I was looking at the Indy Star's list of candidates and Tressel was one of them. They had a poll about it too. Fans seem to think that Gruden or Cower will take the job, as both got over 20% of the vote, but in 3rd place at just over 10% was Jim Tressel. Wouldn't be surprised if it happens. Can't see either of the high profile guys or Dungy coming out of retirement.
I will instantly become a Colts fan. Is Gonzo still playing???
He was on the team but maybe only played a few snaps all year. He's an unrestricted FA so I doubt we see him in a Colts uni again.
As far as Tress coaching here, I think a lot of locals would approve, myself included. With Peyton at the helm I think he'd be less likely to play it close to the vest. I'd love to see him get a shot.
I can't imagine with the pay the Coordinators get in the NFL, he'd be the dicatator when it comes to offense that he was in Columbus. I think he'll make an agressive push for the job in t he interview though. He's best suited for the college game, but this show cause basically made him retire from coaching college. At least by his own admission, where he says he doesn't want to be coaching until he's an old man. We'll see I guess. I hope he gets it.
BUCKSNUT13, he is a great amazing coach. How the assistants faired without him this year should tell you all you need to know. He coached a perennial Big Ten/National Championship team with less help than any coach in America has/had.
Pam, I didn't either. Title IX is a contentious issue. You and I probably agree on lots of other issues/things. Like, I know that you'd never put ketchup on a bratwurst . . . just kidding.
Well if Peyton is healthy enough to play he doesn't need to hire an OC or worry about calling plays. He can focus on special teams and finding a solid DC.
A chunk of Ohio would instantly become Colt fans. I have mixed emotions though. He'd be a great hire, but I know the ESPiN bashing of him(Rome, Skip, etc) would start again. I'd laugh if the Browns hired him.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Rdubs, actually I could see a clash of philsophies - LOL. Manning drops back on 3rd and 15 from their own 38 yd line, attempting to throw deep over the middle to pick up the low percentage FD, gets sacked for a 8 yd loss. When he comes back to the huddle, JT scolds him, "I wanted you to run a draw play, so we could punt 'em deep inside their 20 yd line . . ."
Know why writers on CBS put this kind of garbage out, they know it's going to get a ton of hits and a bunch of people commenting and arguing in the comments. You could just as easily write a blog saying a "source inside the Colts organization" says HELL YES he's going to be our coach. This guy got his schooling in the same place our old buddy Brooks did.
There was a reason why the guy who wrote this article got fired from his last job, Indianapolis Star here. CBS and Mike Freeman are jokes, just like ESPN, I don't believe much of anything from either site when it comes down to Ohio State. But thought I would pass it along anyway just for some shits and giggles.
Rumors here in Indy that Tress is already on his second interview. And it's been known for some time that Irsay really likes him. Who knows if he will be HC, but it seems logical Irsay will want to keep him around in some capacity.
I always liked the Colts organization, they seemed to be a "family oriented" franchise. Tressel would be a good fit, if JT is to ever coach professionally I think this would be the best place for him.
ESPiN's worst nightmare: A successful Tress winning a Superbowl w Indianapolis. The headline the next day, "Ohio State's disgraced ex-coach eek's out improbable Superbowl victory" ---"Rides Lucky (see what i did there) horse to finnish"
The first paragraph would be an interview with the opposing headcoach on how it feels to lose to the despicable weasle Tressel.
.......got a little carried away, just read ramzy's article and im all fired up!
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
God, I hope he is hired. And then forces a trade with OAK for Pryor. That is all.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
and then wins a Super Bowl.... WHAT???!!!!
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.
Good guy, hope he gets it. The Colts are really the only NFL team that fits him...

Would love to see Tessel there, but how could Gruden who loves ALL qb's pass on a chance to work with Manning or Luck???
Gruden and Cowher are both saying they are not coaching, most likely EVER again. I can see Tressel landing this job.
"I love my job and I'll be back at ESPN with the guys," ... "I'm not going anywhere."
- Jon Gruden
You seem to have a good feel for things and your reports have been great so I hope you are right for Tres. That would be great for him...
would he still wear the vest?
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Yeah it would be good for Tress, being able to coach again. Yeah, I can see him wearing a blue vest on the sideline haha
Where is the link to him interviewing? All I have seen is his name being rumored. Please provide a link if you post something like this.

It should be on this site, but I heard from word of mouth from Hondo Carpenter, TV Editor/Publisher and Host of SpartanNation.com
Good, I hope he gets the job
hate to see a great coach like him go to waste
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Very very good coach, not great coach.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
Great coach and great man
Pam, you and I agree on something.
Well I would finally have a favorite pro team!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day

greatamazing coach. How the assistants faired without him this year should tell you all you need to know. He coached a perennial Big Ten/National Championship team with less help than any coach in America has/had.October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
@Run_Fido_Run, I never doubted that.
Uuugggghhhhhhhh!!!!!! I don't want to root for the damn Colts after they passed up Beanie for that sorry ass out of UConn.
Pam, I didn't either. Title IX is a contentious issue. You and I probably agree on lots of other issues/things. Like, I know that you'd never put ketchup on a bratwurst . . . just kidding.
LOL...that is all.
Boy some people hold some silly grudges, Is It Saturday Yet...
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I'm torn on whether he'd make a good NFL coach or not...
On one hand he puts a large emphasis on special teams which seems to have a big impact in NFL games
On the other, he did air it out much, and that may hurt him in what is a "passing league"
What do you guys think?
Kettle meet pot.

I think he deserves a shot as a head coach again. I don't believe he will get the Colts job. But when he does I only hope the best for him.
Run_Fido_Run, I'm not sure what you meant by "Kettle meet pot."
I recoginize your name from your commentary on here but I am not sure I have had too many encounters with you...
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I hope he gets it. They would instantly be my 1-A team right after the Brownies.
'No way in hell' Tressel will coach Colts

Good lord Genestarwind, thank you so much for that link. It reminded me why I never go to the CBS message boards.
vacuuming sucks

...Hoping to be able to Rock the Scarlet and Gray sweater vest on Saturday's, and the Blue and White one on Sunday's.........
There are winners and there are losers, and then there are "THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY"
FOOTBALL BUCKEYES!

thought i'd share

Looks like Chuck Pagano is taking the coaching vacancy.
ESPN is saying Pagano unfortunatly
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
