Diggs

I would say the odds are 80% we get Diggs at this point.  Life is a good as a buckeye fan right now.  I just hope it translates into a NATIONAL TITLE which is the only thing that really matters (in addition to beating Michigan of course).  We should have the tallent, coach, place, passion and will to do it.

What makes you say we are 80% on Stefon Diggs just curious? One thing is for sure & that is when you he said now has a lot of thinking to do & that there is NO CUURENT LEADER for his services at this time. Meyer & Co. with a great visit really closed the gap.

Gonna have to disagree, I would say based on everything I've read on various sites about diggs it is more of a 33-33-33 between OSU, Auburn, and Florida

Based on he what he said about about his visit, he's seriously considering OSU.  He's a top ten recruit.  Do you really think he's going to Maryland? Urban deffinetly woo'd his mother.  This isnt some bullshit Auburn or SEC school - we're talking about Ohio State; the most complete package in college football today.  Diggs will be a Buckeye.

Hey fail, if Diggs commits, I got a proposal. For giving this bold statement, and if you ever come to Pittsburgh, I will buy your dinner. Don't get me wrong, i want him to commit badly, but this is a bold prediction, and bold predictions, if they become correct, should be rewarded.

It's good to see that you are so confident on Diggs. As for me, not so much. I don't think there is a clear cut leader after this visit. If you wanted me to guess on a leader, prolly Florida but by a hair if that. Like Triv said, 33-33-33 sounds about right. I don't think Maryland has a chance landing Diggs. It's gonna come down to Florida and OSU IMHO.

I just have a feeling about this one and I dont have any insider information but for some reason I'm just feeling it - I see this kid lighting up the shoe returning kicks on Satrdays.  I could be wrong but my gut tells me he will be rocking the scarlet and grey this fall throwing up the block 0 after he burns Michigan for a TD late in the game.

Idk how this is even a competition. Florida has gone down the drain since Meyer left and i don't believe is coming back up soon. I'm pretty sure they run a pro style offense now which would mean he'd get less touches. Auburn is not gonna be a national contender now that Newton is gone. They run a spread but their O coordinator from their NC year is off coaching Ark St I think. Plus I do not forsee them passing LSU, Bama, or Ark anytime soon to even have a shot at the West division. I'll give Auburn and Florida one thing its warmer down there

Can't remember who said it, but Urban really impressed his mother that's for sure & we ALL KNOW that there is NO RECRUIT who makes their "own decision" when it involves selecting where to go to college. It usually involves their HS coach & parent(s). I will say this, if he wants to win a national title, he'll come to OSU. you would choose Florida because????? Because they have to basically rebuild their team, which is gonna take another 2-3 yrs before they're back where they want to be in the national scene. Personally, I like Diggs in an OSU uniform before It's all said & done. OSU will be right in the thick of it & I like our chances. Alex or Gene.....would love to have your insight on this. Thanks

I am a Buckeye graduate 2x's over and as much of a homer as anyone, but I just don't see Florida in as bad of shape as everyone else does.  They did beat us last year and are right there with us in the top five of recruiting (rivals).  I hate Florida, but besides our advantage with Urban I feel like the weakness of Florida in this is being exaggerated.

Not trying to hate, simply disagree about the weakness of Florida playing a factor with Diggs.  The best argument would seem to be spread hybrid (TOSU) vs. pro-style (UF).

sox33osu's picture
sox33osu on 30 Jan 2012 - 9:29am #

Pope - the reason people are claiming Florida is so down is because, since Urban left, they have gone 15-11 despite having an absurd amount of talent, they have had an unusual amount of turnover with their coaching staff, and none of their high-profile recruits are really translating into the monsters they were expected to. They beat us, true. But when you actually look at what our football program went through from May-December, it's a miracle we won any games in that time frame. I don't see UF being what we had become used to as long as they have Muschamp at the helm, and Urban's offense does fit Digg's skillset far more than UF's.

No insider information here, but I would be SHOCKED if Diggs signed with OSU. We had him on campus for less than 24 hours, he's not from around here and our coaching staff has only had a relationship with him for a couple months at MOST.

I agree with those saying the race for this kid is 33% evenly split among 3 schools. Maybe we get him maybe not. Just my gut. He had some really positive things to say after the visit so thats good.

You won't catch me spouting off about how sure I am that we will win a NC in the next 2-3 years. You just never want to be that cocky IMO. I'll say this: It's a great time to be a Buckeye! With or without Neal/Diggs - this is already one monster of a recruiting class! I cannot wait for the spring game and next season. The brand of football that we're all about to see with the level of talent we have is at least going to make us all smile.

Couldn't agree more Poison.  Winning a NC is tough to do, but the new coaching staff is going to (already?) change the face of the B1G.  I hope that the aggressive image Coach Meyer portrays to the public rubs off on all corners of the program and, quite honestly, the entire B1G.  It would be fun to watch January 1 Bowl Games and see the B1G be the aggressor for once.

Diggs would be nice, as would Neal.  R. Foster and J. Marshall in next year's class would be out of this world.

We already have Cam Burrows in the bag, and I'm about 97% confident Jalin Marshall will be announcing Ohio State tomorrow (Tuesday).  I also feel ~75% confident we land Malik Zaire.  If we can grab one of Eli Woodard and/or Rob Foster, now THAT would be an amazing class (and let me let you in on a little secret... I think we have a pretty decent chance of pulling it off too).

I shared the pics of Diggs with the Buckeye gear on, and some know-it-all in his building told him that was an NCAA violation.  I told him the recruits can wear that stuff in the locker room, but does anybody happen to know the exact rule so I can really put his mind at ease?

Set your avi

Every recruit is allowed to wear Buckeye gear on visits. Even Alex Dickman, who may or may not have an offer as a 2* posted a picture of him in a Buckeye jersey. Diggs also has pics of him in a Fla jersey, it's no big deal.

It is only a violation if the recruits name is put on the gear or it is otherwise personalized.

BassPlayer, the others are correct.  You cannot have personalized jerseys.  You are fine.  Here is the rule under Article 13:

13.6.7.9 Activities During Official Visit. An institution may not arrange miscellaneous, personalized re- cruiting aids (e.g., personalized jerseys, personalized audio/video scoreboard presentations) and may not permit a prospective student-athlete to engage in any game-day simulations (e.g., running onto the field with the team during pregame introductions) during an official visit. Personalized recruiting aids include any decorative items and special additions to any location the prospective student-athlete will visit (e.g., hotel room, locker room, coach’s office, conference room, arena) regardless of whether the items include the prospective student-athlete’s name or picture. Hey everyone! I'm new to 11W as a poster. I've been reading it for longer than that though. I must say that of all the various tOSU sites I visit daily, this one is the best for timely and interesting information, so thanks to the staff at 11W!

Anyways, I have followed Buckeye recruiting now for about 3 years. It's sad because I find recruiting season almost as exciting as the football itself occasionally. With this in mind, I must say Diggs' recruitment has been an interesting one. I wouldn't put our odds at 80% of landing him but my gut tells me we may be happy on 02/10/2012. I'm no insider but it doesn't take an insider to know this kid wouldn't come to OSU for less than 24 hours after an OV to his so-called "lock" school of choice if he wasn't legitimately considering us. I think his interest is very high and I wouldn't be surprised if he signed on. Whatever his choice may be I think we can all agree he is an amazing playmaker and whichever team he chooses will be landing a potential future All-American.

So hello to everyone and I'm glad to be part of the group now. Go Bucks!

USA Today article: Diggs' high school coach claims that Diggs is "a little confused" after his visit to tOSU and will take time to make his decision. I might be reading too much into this but I would say this is positive. Maybe before his visit he already "knew" where he wanted to go but his OV to Columbus was so good that he has to take time to rethink things. Difficult to get into the mind of a kid (trust me I'm only 22 myself) but I think Urban blew him away this past weekend

Anybody know how similar Neal and Diggs are in their abilities. From what I've heard/seen, they both would play the "Harvin" type role (until Marshall gets here haha).

Do you guys think that if one of Neal or Diggs were to commit, the other wouldn't simply because they are so similar?

I hope not because you can never have too much speed and playmakers.

I'm kinda curious myself to know if we have any home visits left? Alex would probably know. If so, I think Urban would certainly be paying the Diggs' household another visit (he has already been there once). And in response to Hayze above, they are both great athletes that would excel in the spread. I feel like Diggs is more of a true offensive weapon whereas Neal could potentially play both ways on the field. I doubt we land both but we would be lucky to get one of them. And I'd say whichever of them commits first would mean the other one is left out. JMO

I agree we will be lucky to get one, but you have to hold a spot for both.  I don't care who is coming in 2013, these types of athletes don't come along all the time.  If it's all he does as a freshman, imagine Neal as a gunner on special teams.  There is a reason that the SEC dominates kick coverages, they have all their best athletes getting down the field before the other team can get up field.

I hope we have room to take both if we get lucky and they are both interested...

I agree we should leave at least one spot open for Diggs/Neal. I wouldn't be opposed to both. At the worst it means we have two more scholarships to offer for 2013 class which could be the most talented class Ohio State has ever seen.

Also, what of the flash back Moreau? Will he be deciding on NSD or delaying?

@ThirdLegLouie @BuckeyeFan927 Thanks for the clear up on that. I didn't know there was another dead period before signing day. Hopefully that 20 hour-long OV was enough to entice Diggs. And I agree that we should take both guys if we have the chance but I don't think Urban will bring two players so similar in skillset to compete for the one spot.
