He moved up to the #8 overall recruit on ESPN. I heard that he was by far the most dynamic athlete at the UA game. Do you think we will still have space for him by march?
Well, I personally believe he will decide in February shortly after his Arizona visit he recently scheduled for Feb 10th. RichRod paid him a house visit. If he takes forever, you won't see him in Scarlet and Grey imo. There isn't much room left.
I want this kid real bad too. Its just too bad he's been taking his time with this recruting process. Get your visits in make a decision. Waiting just hurts the other players that are the "back up" plans for other schools, that are ready to commit. Hopefully, after his Arkansas visit he'll realize OSU is the place for him
I think this is a kid you wait on....no reason to force a scholarship on someone like Fabian Moreau, although he is a great kid and player
Looks like we're passing on Joel Caleb so throwing all our eggs in the athlete bag of Neal....if he comes, great....if not, one more scholly for 2013....
Alex, I don't disagree. Neal is quite the athlete for sure, and it isn't a bad thing that he's taking his college decision very seriously. I hope he makes the right decision. ;-p
He said all of the schools on his visit list have told him that they would wait for him with a scholarship, even though it is going to be at least 10 days after the Feb. 1 Signing Day.
"I like to know that there is a school that wants me that bad," Neal said.
Davonte' also wouldn't say UA was the favorite just because he is looking into the Wildcats last at such a late date.
"I'm open to anywhere," Davonte' said. "I've not decided on where I want to be. I'm open to all the schools. All are evenly matched."
Luke Neal said he expects to hear back from Arizona State this week about visiting Monday with coach Todd Graham. He said Davonte' is open to meeting with ASU.
Luke said the Notre Dame coaches didn't push football onto his son as much as academics and what a degree at Notre Dame means.
"Their stance was, 'We're not recruiting you for football, but what the reality of life is,' '' Luke said. "I think that's how they recruit kids. They give you the information and lets you know, 'You have to understand what the degree is worth.' ''
I get that you can't teach speed, which is why Neal is so valuable. If he doesn't join the party soon we shouldn't wait for him. Just go get another speed merchant. Even if they're a little raw like Moreau, use 2012 to prep em for the 2013 run at the NC.
Besides, if Berry doesn't get kicked off the team (big if) he's the ideal guy for Meyer's offense and he'd be a senior in 2013. Who knows, Berry could have a Troy Smith-like turn around.
I agree if I was Urban and didn't have a good feeling about Neal I might pull the trigger on Moreau especially if he's ready to commit and willing to take a red shirt year to soak in the offense. He may not be game ready like Neal but from the highlight film I saw he has comparable speed
I agree with the post above. Although watching that film breakdown on Moreau was pretty impressive (especially his hands & breakaway speed). He is def a hybrid type player & could be quite versatile within Coach Meyer's offensive system once he learns how the system is run. I'm not saying settle for "second best" so to speak, but if that can be a player that you can utilize consistently within your offensive schemes, why not keep your options open & even offer him?
Take Moreau. Neal's good..great actually - but this whole "I wanna know a school really wants me" is garbage. To me it sounds like "I need to be the star of the show". These kids are usually amazing atheletes but often come with ego and entitlement issues. Feels like we're getting almost too caught up with the number of stars. So yeah - lets get a good kid and develop him...just some thoughts.

I concur. Do Not let this prospect get away...

We need him and has to be a top priority.

According to this blog, tOSU will keep a scholarship open for Davonte.

I think ESPN said he will be deciding the week after signing day.
Who do you think is our greatest competition for landing Neal? Would it be Arkansas or one of the AZ schools?

A source close to Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral's Davonte Neal told me he feels Neal won't leave the state of Arizona for anyone but OSU.
