frank epitroupolos

I don't know about you guys, but no one has me more excited in this recruiting class than frank. Our team was always far better when we had guys like Gonzales, Hartline, and Sanzenbacher. I think frank is next in line of receivers like that who get the hob done at ohio state and i cant wait for him to succeed hopefully

I agree with you. He's gonna be that guy to fill the shoes of the guys you've listed in the past. I can see that happening 100%

I don't know about you guys, but no one has me more excited in this recruiting class than frank. Lets face it, the Bucks need the "gritty white receiver" to win. Our team was always far better when we had guys like Gonzales, Hartline, and Sanzenbacher. I think frank is next in line of the gritty white receiver at ohio state and i cant wait for him to succeed hopefully

Really? Is this post serious? That sure is some hard hitting analysis, cause we all know Gonzalez, Hartline, and Sanzenbacher succeeded beacuse of the color of their skin. Look I'm all for a serious discussion about Frank and his future prospects on this team, but is it really necessary to frame such a discussion around the color of his skin?

we're all on the same team here, its just a funny coincidence my friends and i noticed. calm down i think he could just be the next sanzenbacher type guy

I don't think the guy was trying to make it out to sound like that. I mean, when you look at past rosters in the last 10 years, there is mainly only one receiver that was white. I don't think he's trying to make it into a color thing. I believe he was trying to say that Frank is going to be that next guy. Gonzalez, Hartline and Sanzenbacher are in the NFL, things look promising for Frank. Notice how he put quotations around knitty white receiver, I knew what he meant. They don't come often.

Mitch don't even worry about it. You basically just said what everybody thinks. Instead of using the word "white" they use the word "scrappy." Hah, those two words have become synonyms in college football. You're right though, the white, sure-hands reciever was a staple of Tresselball. Don't worry about the holier-than-thous. So long as you are not being deraughotory (excuse the spelling) about race, you are cool by my standards.

Every team needs a guy who can be counted on to move the chains but I think it's unfair to classify Gonzo like that. He had the luxury and curse of playing with arguably the fastest Buckeye of all time so the next step was an easy one to take-Gonzo must be the possession guy. He was pretty damned fast himself-faster and more explosive than both Dane and Hartline. (evident by his status as a first round pick). I know you didn't mean we need a 'white guy' to win. I think you meant we need a guy capable of moving the sticks with consistency. Those guys in the past all happened to have the same thing in common. With that said, Michael Jenkins was pretty damned good at finding the first down marker too. The idea is there man, I get it-we need a stick mover and I think that Frank can be that.

I got what you were trying to say. lol Though Ohio State did have that last season. They just decided not to use him all that much.

The funny thing is Frank's body type and play style resemble Robiskie much more than they do Gonzales or Sanzenbacher.

Gonzales and Sanz were 3-4 inches shorter than Robiskie and Frank.

Gonzo (6', 190#), Sanz (5-11, 175#)

Robo (6-3, 190#), Frank (6-3, 195#)

Beat me to it Dallas. I was just about to make that comparison. Watching Frank and Robo on film, they are very, very similar. Tall possession WRs that aren't burners but have enough agility and vision, along with strong route-running abilities, to be effective. I'm actually looking forward more to Mike Thomas. It's going to be nice to have a legitimate red-zone threat at receiver. He's got great hands and plays physical, but also had speed.

Dallas/Sox: I know, if Frank is going to be pegged as a "white receiver," how about they put about 15 lbs of pure, wiry muscle on him and we start comparing him to Ed McCaffrey?

sox33osu's picture
sox33osu on 23 Jan 2012 - 10:01am #

Or they could put about 35 lbs of bulk on him and we can compare him to Joe Jurevicius.

Frank and Mike Thomas have been mentioned, but let's not forget Roger Lewis earned his 4th star recently and is supposedly a good playmaker and Southward is probably very underrated simply because he had to wait his turn to play in high school because he was behind other D1 bound WRs.  They could be quite the interesting group of receivers.

Oh, and it's "Epitropoulos".  We'll have a spelling test later.  ;-p

He needs more breakaway/separation speed to be a threat downfield.  I would say if he can improve that...we will be much better off. Not saying he isn't good...and don't care about the color of his skin. If he's a "Baller"...and he improves the team...that's all that's all that matters in my book...\m/ \m/
