanks for the clarification.
Scout and Rivals has Demetrious Cox and Jamal Marcus for visits this weekend after speculated if they would indeed take a visit.
Marc Givler says that Marcus will be taking a visit as well.
I think it's safe to put them both on the list for visits this weekend.
Bam Bradley cancels his Michigan State visit this weekend and is thinking about making another visit to Ohio State. Bam is down to 3 schools, OSU Pitt and Stanford.
#1, #3 and #8 are also options for Mr. Roby.
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.
Neal is not making a decision on a school till signing day?... We won't have any scholarships left by then. Urb wants speed like his,
Capn, Make It So...
@Capn
I heard Neal was gonna wait until after signing day because he wanted to take all 5 of his visits. If its true its a shame because I wanted him and we might not have room for him. Although if we can land Neal, Fabian Moreau( UCLA verbal), or Brian Kimbrow ( Vandy verbal) for that "Percy Harvin" type role I would be happy. Alex do you see any of these 3 signing with us on Feb 1?
Devan Bogard says he's not going anywhere "I'm a solid commit to the buckeyes !! I kept my word!"
Jeremy Cash is at Duke right now, looks like he'll be playing ball there
Winston says he's not visiting OSU once again, says he has narrowed it down to FSU and Bama
Bad idea to start removing offers from committed players unless they have academic/legal issues. Recruiting involves many things, one of which is trust. Players decommit all the time, but I don't want coaches to start.
Kyle Dodson has scheduled a visit to MSU tomorrow. Already visited Auburn, USC and currently a soft commit for Wisconsin.
I know Neal is visiting Arkansas this week. I currently live in AR and and one of my friends told me that they have like 20 guys visiting including Dorial Green-Beckham. Any chance this visit could cause Neal to choose AR? Does Neal even have a list of top choices yet?
Sounds like Jamal Marcus has moved OSU up to the top of his board. He's only taking one official visit, and it's us. I doubt he leaves uncommitted.
As far as Neal goes, we will have room. If it's coming down to it where it might be a question, I have no doubt Urban will get the job done.
So I guess Meyer is paying Dymonte Thomas a visit at his school.
Givler reports that Meyer made a stop to see Darron Lee. 2013 Class Dual-Threat QB out of New Albany.
Any word on Urban's visit with Neal today? And I hope the bradley news is true, would like to see him end up at osu, maybe cam has been in his ear about playing together.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
What's the source on that Dymonte Thomas bit? Saw he was talking shit about OSU even after Urban arrived.
Alex retweeted something dymonte saying Urban was visiting his school, To be honest, personally I'd be suprised if he even visits osu let alone flips.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
@BJ Notre Dame paid him a visit too today and no word on it yet, but I'm sure we will find out soon
@Matt It was Dymonte Thomas himself, he tweeted "How did everyone find out that Urban Myers is coming to my school tomorrow?" and supposedly he's going to be decked out in Michigan gear when Urban pays him a visit.
The offers continue to pile up for RB Ty Isaac, Arkansas offered him today. Makes it 14 offers for the Junior.
Ricquan Southward still a solid verbal.
“I’m still very solid to the Buckeyes and ready to sign,” Southward told Loy, who is a friend of The-Ozone and a recruiting analyst for FlaVarsity.com.
Jamal Marcus has narrowed his choice to ECU and Ohio State.
