Didn't mean to make it feel like I was targetting you Hail. I also knew that you all were full, I was just saying that in general I would prefer people to pick ND instead of ttun. However, I do agree that we better get some of these other tackles, I was hoping for Bivin...
Quick Bits 3/24
I know pocic is a big target, and tunsil if we can get him, but who is the next guy in line they want to get at OL? I think we will be ok with 3 guys this year as long as they are all top level guys, then next year he needs to land some big talent on the OL.
I would say we have next to no chance at Tunsil unfortunately

Anyone have any insight on our chances with Derwin Gray, Montelus, Darius Lathum, or Dorian Johnson?
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
How does BK out-recruit anyone? Especially guys Urb wanted? Or was Urb not that high on these guys in the first place? Surprised to see anyone commit to play for ND, what with their recent history and all...
Pug your guess is as good as mine, ND usually gets one decent year in and wins 8-9 games then sucks for 3-4 years. I can only think that academics has a little to do with. Same reason kids go to Standford. But ND won't be good they never are, its crazy how many years everyone says ND is back and then they are horrible.

Genestar, do you have any idea if we have much of a shot at Vonn Bell? He is scheduled to visit on April 5th. Does this recruitment have any legs or is it just if Urban can do his magic? Any ideas?
Vonn Bell, with Meyer anything is possible, but it will be very tough to get him out of the SEC as he is from Georgia. Get anyone on campus and I say we have as good as a shot with him than anyone else.
Bell seems to like Ohio State a lot and loves Meyer. We have a good chance at landing this stud when he comes up to visit. He would fill an immediate need and would probably start early.
Don't forget about Su'a Cravens, he has chosen Ohio State as one of his 5 official visits and a stud player as well. Getting both would be awesome.
I feel Jayme Thompson won't commit to OSU as a result of Bell and Cravens wanting to visit. They bring more to the table than Jayme can.
Watching Bell's film had me saying WOW. He was amazing to the point that I was trying to see if the plays of him ball-hawking were replays of the same plays but they weren't. He had so many big plays in the same game it was just something. And Cravens is definitely a stud as well. Can't imagine if we were lucky enough to land just one but both would be special. Thanks for the insight.
No problem, anytime my fellow Buckeye =D
Gene, any idea when su'a is planning on making his official? Maybe for the spring game, or FNL?
I'd love to have either Cravens or Bell... Both would be insane!!!
Well 3 OVs are pretty much made up for Cravens and he's visiting OSU, Michigan and Nebraska sometime in the fall. The other two I'm gonna assume are USC & Oklahoma.
Pretty much everyone is saying he's a USC lock, being from Cali and all, but Meyer can persuade anyone if you get them on campus.
As for that visit... nothing is really planned as for dates that I know of. I believe he is attending the Nebraska Spring Game, which is April 14th, that of course being an unofficial visit. I think, to put it bluntly, Nebraska might have the better chance of getting him out of Cali and I think he doesn't want to string the decision out throughout his entire senior year.

Ohio State is clearly his leader, he visited this past weekend. Figured everyone knew that lol. Oklahoma was the other mention for his "top 2" but he will be a Buckeye soon.

I've been pressing some Rivals guys in their online chat and wanted to share with you all..
Mike said that Clemson leading for Green, so I brought up the recent Eleven Warriors article and told Mike that Derrick stated OSU had a "pretty big lead on anyone else." His response: "Mike Farrell: Doug -- not sure who got that "pretty big lead" out of Green but he never names a leader when I talk to him and he loved his Clemson visit quite a bit. OSU is still there, but pretty big lead has never come out of his mouth nor has any leader and I've been talking to him since he was a freshman."
Q - Can Ohio State get JT Barrett out of Texas? "Brian Perroni: Doug- All the latest I'm hearing on Barrett is that Ohio St is at the top of his leaderboard. The race isn't over but the Buckeyes are in good shape"
Asked about Anzalone and Jaylon Smith. "Josh Helmholdt: Doug... You'd have to ask Farrell on Anzalone - PA is his region, though I did hear he was out at USC visiting today. On Jaylon Smith, as I said earlier, I have not spoken with him out of his ND visit so I don't know how that has affected things. I felt they were a strong leader going into the OSU visit, but have heard the OSU visit went very well for the Buckeye's chances"
Asked about Anzalone "Mike Farrell: Doug -- I have to check with Anzalone after all his visits and see, he's at USC right now so a lot could have changed after this tour of his. But Ohio State was clear leader before his visits."
Mike Farrell: JD -- He [Poggi] likes Bama a lot I think with Tennessee, Michigan and OSU in lead group as well
Jaylon and Anzalone are the only two linebackers I care about in this class... Love is gonna be a solid commit but he just doesnt make the needle spike like the other two. With Jaylon being far and away the best LB in this class.... His athleticism is insaine... Reminds me a lot of Larry Grant but with much better instincts at this point in his career, which bodes well for us... On the subject of Lb's Could you imagine a linebacking core with Dorian Bell Curtis Grant and Shazier after Sabino left... woulda been absolutly disgusting.

I'm gonna believe Alex on the Derrick Green situation. Also since I'm not a subscriber does that article give a date for Foster's visit? That's a big one
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
It's not that I don't believe Alex. Alex has been more than credible, plus it's a direct quote from Derrick so that's not really an issue. Just relaying what I was told...
@NY , not sure Reuben Foster nor I agree with you on the whole "far an away the best LB" thing. but id love to pick him up
This weekend actually, Robert Foster is visiting OSU along with LaQuon Treadwell.
Vonn Bell will be in Columbus today.
@NYBuckeye- For me, it would be very hard to imagine a LB core with Dorian Bell, Grant, and Shazier simply because Bell transferred last year! :)
Also
@DMC- Thanks a lot for sharing all of that. I usually think Rivals Mike is pretty solid but I'm over at Bucknuts too and Bucknuts has had several $ articles in which they've talked to Green and supported what Alex has said in that OSU is the definite leader for him. However, he definitely is good at playing the recruiting game as three days ago, he told Bucknuts "Ohio State is still on top. It’s still a big lead.” and 2 days ago he told 247's scUM ppl, " No schools really stand out at all for me at this point."
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Mike Farrell is unreliable in my book. He was saying that FSU was the clearcut leader for EJ Levenberry when Levenberry himself said Michigan was in front of FSU. After a day or so of stating he EJL was all FSU, he reluctantly tweeted saying something like EJL says Michigan is the leader, BUT FSU is still in contention. I've heard of many other examples of what sounds like Farrell wanting to pick the kids' favorites for them and not accurately reporting them when he knows better. I'm sure he reports some things accurately, but I would wait until a second source verifies before I'd get hung up on it. Always a possibility he just hates Michigan, too.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
I follow Farrell on twitter, and he's basically a guesser. If I was placing bets on commitments instead of tracking leaders, I might go with what he says, but he likes to guess without doing research and then brag if he ends up being right.
I know it's early, but if anyone hears anything on the Vonn Bell visit it would be much appreciated.
Also: wasn't there a dispute over whether Foster or Treadwell was our top receiver target? I guess that will be cleared up this weekend. Those 2 visits are HUGE as we aren't very well stocked at the reliever position.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Gotta believe it's Foster. Kid's damn near a consensus top ten (#9 on 24/7, #3 on Scout, #26 on Rivals), not to mention I think that Treadwell was at least at one point a Michigan lean. In my opinion Foster's the bigger get--seems exactly like Stefon Diggs, except Meyer has a whole year to work on him.
Robert Foster and Jalin Marshall would be an absolutely devilish combo at wideout, and throw in Heuerman at tight end...that's just downright mean.
My only problem with Farrell is that he seems a bit vindictive when he gets one right. No doubt he gets a lot of stupid tweets his way and angry fan bases, but there's no need to rub it in anyone's face when he's right.

Rivals$--New leader for Brunson
Only found a bit of film on Brunson. But the kid looks like he's a beast. Just mauled people left and right. Granted, it was a 90 second highlight, but still. Ran people down and wrapped well. Vicious tackler. Loved it.
Rivals showed Brunson had over 170 tackles in his Junior season, but it's strange that he doesn't have any offers. Scout has him ranked as the #14 OLB.
Brunsons highlight pretty nasty for the 90 seconds... sad were prob only taking 2-3 backers and the top 3 are Anzalone, smith, and love. He's kinda short but then again Rolle played at 5'11 and did just fine

Mike Farrell seems like a punk to me, but I like to hear his info even tho it isn't always reliable...
Anyone got any info on Foster or Kimbrough.
I heard that Foster had a bad weekend but couldn't find a reliable souce.
Also there are twitter pics of Kimbrough in an OSU uni so I assume he visited.
Foster said this on twitter around 4 pm today:
"Swear me n my bra @J_whiz_3 is tired from all these old heads talkiN to us from OSU".
And had this twitter pic with Jordan Whitehead:
http://twitter.com/J_whiz_3/status/188710509414060033/photo/1
I'm not sure what "old heads" are....but thats definitely not the news I wanted to hear when I heard Foster was visiting. Hopefully it comes out that he had a good visit overall
"Love my State, hate the football"
Yeah UpNorth, it didn't seem to be a statement from a guy really interested, did it? Like you, I hope it doesn't mean a thing other than they had already been amazed!
I must be in the minority here but Robert Foster's tweet shows that this kid is immature and ungrateful. A top learning institution is offering you a full scholarship and a chance to play football at the highest non-professional level and you're going to make statements like that? How many football players would literally do anything to be in that kid's position? Thousands. Tens of thousands. How about how many kids would love a full ride to a well respected learning institution? hundreds of thousands, millions.
If you look at the tweets from the guy that went with him (the kid standing next to him in that picture) he made additional remarks basically saying that Robert Foster was mocking the guys giving him a tour and saying stuff like "oooh wow, a statue!"
This kid's god-given talent is undeniable. He's arguably the best wide receiver prospect in this class and he may easily become an NFL player someday. But I'd take a dozen Dane Sanzenbachers over a kid like this who doesn't appreciate the opportunities he has.
Hopefully I'm just reading way too much into a couple tweets. Hopefully this kid was humbled at the opportunity he has and at what it means to be offered a full ride to study at and play football for The Ohio State University. If not, however, then happy trails--we don't need that kind of attitude here.
I'd love to know what "old talking heads" means as well. If he comes across the wrong way I'm sure Urban will tell him where to stick it just like he did with Davonte Neal.
He also said a few days ago "so mad I gotta get up at 6:20 to go to Pitt <<<" so his tweets are all negative towards his supposed favorites it seems
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Sounds like a cry baby to me.....we don't need those at tOSU.....imo of course
I wouldn't worry too much about his comments either way. He was probably just showing off for his buddy that was with him. Some guys are not going to be as excited about every part of a University as others will be. A lot of the top talent want to come here and play football long enough to make it to the NFL and the history and school portion of it will not interest them as much as what a coach can do to make him better and get him to the next level. Not saying that is how it should be but it seems that is the thinking for a lot of these kids. Maybe he is getting tired of the recruiting process and will make a decision sooner than most expect. If he hates this process he should just make a decision and not have to go through it anymore.
He's immature; regardless you don't make stupid comments like that public. He seems like a punk. We don't need attitudes around here anymore that poison the atmosphere. I don't care if he's the greatest prospect in the history of football. I don't want another TP looming over Columbus.
The only other info I've seen on Foster's visit is that his attitude didn't do himself any favors.
Why are Foster's measureables so weak if he's such an explosive talent? 4.82 is bad for a wr. So is a 29 inch vertical. What's the competition level of those teams on the highlight reel against him? Is there any film of him vs. 4 star cb recruits? And you're right his tweets make him sound like a douche. Take that diva crap to Pitt.
Any word on Treadwell?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
I'm hoping he becomes our new top target along with North. Although he is a UM lean I
Believe, this could be another one of the many recruiting battles between Urban and Hoke
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Woah? An immature high school junior? Don't read into his tweets, the old heads comment was probably an academic meeting or something. You guys need to seriously stop jumping to conclusions. If he has an attitude problem, Pantoni and Meyer will stop their full court press on him. If we judged athletes by their tweets, none of them would have scholarships.

Amen to that, RecruitBuck. I would up-vote you if I could. Personally, I'm tired of all of these old heads over-analyzing tweets from OSU recruits.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Sounds like Cravens is recruiting via twitter for USC.
@ThirdLegLouie I normally respect a lot of your posts but I cannot understand how an OSU fan who just went through the drama of last season cannot understand why it's important not to sacrifice maturity, leadership, and humility for uber-talented people who act like 10 year olds at a school field trip to a museum.
I've been waiting all day for Alex to chime in here but if you look at his tweets from yesterday Alex said that he heard that the staff had choice things to say about Foster's attitude during his visit.
Call me an old head all you want, but you must have the short-term memory of a goldfish if you don't understand why Foster's attitude and actions are not wanted here.
He's a junior in high school. Either 16 or 17. Chill guys. Sorry but I'll trust Meyer/Pantoni over overreactive tweet analysis.
@BUCKEYEINNYC - My "old head" comment was intended to be humorous. However, with all humor, there is a grain of truth to it because it is laughable, in my opinion, that people are taking 1 tweet where Foster mentions an unspecified group of people as "old heads" and he's getting ridiculed for being "ungrateful" and "not caring about his education" and acting like a "10 year olds at a school field trip to a museum." Should kids think before they tweet? Absolutely. Should a kid be ripped a part for one, immature tweet? Absolutely not.
You took 1 tweet from Foster and determined that individuals like me, who don't want to judge 17 year old kids based on one comment, "must have the short-term memory of a goldfish if [we] don't understand why Foster's attitude and actions are not wanted here."
As RecruitBuck astutely noted in the post I was responding to: "If he has an attitude problem, Pantoni and Meyer will stop their full court press on him. If we judged athletes by their tweets, none of them would have scholarships." And while there are some kids that are great with twitter, they are the 1%'ers so to speak, a large majorityl, if judged by what they tweet, would not be given scholarships.
I remember the drama from last season very well. I don't blame the kids for that-- the terrible position our football program was put in was 100% on JT's shoulders. As soon as he knew what was going on, the kids should have been punished/suspended. As evidenced by numerous TP stories, there was a culture of entitlement under JT and we all know where that led. But I do not blame the young men; they're young and youth brings mistakes- I blame the man who should have known better. End of story.
And as for Alex's tweets, I just scrolled through them and didn't see the negative Foster comments you were referencing. Alex said he "did see rumors flying about the staff feelings [about Foster] but not my place to comment on those". I may be a goldfish, but I don't think it's your place to comment on rumors that those who are hearing them first hand don't even want to comment on.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
@ThirdLegLouie, the fact that you put absolutely no blame on guys like Pryor who put their selfish interests ahead of those of their teammates and their school says all I need to hear from your opinion on the subject. Tressel definitely made mistakes, but most of them were coddling and postively reinforcing the immaturity and selfishness of supposed leaders like Pryor and Posey. Your approach to forgive anything a teenager does simply because he's a teenager may be in line with SEC country, but not The Ohio State University.
And as i said in my first post, I'm still waiting on Alex to shed some light on what he meant by his tweet. As it is written, it indicates that the staff was not happy with his attitude. I'll stand corrected if that's not what Alex meant to indicate by his tweet.
How many kids in school think "ugh this teacher is droning on and on. how boring"?
Or how many adults in a seminar think "this is so boring and useless. why do we have to be here"?
My guess on both: a lot. Doesn't mean they're bad apples.
BUCKEYEINNYC- I know it's Easter, but there's no need to post from the pulpit with your judgements of what is/is not in line with The Ohio State University.
The JT situation has been discussed ad nauseum amongst Buckeye Nation and this is not the forum for it. However, there is one point that I will address. IMO, it is clear that you are dealing with some denial when it comes with JT. He was given a five-year show-cause penalty by the NCAA for a reason. Your statement that "most of [JT's mistakes] were coddling and postively reinforcing the immaturity and selfishness of supposed leaders like Pryor and Posey" doesn't even come close to hitting the nail on the head with where JT dropped the ball.
I can really sympathize with Foster at this point in time, though. Really tired of these old heads talking at me about tOSU.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Agreed let's not attack 17 year olds character based on a tweet a lot of us don't completely understand. I'm sure if Urban has concerns they will be adressed.
There's a difference between being a diva and not liking some facet of your visit...lol. Don't judge right away.
I do not have access to 247 sports insider info, but this is what apparently is being reported over there. If someone could confirm on this board that would be great. This was posted by RedZoneStand (@athletesinspace) regarding Foster's visit, which he apparently learned from insiders at 247sports:
"Apparently Urban and his staff aren't really after Rob Foster anymore due to off the field issues, academic problems, and attitude probs"
He adds that he heard that because of Foster's attitude and academics he has fallen behind Treadwell and Quick as far as recruiting is concerned for the Buckeyes. It kind of makes sense since out of nowhere we're now all of a sudden going hard after Quick, especially since Treadwell is a Michigan lean.
LOL @ ThirdLegLouie for saying that an Ohio State football forum is not a place to talk about Ohio State football. Your logic is astounding.
B.S. aside, assuming these rumors are legit (and, again, I'll wait until Alex or others with inside info here can confirm) this is not at all surprising and in my opinion a really good sign. Urban Meyer is going about it the right way.
Im only a few years removed from 17 so I'm pretty sure I remember what it was like. Mainly, I remember everything being "stupid", "boring", and "lame". That doesn't mean I was a punk, or a rebel, or a bad kid. Personally, I think I'm pretty successful. Did anyone think that maybe he was just a little bored, or (gasp) didn't like his visit? No one is obligated to like Ohio State. The recruits that do are given an opportunity to succeed, but instead of treating these student athletes as monkeys that we bring in to dance for us, maybe we should look at them as students who are trying to get an education under their own preferences, as well as their athletic environment.
BUCKEYEINNYC - We would have fewer issues if your reading comprehension was at a serviceable level for social interaction. Here is my exact sentence: "The JT situation has been discussed ad nauseum amongst Buckeye Nation and this is not the forum for it." Clearly, the "it" refers to the "JT situation" not "Ohio state football" in general. A thread for 2013 Offers/Committs is not the forum to debate details about the JT situation.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Louie, LOL. Dude, it's Easter. Go for a nice little egghunt and be less butthurt.
Speaking of reading, go read what people are reporting about Foster and his attitude. Still waiting on confirmation from someone with real info--probably tomorrow.
BUCKEYEINNYC- Someone clearly illustrates that you failed to read something properly and your conclusion is they're butthurt? Your thought process is remarkable--
I'll leave it with RecruitBuck's comment that I agreed with originally- " If [Foster] has an attitude problem, Pantoni and Meyer will stop their full court press on him." Pretty simple.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
There's a definite point to be made in their sudden warming up of the interest on Quick after ignoring him for so long. Foster must be on the outs.
Robert Foster, from what I am hearing, is currently no longer being pursued by Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. Urban did not like his attitude and Foster came off that academics are not important to him. Full court press on Treadwell and Quick is expected. Just another Diamond and Neal situation, OSU should cut off all ties on Foster. Urban Meyer is doing the right thing here, we are on probation and don't need any headcases on this team.
Still waiting on a more concrete source to confirm everything, but it's sounding more true by the minute folks.
^^^^^^^ Thanks Gene. Glad to hear we've moved on. Come on Treadwell and/or Quick.
What do you do Gene that you have so much insider info? Or are you just a junkie fan with subscriptions to everything?
Again, I don't have insider info. Everything I report is from other sites or from word of mouth.
But anyways, conflicting reports are saying that Urban and staff still want Foster, he just isn't as high on their list as Treadwell and Quick.
Ah was just curious as I've only been on this site since Nov if you were maybe an athletic dept Deep Throat giving the scoop and everyone knew but me. Cool
Foster blows away any receiver we have on the roster now, and any other receiver they are recruiting. He would be the best offensive/special teams weapon since Theodore Ginn, Jr..
I've seen him in play in person and he is a freak.
I hope those are just rumors about "attitude/academics". Take everything with a grain of salt.
If I were tOSU & U.F.M. - I would still recruit the kid hard, but keep a close eye on him and let me know you're keeping a close eye on him.
must-get prospect
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
^^^ those not familiar with the historical reference may be majorly confused/offended.
word, Buck - I.8.
I agree that if he is another Neal - then it's not worth the headaches, esp. w/ the probation/sanctions. No matter how good somebody is - can't let him take a team down.
But, I say wait & see first, nothing concrete - seems to just be rumors, so far. I trust Meyer & co. with whoever they pursue or don't purse. Just hope it's concrete with Foster- if true, b/c I think Foster is actually better than Pryor coming out of high school, (which is saying a lot). Pryor was maybe the best athlete in PA high school sports history, top 5...but, Foster is pretty darn impressive and he's not even a senior yet. And, Foster is making these plays against better competition. Treadwell and Gibson are OSU-worthy, just not comprabable to Foster.
Oh well...it's Urban F. Meyer - I'm not worried. The guy rarely makes mistakes.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
The tone at 247 is that of Meyer kind of "backing off" if you will; pursuing other options at this time. That's what I've gathered. I have no inside info, just reading over at 247 and what people who appear to be in or somewhat in the know about that situation.
I will say that Foster is a heckuva talent. But no one recruit is bigger than a university. I'd rather never had TP and gone on without him than to have gone through another hell-storm like last year. I'm not saying Foster is that kind of kid. I just think it's extra-imperative to be cautious this time around and I'm quite sure Meyer understands this.
Looks like I was right about what Louie kept quoting me. Meyer and Pantoni are looking for a certain breed of person
On the other hand, Quick reminds me of Teddy more than any player I've seen in awhile. Like a different type of human when it comes to speed.
Also, remember these are kids still 1.25 years from graduating. They are still growing up. Foster is not deciding until the AA games, so he has plenty of time to grow up. The WR class this year is loaded, so I'm not too concerned. We still have Jalin and Shelton.
Then why are Foster's combine times so damn slow? Ginn's weren't. Pryor's weren't. Did Foster backpedal the 4.82 40? Even if it was a crappy start or something why is his vertical just 29 inches? Those are red flag #s for a much ballyhooed super athlete. Neal and Diggs both ran under 4.47. They both jumped over 31.5 Neal jumped over 35. I'm just concerned about a guy who looks so great on tape but has piss poor pedestrian testing numbers for a WR. Perkins ran a 4.43 w a 36 vert. Those guys back up their serious tape with serious athleticism. Why are Foster's #s so bad? Was he sick that day? Was it outdoors in the rain? Was he gimped up?
My hope is with Laquon visiting tomorrow, Urban really puts the press on him and we get into the mix with him.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
@ "StatutoryGlory"
Foster runs a 4.49 Forty. 34 1/2 vert. jump.
Come on man...you need to quit relying on ESPiN as your lone combine source.
Trust me - he's not 4.82....he's in the 4.4's .
Maybe it's a typo, maybe he was sick or something. But, we know one thing: ESPN is average when it comes to being a reliable source for college recruiting coverage...more talk than walk. They make mistakes regularly, too.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Gibson and Treadwell are visiting today. I would guess that Meyer will still press for Fulwood to take a visit as well.
While we're talking about speed, I thought I'd post this article on WR Devon Allen.
http://www.maxpreps.com/news/WiwIQCOQqESNUKBVQV-nTw/devon-allen-hurdles-over,-sprints-past-arcadia-invitational-field.htm
I agree with you on rumors and news. They aren't the quickest on news. But with measureables they seem to be the only service that only lists times from a combine as opposed to letting kids say how fast they run themselves or how fast their coach "handtimed" them. If rivals were to be believed almost every WR around runs in the 4.4-4.5s. That simply cannot be possible and the nfl combine doesn't support those ratios. If foster can really jump 36 plus why the hell was he a half foot off at a combine? 7 inches is a collossal difference not explained by a bad start since jumps aren't initiated like that. They get themselves ready and go at their leisure. They also usually do two back to back.
Speaking of immaturity, I would like to consider Shelton Gibson's.
Gibson is either secretly taking a weekend courses at tOSU or is a bit immature. How many visits does this make? I count at least a half dozen. And that doesn't include the one where he got lost driving to Columbus.
BUT...there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with Gibson's immaturity. He is young. Everything is new and exciting. But his immaturity comes with a positive attitude. He is enjoying the recruiting process and is excited about tOSU. So, he can't stop himself from constantly driving down to Columbus for another visit. It is impulsive. It is devil-may-care (see getting lost one weekend and coming back the next). It is young love. It is being a teenager.
There is too much emphasis on the maturity of 17 yr. olds. College is the time to become an adult. It is the time to mature.
Everytime Gibson comes to visit now, it makes me laugh and smile. Anyone want to bet that this is not his last visit to tOSU?
I have no grand conclusion here. No great insight on life and human character. No formula for projecting college prospects. I only want to observe that immaturity from a 17 yr. old can be a proper and happy thing.
Bucks43201, yeah Foster is not better than any WR we have coming in!!!! He is not better than Jalin Marshall who is considered an athlete but we all know he will be a WR. Marshall is an explosive talent and if anything is at par with Foster. I just feel he is better based on what I have seen and read.
Wouldn't mind a trio of Marshall, Treadwell and Quick!
I think it'll end up being Marshall, Gibson, Quick. But if Treadwell's visit right now goes well...
Gibson would be nice as well. I think Urban would happily take all four. then he would feel confident in his offensive speed!
Currently I like the trio of Brown, Spencer (he was actually looking like he was about to bust out before he got injured) and D. Smith. I still think that catch by Spencer on the sideline was awesome early last year.
I think they'll only take three. Marshall is committed and Gibson is a lock, which means one of Quick/Treadwell/North/Fulwood/Foster.
Well based purely on talent, Foster would be the choice but with all the stories going around, it may have to be between Quick and Treadwell. I like Quick but seems like Treadwell, depending on his visit today, is more interested in coming to OSU. For my cents, I would prefer a talented kid who really wants to be here over a kid who might be a bit more talented but doesn't have the drive to be a buckeye.
It doesn't help the team when a player has a me first attitude and not overflowing the passion bucket with pride for buckeye football. Sanzanbacher knew how much it meant to be a buckeye. Duron Carter didn't!
Agreed. The guys in love w being where they are usually do better than guys grinding out 3 yrs til the draft.

Decision has nothing to do with Baugh committing, reason was because of his brother Jeff wanted to be with him when he committed.
@TheBaDowl
According to Mike Farrell, Clemson are front runners for Green. Conflicting reports say Ohio State leads for Green, so take it FWIW. Green denies constantly that OSU are his leaders, I say he is just playing the recruiting game perfectly. Clemson is also reportedly front runners for WR MarQuez North and CB MacKenzie Alexander.

[TE Josh McNeil will not attend the spring game because of the Baugh commitment and OSU wants Heuerman.]
What does THAT mean? Did OSU pull his offer?
It means that we have limited scholarships and can't take 3 TEs and Heuerman fits Meyer's offense better than McNeil. Marcus fits better than McNeil as well. Because of that commitment, McNeil pretty much won't be pursued by OSU anymore. No sense in attending a spring game right?
OSU didn't pull the offer, I think it's still there in case Heuerman goes elsewhere, but the question is will they go back to pursuing McNeil if that happens? Heuerman is supposed to announce his decision on 4/27.
I guess I get a little nervous when we put all our eggs in one basket.
They would not pull his offer. Heuerman would be higher on the list, but it's up to one of them to commit first. Just because a player announces a commitment one day doesn't mean he committed that day.
What's the source for that being McNeil's reason for missing the Spring game? Did this come from his twitter, or an interview, or is it a presumption?
An admin over at BuckeyePlanet said McNeil is not attending, and I figured it was common sense as to why he isn't going, plus his timeline on for the Spring Game date was removed on 247.
He is visiting Miami (FL) on Monday and moved his decision date up, so hmmm gotta think there.
Actually, the reason he stated on twitter was that he thought him and jamal marcus were driving up for the game. Marcus just recently told him he was flying, and he can't get a ticket now. That was a couple days before the baugh commitment.

If Meyer lands Bosa and Anzolone with already having studs like Price Burrows, Woodard, Thompson and the stud under classman we currently have or are getting in June our defense will be a force to be reckoned with in years to come. I'm having trouble imagining our D-line after this next season with Hank (if he doesn't go out for the draft) Miller,Pittman, Moore, Hale, Bennett, Farris, Hayes, Spence, Washington, Shutt, Price, Bosa. And our LBs Shazier, Grant, Crowell, Perry, Roberts, Marcus, Williams, Perkins, Anzolone. I can't even imagine the postion battles that will be going on.
@otrain - I agree. Should be exciting to hear about the position battles in the coming years. Makes everyone more competitive and it will show in games.

Vonn Bell mentioning that Urban Meyer made his OSU visit stand out on his recent cross country trip is awesome. I know Alex raves about Cravens, as he should, but Bell is right there and either one of those two would be a great get.
Great stuff FortMeyer! I love how he feels about his decision to commit. As if this was the most logical choice that he's ever made--and he never even visited! I also love the line about holding fundraisers to buy long-johns and thermals.
I'm sure Mike Thomas (who hails from California) will let this kid know that it's not THAT bad.
Wow, a lot of talk about Urban Meyer vs Hoke in recruiting, but from the looks of things lately I say who cares about those, what about the battles that Urban and Saban are going to have. Seems like the last class Tress was involved in, had quite a few battles with Bama with Braxton and DePriest. Now Urban and Saban are competing for targets and those battles are, in my opinion, what will be most important to the overall sucess of the program long term.
Would Cravens, Bell, Bosa, Pocic, Barrett, Green and so on even have been in the conversation if Tress were still here? Sure a couple may have but the depth of athlete that we are now directly in line for nationwide is at another level. Without bringing the 2012 commits into it, or Baugh, Woodard and Elliott for 2013 I feel we are in an undeniable recruiting pilgrimage that will be fun to watch for years. Saban will be stomping and it will be great.
@Fortmeyer
I compare Urban's recruiting to the likes of Cooper; more national. Except, Urban being the better coach. Tressel was a good recruiter himself but nothing like Urbs/Coop. I doubt Cravens/Bosa/Barrett would show interest. Pocic is pretty damn obvious when you have the walrus recruiting. I would guess under Tress that Green and Woodard would have been his most likely gets. We're seeing interest from national elites like never before.
It is similar to Cooper. When you watch the Rose Bowl with Joe Germaine throwing to David Boston for the win and you look at all the stars that were on those teams it is amazing. After getting the roster to that level Urban and OSU will be a force.

I know everyone has said Huerman has been a Buckeye lock, but for him to be taking his SECOND 3 day visit to Notre Dame this close to his decision date, it kind of puts that thought he may not be the lock we think. I know he changed his date so his brother could be present, but still, if you were making an announcement wouldnt you want your family to be their regardless of the schoo?. I can tell you I would.
Her could very well be leaning ND right now, but he'll be on campus for two days this weekend, and gets to ahve us fresh in his mind before his decision. A lot can happen before it's all said and done

Su'a Cravens nearing a decision. Who are his leaders? I keep hearing he wants to take an official to OSU, Michigan, and some other Big Ten school, and that USC is recruiting him hardest, but haven't heard anything about a leader or our odds of getting him.
Cravens is all USC imo.
USC unless Meyer gets him in and sheds the light on him like he did with Bosa. Tell Cravens announcing on his moms birthday is unoriginal Gibson already played that card. And would you want to announce on your moms birthday O by the way I'm leaving the state for college most likely not

I don't feel good/comfortable about landing Jaylon Smith, and isn't McCray (Rivals 8th LB, 44 Nation) ranked higher than Anzalone (Rivals 16th LB, NR Nation) ?!?!
So I'm not sure what your point is...?!?
Agreed.
@SCARLET look at Anzalone's offer sheet compared to McCray's, rankings aren't all that matters
Agreed. But how big of a leap/fall are we expecting Anzalone/McCray to make?
Anzalone's offers include: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pitt, South Carolina, Stanford, USC, and West Virginia. The kid is a stud.
What do mean leap/fall..? Those rankings really don't mean anything when theyre that close. There's a relative margin for error
All of these high school rankings dont matter - its the rankings that will come out in 10 years called "Ranking the top 10 recruiting classes of the past decade" that really matter. Coaches rank thier players according to what type of person they are, how they fit in the system and if they can be developed or not. It is imposible for rivals, espn, scout etc. to take these things into consideration. I see McCray playing DE at some point but he is rated as a linebacker.
- Respect the Rivalry -

This may be on another thread but, we have 11 commits now with Anzolone comitting. What are the positions that we need to land now. Another LB is a need, a few more O-line, and a few more WR, other then that what else does Urban need to get in this class?
It is all a WAG but here is mine...
QB: Trubisky
WR: Gibson & Quick/Allen/North
TE: Huerman
OL: 1 more, Pocic/Johnson
DL: Bosa & Hurst
LB: 1 more, Brunson/Smith/Kimbrough
DB: Bell
Barrett to enroll early? I hear violins.
