Recruiting buzz has died down a bit since the holidays started. I have been following some of the OSU targets for 2012 and it doesn't seem like anyone is an OSU lean right now. Diamond hasnt shown much indication of being a "silent" commitment. Who is going to fill out this class? Are we going to land any of the top athletes?

Patience my friend. Lots of these targets are osu leans. It looks like we will have to wait a little longer than we want, but guaranteed, Urban Meyer is doing his best to reel in some big fish. Oh how happy I would be if we stole Taylor Decker from the Irish because of Warriner jumping ship.....Screw 2011 and let the good times roll!
O-H-I-O
I am bored at home today. MOAR RECRUITING NEWS PLZ! Seriously though I'd jump for joy if we got a big recruiting/coaching update today.
Yeah easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.....it was holiday season, as well as the middle of the dead period...visits aren't being taken as recruits spend time with their families on winter break etc........not the hottest time for recruiting although things should start to pick back up here in the next few weeks....
Also, I would say OSU trails nobody for Diamond and Dodson, with Decker now possibly coming on board thanks to Hinton and Warinner......Good shots with Cam Williams and Davonte' Neal as well...and if Winston and Diggs visit, you never know....Jamal Marcus may visit and David Perkins is visiting....lots to come
recruiting notebook tomorrow will feature Decker, the visits coming up in January, and the Bowl practice notes.
Thanks Alex. I really look forward to your updates. I thought the last couple of weeks were a "dead period", is that an official dead period, or just dead in the sense that teams are in bowl prep and everyone is spending some family time?
hopefully this helps explain things...its on espn's website with explanations of each period.
Dan is the man, thanks....now I know why I didn't see it - it's on ESPN's site!
Dan/Dr. Ken - I think that calendar is one the rest of the conferences use, because I found (made) this alternative one....

Well played, sir.
Love it Buddha....
Alex, for those of us, like myself, who aren't up on all the terminology . . . what exactly is the difference between a quiet period and a dead period? I'm assuming it has to do with official and/or maybe in home visits?
Quiet Period - Recruits can visit with coaches but only on those coaches' campuses.
Dead Period - No in-person contact is allowed, coaches may make 1 call per week per recruit.
also recruits can call coaches as much as they want during either of those so there's always ways to talk to these kids somehow (3rd party tells so and so to call Urban etc)
Heard somewhere that Kyle Dodson said he was 80% committed to Wisky, people are now worried he'll be stay in Wisky. However didn't he always say he was still committed to Wisky? If so this is a good sign because it is the first time he is saying he's not completely Wisky still.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification Alex. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's article.
BJ - if that remaining 20% is leaning to OSU, I'll take our chances with Urban and Warriner (if he is indeed the guy) turning that 20% into 100%.....
Happy to oblige. I should have taken greater creative freedoms with Oversigning periods.... In hindsight, one oversigning period seems light... was 2 pay periods enough?
Always looking forward to more recruiting articles.

I am not worried about Dodson staying with Wisky...in fact, I will be surprised if that happens
With all of the coaches leaving Wisky, are there any others we might want to (or be able to) snipe if we don't fill out our class with the names currently out there?
Hearing from Scout's site that LB Dalton Santos , a soft Tennessee verbal, is down for visiting OSU Jan. 27th

Not guud.
Where is Jordan Whiting?...

Yeah I believe we have an older version of Santos on the team already in Storm Klien
Though, it would be funny to view AJ Hawk's improvement list in the early days of 2002.
Saw on a 247 sports message board about a visit Mike Vrabel was making tonight, its a vip thread so I can't see who it is he is visiting. Anyone happen to know what recruit he is taking a visit too?

He's meeting with Cam Williams tonight.
BTW I am loving this coaching staff being assembled.

Ok sweet, thanks! Figured it had to be someone on defensive side of ball.

Are any Ohio State recruits that are yet to declare expected to announce their commitments at the UA game tonight or the Army game Saturday?
No...not announcing at the games
