Yes, this story has legs, it's a basically a for sure thing that Ed is joining the staff as the OL Coach. Don't be surprised to see Ed Warinner join Urban Meyer's staff at Ohio State as offensive line coach. Meyer interviewed Texas A&M offensive line coach Jim Turner and Tennessee offensive line coach Harry Hiestand. Turner has recently accepted the offensive line job at Texas Tech under Tommy Tuberville.
"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it you lost a day. We ain't got many days to lose. We're going to push your a$$ like its never been pushed because what you've got in you were going to find out" UFM
All I know about Warriner is the ND fan base likes him, and he was in the running to be promoted to OC after Charley Molnar left to be the HC at UMass. Brian Kelly ultimately decided to go with Chuck Martin the DB coach because of their history together.
I am also hearing a lot of chatter that Ed Warriner is heading to Nebraska too, so I think I'm going to wait until this becomes offical before getting overly excited about it.
On a side note, I have a hard time see Greg Studrawa coming over to OSU. The man already has a pretty cushy job at LSU, so it wouldn't really make sense for him to make a lateral move to OSU to be co-OC/OL coach. The only things that are in OSU's favor is that Studrawa spent two seasons coaching with Meyer and he's an Ohio native, both of which might pale in comparison to the pay raise LSU is about to give him.
How about a link confirming that Warinner in on staff?
Found article in the trib for Hinton to tOSU. All it said about Warinner is that like Hinton he is gone "to pursue other opportunities" and there was a possibility that he would be joining Hinton on Meyer's staff.
Apparently, Brewster was bobbing his head before every snap, and the Florida players used that to their advantage.
Jim Cordle also apparently had some things to say about Bollman, but it's on Scout, and I don't have access to those details. Here's one of his tweets about snap count.
It seems to be popping up on the internets slowly but surely, on such obscure websites as this and this.
Specifically, for anyone too lazy to click on a hyperlink (hey, I'm often that guy), posts on 1/2/12 showed:
Ohio State: We have confirmed that Tim Hinton will have the additional title of recruiting coordinator (in addition to coaching the tight ends).
With this post as well:
Ohio State: We have just learned that Notre Dame offensive line coach Ed Warinner is also leaving to join Urban's staff.
With whomever it is that runs the "Football Scoop" site noting Urban and Ohio State's football coaching staff to be "pretty solid." I for one couldn't be more excited to grab someone so well regarded as Warinner. Name including the word "war" and not "boll" aside. It does also beg the question, as the aforementioned obscure website's lone commentator mentioned, does this mean Taylor Decker is back in play? It would make sense, with the position coach leaves, he could use that as a door to back track from previous statements (not to mention with a former ND coach now also being, potentially, also a recruiting coordinator). Hopefully with a O-Line coach in place, players like Mr. Diamond will finally become more solid so that we can start putting the bow on this year's class and start moving on to next year's group. Anyone else going to be drinking in the preciously sweet tears of the M!ch!g@n faithful when our recruiting class surpasses theirs on signing day, after hearing about how bad ass the Missigan recruiting machine had become all year?
Every year we have at least one report of an opposing defense scouting us and picking up on something that gives them an advantage. We apparently never had anybody assigned to self scout and prevent these things. I hope our new offensive overlords have a much higher football IQ, defense too for that matter. I'm confident we will be much harder to read.
Notre Dame fans crying about Coach War's loss. Yes, Coach War. That's what I'm calling him from now on (pending confirmation of hiring by the Ohio State Athletic Department). Apparently they see him as a big loss. One or two commentators mention him going to Nebraska, but they already have this guy, who seems to have a pretty good resume and have done a good job for the Huskers. Barring something along the lines of this retirement or philisophical differences pushing him out, I don't see why they would be on the market for an O-Line coach. This was rumored previously, but did not transpire, d/t some tie in with the O-Coordinator?
Interestingly, Rivals also has coaching recruiting info's, and it would seem Coach War is a good recruiter as well, having brought in two four stars to the Fighting Irish class. In addition to this there is a "meet the staff" on rivals that sheds some interesting light on how he ended up on ND in the first place, having worked in various systems and whatnot. He also has some Big Ten experience having experience at both Spartying and having instilled in his young charges what it meant to be a Fighting Zook from 2005-2006. Coach War is a native of Strasburg, Ohio, so its plausible that he would want to come home. Lesmerises seems to think the official announcements will come today, however still no changes to the coaching staff roster on the OSU athletics site.
And he has his own line of sweet videos. Someone please make a Bollman satire "How to Coach Offense" video, stat.
It makes my heart sing a bit when I see CBS Sports, Bill Greene, and the Dispatch jumping on board "confirming" the hire. Serious man crush on the guy, can't wait to see what this does for O-Line recruiting in the days to come (and what it means for a better on field product after all these years of Walrusball).
I still can't get over seeing such things such as not being able to mix up the snap count because of false start issues - isn't that something that a HS Coach could correct? We won't get into the commentators during the game noting on more than one occasion how expected runs up the middle were to anyone in attendance. After how horrible that O-Line play was, I was worried seeing the chance of Coach Stud coming to Columbus was near nil, but this hire certainly makes up for it.
I don't know anything about Warriner. What's he like? Given your excitement, I'm eager to hear about him

Read somewhere that people think Ed is headed to Nebraska and not OSU, won't believe any of this until something is offically announced.

Nice. I'd really like Studrawa too.
