Neal Decision: "Past Signing Day I Know That"

Just confirmed what we've all been hearing: Davonte Neal will be waiting until after Signing Day to make his college decision.

As you know, I have been speaking to Neal today and the stand out from Scottsdale, Arizona will get an in-home visit from Stan Drayton tonight.

I still think this comes down to Arizona or Ohio State and it's really a toss-up in my mind. With kids like this, they tell you what you want to hear though so I wouldn't be too surprised if other finalists like Notre Dame, Arkansas, or UNC win out. Still, mildly surprised if it's not Zona or OSU.

Let's hope Stan's visit with Davonte goes well tonight.  I can certainly understand Davonte taking time to make his decision.  It's certainly an important decision to make.

Why are they only running Drayton out there and not Meyer/Fickell? I'm assuming Meyer knows best but let's throw everything but the kitchen sink.

I think Meyer was there already last week :)

Didn't Neal start the recruiting process late? I thought I read that somewhere, but if so then I can certainly understand the decision to wait a little longer.

He did start "late"...to be honest...not sure why though

Hmm... not sure either. But I don't feel that TP feeling about him though, like TP just took time to be the center of attention, is that a possibility? I don't know much about his character or personality.

Did TP wait to be the center of attention?  I thought he was slow in deciding, because he was playing basketball.

That's how I viewed it. If not then so be it, but that's what I pulled from him taking so long.

Pryor won the championship then 2 days later was in basketball season, so he didnt have time to give it thought...the thing i didnt like is that he held a presser on signing day to tell everyone this (he has time for a presser but not the other...) then when he finally does announce he holds another presser and says the University of Ohio State...i knew we were in trouble, just didnt know how much at the time.

Also if you are as good as Pryor or Neal, you have coaches constantly in your ear telling you that their program is the best.  It seems like it would be nearly impossible for an 18 year old to make such a tough choice with so many good options.  Honestly the only way I would be able to make that decision even remotely quickly is if I had a specific place in mind as a young kid (ie grew up wanting to go to OSU).  It's one thing if you're offered by one top tier program and then some lower tier ones, because then you have to decide if you want to go to the best possible program or do I want to get a bit more playing time.  Deciding between top programs is more or less like flipping a coin.  They really aren't that much different. At the end of the day they all produce top players, so if you have no prior allegence I can easily see this taking forever.
