-Cam Williams supposedly not taking official to PSU this weekend. This news comes after it appears his recruiter will not be retained by O'Brien. Couple in the fact that his best friend, teammate, and father's god son, Armani Reeves was contacted by OSU last night (not sure if offered) and you have something brewing here. I like OSU's chances A LOT.
-David Perkins (LB from South Bend, Indiana) will be making his official visit this weekend and confirmed that with me again today.
-OSU has apparently offered two Under Armour All-Americans from Texas in WR Thomas Johnson (former Texas commit) and CB De'Vante Harris (former Oklahoma commit). I put both in the "long shot" category unless they visit
More to come in this week's notebook as things eveolved, but thought I'd give you three quick updates I had from today.

Agree both Texas recruits are probably long shots, but I like that we are spreading a larger net and offering more kids on a national level.
Sweet. Cam Williams is on my short wish list with the Decker, Diamond, Dodson crew.
vacuuming sucks
Taylor Decker reaffirmed his commitment, so that's not happening. I'd go with Williams, Dodson, Diamond, Neal, and possibly Reeves or O'Connor.
Awesome, our chances are looking pretty good then if he's not going on his official.
Thanks for the update!
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Alex, thanks for these updates. Any word on Dodson and/or Diamond, and if Reeves comes as a package deal with Williams (assuming Urb gets 'em both), will that affect who OSU goes after to close out the class?
I like Dodson to OSU....Diamond I still think OSU has the best shot right now but that is a kid you just don't know until he signs....
If Reeves offered, I finish with Dodson, Neal, Reeves, Williams, Diamond, and one of either Bradley/O'Connor/Santos/Perkins
If no Reeves, same list with two of the last four
Are those Texas guys '12 or '13 class?
Both Texas kids are 2012
Let me say this first--I never had any complaints with the recruiting classes Jim Tressel brought in to Columbus, but if Alex is right and Urb closes with Dodson, Neal, Reeves, Williams, Diamond and pick 'em, that's almost not fair.
There are shots across the bow, and then there a nuclear detonations above cities. If that's what Urb closes with, that will definitely be the latter.
This is my first post as a new member of 11w....and Alex for a guy just really getting into paying attention to the recruiting scene for tOSU (life long fan though)...I must say thank you for all your hard work! You the man!
Welcome to the brotherhood JASONBUCK!
I'd be thrilled with those guys you mentioned. I read that Cam Williams and Armani Reeves will be deciding before signing day. I hate when the guys wait and make you keep an open scholarship.
Arent they canceling visit to retake it later so they can meet with O'Brien?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Thanks BUCKEYENATION! Good too be here! The PSU blogs are blowing up over these developments...its almost sad. I think they still believe Les Miles is still coming too be their coach and this is all a bad dream! Also was checking out all of BOB's hires, kind of funny they are all from Duke (other than the hold overs). Hey at least the colors are the same lol!
Next dual threat Qb at OSU?

Lol just watched it....Oscar is the man!
When is NLOI Day (Signing Day)? OSU definitely needs to find some OL and a capable KR/PR in this class.
Feb 1st is signing day.
thanks for the update Alex!!
That wuold make a sweet class even sweeter
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Props Alex. Love the intel.
Only 22 more days until NLOI.... and 24 days untill the Oversigning Period in the SEC.
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.
Williams and Reeves will visit PSU at some point to meet O'Brien but the longer this goes on the better.....the bucks WILL get an unofficial with Williams and Mom and WILL get an in-home
Great news on Williams, I have a lot of faith that Urban can close the deal with him.
Looking forward ot updates on the O-linemen, which imo is our most glaring need left.
Alex, as always, stellar stuff....
Just thought I'd add that Demetrious Cox is visiting this weekend.
Do we have any shot at Diggs? Although I understand the importance of O-lineman (absolutely must have) and Linebackers (need quality dept) I feel like this recruiting class will be incomplete without an electric returner/athlete which we haven't really had since Ginn left. Jordan Hall deffinetly has some shake, but he's not the type of blazer that return kicks and provide the same type of spark as a Harvin, Ginn, Hester etc. Can O'neal be that guy?
- Respect the Rivalry -
I agree FTTV, while I think O-Line is the greatest need, we still do need that "burner athlete" to put a pretty bow around this class. Without that guy, it's still a fabulous group as is, but that guy puts us over the top. Neal sounds like our best shot, and getting him is huge.
Who all is visiting this weekend? And of all the ones visiting, are any expected to commit this weekend?
I'd love to see us get everybody visiting this weekend which at this point means Cox, O'Conner, Neal and Perkins. Other than that we need Dodson or Diamond (I don't think we would take both if we get O'Conner) and Williams. That might do it but we might take one more like Reeves.
Just fyi, here are the officials for January at the moment (got this from the Buckeye Planet forum):

TBD (not sure if visiting yet): Stefon Diggs, Armani Reeves (if offered), Jordan Moore, Thomas Johnson, De'Vante Harris, Jamal Marcus, Tyreece Jiles, and some other new names on the way
More to come in Jeremy's recruiting article today and my Notebook on Thursday
sneak peak is I will have ANOTHER interview with Eli Woodard running tomorrow
With O'Connor visiting this weekend, do you think the TE and OL coaches become officially official this week?
I know the staff are not ha[ppy with the overall quality at LB but I'm still amazed at the number of LB recruit names that are turning up. Might Perkins be slotted elsewhere? Alex, what are our chances for getting a Winston visit?
Perkins will be a LB
We are thin there...next year it will be Klein (Sr), Sabino (RSr), Shazier (So), Grant (So), Whiting (RJr) Crowell (RFr), Roberts (Fr), Perry (Fr)...that is it for scholarship players.....8 players for 3 spots with 2 seniors (and a Whiting who I can see leaving) isn't exactly setting yourself up to be deep in 2013...we need 1 more, if not 2 more backers
If Winston visits I'll believe we have a shot....I'd say 20% chance that happens (visit)
Thanks Alex. Have you heard anything on how Crowell is doing with his rehab? I thought he might be quite a player here before that nasty ankle break.
Oh, where is Hagan? Medical? Other position?
LMAO. Look at how big their heads look in that video.
I've read from two different sources that Reeves is going to get offered today but haven't heard anything official. It seems like if OSU offers Reeves too than the two of them would be a package deal to Ohio State. If anyone can confirm the offer please post below.
Crowell is doing well...expected full recovery
Hagan will be medical hardshipped I believe....if not he is playing STAR
Have heard Reeves may be offered today...he has not heard from OSU about the offer yet, so there is nothing to confirm other than the fact that he expects an offer soon
Good to hear about Crowell as I thought his highlights video looked rather good. I hope he won't lose any of that speed he seemed to have.
Would signing Reeves be a smart move? I haven't been able to watch any of his film, would be better than Cox or Bradley?
I think I just watched 2010 highlights of Reeves on Offense, but he does look rather good especially when he turns on the jets.
Reeves is a CB...Cox and Bradley are safeties.....Reeves is VERY good, I'm just not sure CB is a need....regardless if it means getting Williams I am ALL IN for Reeves
Alex, a little bit off topic but on topic....What happened to Oversigning.com? Did the SEC put a hit on the author?
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
ha no clue...guessing they didn't pay their server/hosting bills
Sorry one last question, I've watched videos of both Camren Williams an David Perkins, I think both look like great players by from what I've seen I prefer Williams right now. I'm not a great evaluator of talent so who would you prefer Alex?
DGrubbs:
I pick Williams over any other LB available...Williams/Marcus/Santos/Perkins would be my order
Does the Big 10 have a 25 scholly limit per year or can you go over that limit to replace the kids who left? So if a team lost 27 players to graduation and/or the draft, can they only sign 25 the next year or can they go past that limit to reach the 85 max scholly limit? I'm a lil out of my league when it comes to total scholly rules.
The league has a 25 player limit but I believe they will allow you to oversign to reach the 85 player limit, but you have to provide the league with a reason as to why you're signing more than 25 players. I know that Minnesota has signed a class of 27 within the past couple years, and that was in order to reach the 85 player mandate.
You can only go 3 over to reach the 85 limit with justification to the league office. 28 is the maximum total allowed.
What SPQR2008 said is also what ive read on the B1G rules
O H I O is the Buckeye State
I think O'Connor needs to be offered. You can never have to many good lineman.
"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it you lost a day. We ain't got many days to lose. We're going to push your a$$ like its never been pushed because what you've got in you were going to find out" UFM
I've seen a rumor that Brown and Carter have been dismissed. Anybody know anything about this?
Were Reeves and Williams a package deal to PSU? Is Williams considering scUM too? This would worry me if Reeves is really a lean to scUM. We need Camren Williams in this class.
Adam, I'm fairly certain I read Cam was not going to visit scUM, so, if Reeves goes to scUM, Cam and he would no longer be a package deal.
Wow, there has been a lot of activity this week as far as offers and visitors. Alex, I look forward to your recruiting update!
WR Monty Madaris is down to UC and Michigan State.
