Mike Heuerman enjoyed his 4 day visit to Ohio State and speaks highly of Coach Hinton. Says Ohio State is a big offer and they are/will remain one of his top schools. Will be visiting LSU & Notre Dame in March.
Lewis Neal offered by Ohio State. DE from North Carolina. Other offers include South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee
DE Lewis Neal has been offered by Ohio State this morning.
Somebody close to WR Shelton Gibson school said that he's REALLY excited about OSU, loves the coaches and the new offense, and the fact Kyle Dodson is there is huge. Just a matter of time before he commits.
WR LaQuon Treadwell announced on his Twitter that he will be visiting Ohio State this weekend. I see him committing to Michigan.
BN $ DB Tim Harris says the OSU offer came out of nowhere from Coach Smith and was followed a week later by Michigan and wants to visit both...recaps his VT visit last week...in-state schools lead.
Scout $ LB Tim Kimbrough had great visits to Ohio State & Wisconsin. Says the Ohio State coaching staff wants him to attend a few Spring practices. Will visit Louisville and/or Kentucky this weekend.
Scout $ DL Elijah Daniel recent offers from Syracuse, Ole Miss & Kentucky. Will visit Kentucky this weekend & Ohio State in the Spring.
BN $ OL Hunter Bivin has visits set up to Auburn, ND and LSU...talks about his relationship with Coach Hinton and Coach Warinner.

OL Marcell Lazard has been offered by Ohio State and Florida today.
Previously focused on Virginia, West Virginia and UConn but now wants to take a look at Gainesville and Columbus.
WR Uriah LeMay was recently interviewed and he had this to say, OSU has been looking at him. Said that he is looking to take a visit sometime in the spring. He said he can make a good fit in the OSU offense.
Scout $ LB Jaylon Smith ran two 4.4 40s at the Midwest Combine, and says he got a bad start on both of his runs. Recruitment is wide open, but will be visiting Notre Dame on March 3rd and Ohio State for some spring practices. Good academics is high on his list and says distance is not a factor, despite his mom wanting him to stay close to home.
Not worth its own thread, but anyone out there who is not following Cam Burrows on Twitter needs to get on it.

So much positive energy and Buckeye love. This guy bleeds the scarlet and gray and is easily my favorite recruit.
RB Dontre Wilson has been offered by Ohio State.
Anyone know if Ohio State has any interest in LB Shane Jones from Cincinnati Moeller? Cincinnati Enquirer reports that he has offers from Michigan, Mich. St., and Nebraska among others. It seems the Buckeyes haven't shown a lot of interest in the recent Moeller guys, but Greg Jones certainly performed well, and i think Monty Madaris will do well too. I have no connection to Moeller, just a GCL fan. I know we can't offer everyone, but it seems like the Bucks lose a lot of GCL guys who turn out to be studs, e.g, Jones, Kyle Rudolph, Luke Kuechly, etc.
@TBuck:
Same reason they don't have much interest in McCray from Trotwood-Madison: we killed it in recruiting last year as far as linebackers were concerned. This year, OSU is going for top OOS guys (Kimbrough, Smith, Anzalone etc)
BN $ Recently offered OL Marcell Lazard plans to visit for spring practice
Scout $ DL Tashawn Bower has recent offers from Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame & UCLA. Recently visited South Carolina & Ohio State and plans on visiting Rutgers, Michigan, Michigan State & Notre Dame. Says he has family in Columbus and really liked his visit.
@TBuck
Jones expressed interest in Ohio State, I know that much. He does have quite of few offers and we just brought a load of LB's from 2012. We got some offers out and getting Jaylon Smith is most likely the priority of LB's to get into OSU. Alex Anzalone is one of those LB's OSU feels good about. Courtney Love is a possibly Buckeye as well. Like you said we can't offer everybody, especially with limited scholarships. Meyer is trying to recruit big names to make this class a top 5 class. If the big stars commit elsewhere, it's possible Ohio State could be late players with Jones. Speaking of which, Notre Dame is expected to add their names to the list of offers for Jones. There is still a whole year left of recruiting, anything can happen.
A days worth of mail for OL Hunter Bivin
@ RecruitBuck
I doubt we are after the top OOS linebackers. Probably just the top 2 linebackers who may happen to be from OOS.
Thanks Gene. Good info, as always.

247 $ Mizell on verge of more offers
QB Mitch Trubisky received an offer from Cincinnati
Rumors were floating around yesterday that that Cardinal Mooney (Ohio) linebacker Courtney Love had committed to Ohio State yesterday, but he told Scout "not yet." That's one to watch though, as the 6'1, 222-lb junior indicates that he may be getting closer to a decision.
Scout $ Zaire talks Irish offer
LB Tim Kimbrough has been offered by Arkansas today. Tim Kimbrough, Warren Central, has been a huge month for the 6-1, 220-pound inside linebacker, who picked up offers from Wisconsin, Florida and Penn State in the past few days. He has offers from six Big Ten programs, including Indiana and Purdue, and 14 overall. "It's been pretty crazy," Kimbrough said. "I'm really just open with it all right now. I'll take all my visits before I make any decision." Kimbrough took a visit to Wisconsin last week and plans to visit both Kentucky and Louisville this weekend. He'd also like to make it to Florida in the spring.

Offers for Ty Isaac continue to pile as Tennessee offers him today. Brings the total to roughly 20.
Oklahoma has offered Courtney Love today. Offers include Nebraska, Michigan State, Indiana, Ohio State, Illinois, USC, West Virginia, Bowling Green, Oklahoma.
I'm still considering him a Buckeye towards the end of his recruitment.
OL Evan Lisle still racking up offers. Alabama has offered him today. I am surprised still that we have not offered Lisle as of today.
Evan Lisle non-offer atm suprises me too since OL is a position of need.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Evan Lisle is an overdue offer that needs to be made. We need offensive lineman especially athletic ones like him who are lean and nasty. I just watched his highlight reel for the sake of curiosity and his run blocking skills are phenomenal. I played O line in high school and college and he consistently fires out lower then his opponent (probably better than 95% of the lineman I've seen) and at 6'6'' thats not always easy to do. Only thing critical I'd be on his run blocking is every now and then when he fires off he will stop his feet. His pass blocking looked pretty good too had once an a while would open his shoulders up which is a no no for an OT. But these are all things that can be fixed. The size is there, strength is there, and talent is there. The little details can be fixed this is a no brainer offer and I would hate to see him leave the state of Ohio because were slow playing him for out of state talent. If the talent is in ohio there is no need to slow play our home state boys in recruiting. Go Bucks!
I also saw WR Jaron Dukes a Columbus Ohio boy commited to scUM today 6'4 195 any reason we didn't recruit him real hard especially being inour backyard?
@otrain2416 I completely agree with you on Lisle. Why we haven't offered the #1 o-linemen in Ohio I'll never know. As far as Dukes goes, all I've heard was he was to slow (of course Trey Burke was to short and not as good as Shannon Scott *cough cough*)
Jaron was clocked at like a 4.6 I think, hes 6' 3", so hes more of a bigger type reciever.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Haven't heard much about this McNeil kid, just see that he's a 2 star. Does his offer imply the staff isn't as confident in Heuerman as we seem to think?
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
How does a Columbus kid commit to Michigan?? I don't care if Ohio State is recruiting you or not, have the decency to go elsewhere.
Hopefully offer to McCray or Lisle coming tomorrow.
DMC
Why does that matter? Not everyone in Ohio or even Columbus is an OSU fan. In case you've forgotten, Michigan is a very good school and has an extremely proud tradition of football. Of course I'm a Buckeye fan, but give respect when it is due.
Things just seem a little weird as to who are getting offers and who are not. 6 QBs have verbals, 11 RBs and only 5 OLs, one of whom we probably dont have a shot at in the first place (Tunsil). Saying Urban has a great track record is an understatement and I'm sure we'll end up with great kids. But as of today, he is unproven at tOSU and I think its ok to question him a little until the past Urban shows up in OH.

I actually think I saw something where Jaron said he grew up being a Michigan fan, so if that is true I'm sure he grew up wanting to play for Michigan.

Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
@OTrain- Even though we all would have liked to seen Lisle offered earlier, and I am very relieved that he finally got his offer, I highly doubt Lisle was upset at being "slow played"- when he was at the junior day at the end of January, Urban personally told him not to worry about getting an offer, that one would be coming. It's just official now.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Being a former Buckeye, I'll tell you that 99.999% of people under the age of 50 that hate Michigan are fans only. The players have a mutual respect for each other. Almost everyone on the teams have friends that play for the other so how could you hate them?
I agree "FormerBuck" --- my dad played in the 70s, and he echoes the same sentiment
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Kinda creepy when I bring up talk on Lisle he gets offered. I mean kid is getting ALOT of attention and needs to stay in Ohio. BOTTOM LINE, but I am glad to see that he has been offered.
Scout $ - First BCS Offer For Worley
I was reading some UM and Bama boards and they think Lisle's all Buckeye, so I guess I do too.
You've got to feel good about Lisle at this point. If you're an OH kid getting offered by Ohio State, you've got to be pumped because the buzz around Urban is incredible. God, it's going to feel good to at least start adding kids to the OL> Hopefully Pocic wants to wear that S & G too!
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
Offered RB Keyante Green has committed to UCLA, off the board
Has there been any news on if Lisle has offered a time line as to when he would like to make a decision?
Lisle has said he wants to visit Alabama and make a decision by his Senior year.
@Bassplayer7770 thanks for the update. Hopefully he's all buckeye like all the boards are saying, but we'll see. I would hate to see us lose the top linemen in Ohio two years in a row. We need to lock up our O-line (granted getting Dodson, Decker, Boren, etc, last year was a great start!).
The fact that the coaching staff is not offering scholarships at this point to most of the Ohio kids means very little. The coaching staff is in constant contact with these kids. The kids know exactly where they stand with OSU and how OSU feels about them. In a way, being as early as it is, if you're a fan or a player, you should respect the fact that OSU is actually putting effort into evaluating talent - as a player it makes you want it more. I think we all worked harder to "woo" our significant others before we were put on "scholarship."
Jasonbuck I get what you mean. We need to start recruiting the Ohio kids harder and offering them scholarships earlier if they deserve it. Last year we almost lost Decker solely on the fact we ignored our in state talent. I understand Urban is going after the best of the best but we do have some of the best of the best in Ohio. We need to put that fence back up around the state so we don't lose our talent. I'm all for going after the national talent but we can't give up our Ohio pipeline. Here are a list of studs in the state that have gone to other schools. Hicks, DePriest, Bolden, Spencer Ware ,Latwan Anderson. Also its not just Urban that has done this I feel like it started in around 2010 when some of our are top talent was either ignored or started to commit out of state. Like this year for example names pop out at me like McCray (no offer but had offers from Okl, S. Car, Mich), Thomas (Mich), Butt (Mich), Taco(Mich). My point is we have top notch talent in Ohio lets keep these boys in state. Go Bucks!
@Otrain We should take Gedeon, and Smith over McCray. Dymonte Thomas is a player we are after at the moment, Butt is a guy that won't get an offer since we are after two better TEs in Heuerman and Breneman. Also Charlton most likely wouldn't get an offer when we are after a guy like Tashawn as well as the fact that our Dline haul was huge last year. I'd be more worried about not offering guys like Lisle, which we just did, and Peterson.
O I was pissed about the Lisle non offer until yesterday if you read further back I had already said that I was just saying we had been lacking in our ohio guys these past few years. The only reason I through Butts name in there is because I figured Breneman was all Penn State I do hope we land Heuerman though he looked solid. Peterson definately needs an offer too I agree
McCray offered by Nebraska today
@OTrain2416, I agree with you on the fence needs to go back up around the buckeye state. I definitely agree with Urban going after top notch talent in some of these out of state guys, but there are definitely top notch guys here in Ohio. I guess the most distrubing trend to me is all these Ohio guys committing to scUM. Granted we can't take them all, but I don't want it to become a trend that top notch Top 10 Ohio guys are committing to them because we are going after "out of state talent". Now let me also say, that I have COMPLETE faith in Urban but I hope our national approach doesn't hinder our in state presence. I also suppose IMO that there's going to be more questions from us "the fans" until we see what a full and complete recruiting cycle looks like under Urban. I'm sure A LOT of the concerns going forward will be addressed over this cycle and we'll probably be laughing at ourselves come next National Signing Day!

Rivals$--Kimbrough talks recruiting, Indiana
Maybe Meyer is keeping really good contact with Ohio kids, but is offering some better out of state guys that he wants, and if they dont come through then he can offer the in-state guys. Not saying that is a good idea but looks like what he is doing. And also you can't always land top guys in Ohio if we don't have a real need for that position in that given class. And lets face it some guys that live in Ohio are TSUN fans, so some will go to them. I think he is doing a good job so far, I am not really sure we need a ton of OL in this class, we don't graduate many next year so I say he only needs 3 OT. will see how it all shakes out. Recruting is just getting started.
Since OSU is only looking to take 2 LBs (revealed in recent Catching Up With____), I'd say that's why they haven't offered McCray. I think Jaylon and Kimbrough may be the top two.
Recruitbuck, to my understanding, they haven't offered Kimbrough either... I do agree Smith will be a high priority for obvious reasons.
If he got Pocic,Bivin,Lisle and maybe another in state guy I think that would be a good OL class. We will have 14 OL on scholarship this season and we will only loose 1 guy in Fragel. So if he brings in 4 guys that is 17 OL on scholarship that seems like an awful lot.
Seems to me that Jaylon Smith and Anzalone are the top two LB priorities.
I think Jaylon goes to ND or Bama, so have to look at another top 2 after him.

May not be a popular opinion, but I don't much care where the hell the kids go to high school as long as Meyer always lands top notch players. Not to mention, there are plenty of Ohio Kids he's going to take, I mean this class has 4 recruits and 3 are from Ohio. I'd much rather see Urban bring in a full class and instead of taking 3 or 4, 3 star kids from Ohio use those schollies on 4 or 5 star out of state kids. The class will still be overwhelmingly Ohio laden, we'll just take chances on giving schollies to higher rated players.
It's not as if Urban is going to sign classes that are comprised of only a couple Ohio Kids and the rest kids from everywhere else. He's got probably the 2 best players from Ohio on board already. Many others will follow. If we want to be the best and win titles it's going to be by signing the best players. If Meyer would rather have Smith than McCray, then I trust that's the right decision.
@BJ Mullins... why do you think Jaylon isn't coming here? Early indications showed that he was very interested and also would like to play with his brother (here at OSU). I don't think anyone would concede him to Bama or ND yet...
Cause I couldn't go for three
I think he's somewhat of an ND fan growing up and really likes their academics and he talked very highly of Bama recently. He didn't have much to say about OSU and I think how the whole Rod Smith situation works out will impact his decision a lot.

Thats real good news. Michigan should be already filled up with OL. And I dont think we'll ever see the day Bucky Bielema gets a kid Urban wants. Listen to your parents!
Definitely great news on Pocic. UM is way too overloaded on the OL and Wisconsin isn't going to be taken seriously by anyone in the '13 class once Urban runs up the score next year

RE: Hill- Michael Hill (#70) is going to be a really big DT- He's young for his grade (only 16 right now) and already 6'3 315. IMO he lacks top end foot speed/speed in general. Not sure if he's going to get the attention he wants from tOSU though because in this class, tOSU is realistically only going to take 1 more DT and I think they're higher on Greg Webb (#78) who is a little smaller at 6'2 295, but he is very explosive- one of the Rivals guys described Webb as not being a traditional big DT body, but being more a compact mass of all muscle FWIW.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
What position are we recruiting Parker for?
I thought I read in the interview with Parker a while back that we wanted to bring him in as a receiver?
Parker plays mainly WR and S in high school, most likely going to be recruited as a WR
Thanks! And just by watching Bosa's highlight tape I can tell he's the type of kid who'll come across the table and choke you in a game of checkers.

He's not postponing it, just not having a press conference
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
The article even said it was a possibility that he moved his announcement up to the 7th instead of the 8th. The change is that he will simply call reporters on the phone instead of having the press conference rigamarole.
@ Alex/ Jason I'm still confused why we haven't offered McCray and we offered Love. I saw love posted a 4.92 40 at a combine (ESPN)and he himself has said he needs to work on his 40 time and vertical (second link). A 4.92 lazer would probably be around a 4.8 hand timed which is even slow for a ILB. I watched his highlight film that scouting ohio had an nothing really jumps out that he's a solid offer kind of guy. Granted I know we're recruiting Smith Anzolone and Gedeon hard and if we get 2 of them I'd be happy. Any thoughts

Regarding Mike McCray, I'm not sure what exactly Michigan sees in him that Ohio State does not, but it's going around that speed is an issue for Urban Meyer. Yeah, his 40 doesn't stand out, but neither does Courtney Love. Maybe it's closing speed or something. But the mass majority are saying that Meyer is looking for speed in the LB position.
Back to work tomorrow :)
Guys...the to offer/to not offer McCray thing is really beating a dead horse at this point. There is obviously something more Urban needs to see from him, no matter what any of us think.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
Agreed Pharmbuck
Garrett Sickels to PSU...don't think he had a committable offer anyway but solid get for the Lions
I've seen some question the Love offer looking at his 40 time. His Rivals profile shows a 4.6 40 time ( http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Courtney-Love-131517 ), and I thought he looked pretty good in his video.

If Urban and Co. don't take Zaire, I'll be ok with it. Zaire is a great athlete but look at Zaire's numbers---accuracy is NOT a strength. I still think Zaire will end up a Buckeye but when looking at the big picture, the #1 QB target in the '13 class has got to be JT Barrett.

Update on TE Jacob Matuska / Bishop Hartley
Has not been offered by OSU to date. Recently visited Michigan 2/19. Kid really wants to play TE in college. OSU wants him to gain weight & possibly play OT. Notre Dame is also a player here & Matuska grew up an Irish fan. ND lean, but if an OSU offer comes things could change. Great kid, great student.
Ive watched a few videos on Foster. Would absolutely LOVE to get this kid. Any more updates on when/who he plans to announce?
I don't believe in offering one kid to get another. Lots of kids say they would like to play together in college, but more often than not, they make the best decision for themselves. We'll have a good shot at Foster with or without Zaire. Meyer has QB's higher on the board with Barrett and Bailey ... and maybe to some extent Hodges. Zaire is a solid prospect but offering a prospect just to get another is a mistake.
dgrubbs - Foster has been quoted as saying he hates the recruiting process and would like to make a decision sooner rather than later.
I'd go as far as to say that Hodges might be higher than Bailey. Reminds me a bit of Cardale Jones, who is looking to get to a Tebow-esque weight.
Aaron Bailey will be playing WR most likely at the college level
@Bassplayer only reason I posted that Love time was that was a 40 time taken from a combine and suprisingly slow for the kids meyer recruits. The rivals 40 times are unofficial or posted by the players themselves (which could mean they're made up) unless they have a check next to them that they've been varified at an event.

He would give Mich 7 of the top 100
"Love my State, hate the football"
If Zaire commits to anywhre but OSU it won't be because OSU wanted him and couldn't land him. If Urban wants him, he's a Buckeye.
I agree on that Hayze...Not too concerned with the Alabama offer at all.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I dont like other schools coming in and offering, especially as big as Alabama. I am sorry, but even if you are a hard OSU lean, when offered by Alabama, its very hard to turn down.
Peoples minds change given enough down time to think about a decisions. 'Flips' happen all the time.
I am not saying its going to happen, I just hate other big tier programs coming into the picture. But, so goes the recruiting process, which is why I lov it so much. Cut throat.... I got faith in UFM...
Remember Evan Lisle. Got offered by Bama, verballed here the next week.
I know Lisle's decision was just after 'Bama, not everyone has the exact same level of committment right out the gate. Again, I am saying that I do not like top tier programs coming in and offering, especially with no 'committable' offer.
Like I said:
"I am not saying its going to happen, I just hate other big tier programs coming into the picture. But, so goes the recruiting process, which is why I lov it so much. Cut throat.... I got faith in UFM..."
IMO, Saban has no intention of signing Zaire. This offer is meant to put pressure on Urban to fill up the QB spot and keep him away from other guys that Saban might actually want.
@AHH SATURDAY I think that's got a lot of merit. It's not like Saban has ever been shy about showing kids the door if they don't measure up to his expectations. I'm sure Zaire would be out in the cold if Saban found somebody better, commitment or not.
I hope so. I no Zaire is straight Buckeye. But crazier things have happened, and I would love to sign this kid to S&G

Regarding the McNeil article, I summarized it in my daily Quick Bits comment among everything else you mentioned.
@BJ Mullens
Regarding Munger, I am 80% sure he is going to be recruited as a DT. I have him listed as a DL anyways on the offer list above.

Not a big surprise. Texas kids don't like leaving Texas all that much. With Baylor and TCU on the way up, things will get even harder to pull them from that state, unless the major in-state schools pass on them. It's going to be a tough fight for Barrett and others. I read an update a while back about MacKensie Alexander getting offered by Bama and LSU. He said those are the two schools he was waiting on and being offered by them will change his thinking. I think the Ohio State will have an up hill battle for Alexander.
Green retweeted that Clemson was out in front tweet by Farrell.
1. I wouldn't worry too much about Green. Recruits always love the last school they visited. He's a Buckeye fan at heart. I still think he's ours to lose. Just wait til he gets to campus and meets Urban.
2. Wouldn't surprise me to see Hill commit within the month. The fact that we were the favorite before we offered and now he wants to get up here ASAP just screams committment to me.
@Genestarwind
Just wanted to say I appreciate they updates. It's put together very nicely and is a "to the point" summary.
Ty Isaac is visiting Michigan this weekend and Green is visiting next weekend. Rumors out that Michigan is only taking one more HB, even though most thought it would be two. If Isaac commits this weekend, Green is probably all yours (doubt he would even bother making the trip). If not, I'm not saying Green is heading to Michigan. I would say that we're going to land at least one of Isaac, Green, or D. Smith.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Isaac will not be committing this weekend. You can take that to the bank.
I just read that Gedeon is planning to visit Stanford on Easter weekend. Some had thought he may be a lock to scUM, so I thought I'd post this here.
@Recruitbuck
All I can say is you're probably right, but I'm hoping you're wrong.
@Bassplayer7770
Many were thinking Gedeon was a silent commit because Hoke told Anzalone we are full at LB. EJ Levenberry has his spot if he wants it and Dorian O' Daniel has Michigan at the top of his list. It all depends on how many LBs they want, but no one sees it being more than 3. If it's only two, then it's McCray and Levenberry.

Trubisky got offered by Bama
Interesting. Saban has taken an interest in Urbans QB offers
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Is it just me...or does it feel like Saban has a "ax to grind" with Urban? Offering a kid from Mentor? I know Depriest went to Alabama, but they really haven't had a big recruiting presence in Ohio. Now all of a sudden, here they come? Just feels weird...
Edit. Just saw it was already posted.
I think Ohio is loaded with QB talent for the 2013 class. Saban is just joining every other coach in the country in offering the talented group from Ohio. Zaire,Trubisky, Chapman, and Kempt are all top notch prospects. I just wonder if Zaire or Trubisky have commitable offers at OSU or Bama?
Unreal that Trubisky got offered by Bama. May be trying to pressure Urban to take his safety recruits rather than prized ones.
I think Alabama has offered every high school football player in the country. You know they wouldn't take most of the kids they offer. They just offer and if kids commit that they end up not wanting, they will rescind the offer.
Anyone visiting this weekend?

Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Out of curiosity, was Desmond Howard & Charles Woodson ever offered by Cooper (maybe Bruce for Howard)?
Quick Bits 3/15
Rivals $ - UM, Ohio State high in picture for stud RB
@BLOCKOHBUCKEYE - Not sure about Howard, but Woodson was offered, but OSU never had a shot. His high school guidance counselor was a counselor at my school when I was in high school. She was VERY influential in his life while he was in high school. She said that he was a michigan fan growing up, and he never really considered OSU. She was a huge michigan fan, so she was very happy he went up there and definitely helped him with that decision.
@BINGOCAT - There are a lot of reasons more kids from Ohio go up north than kids from there come down here to play. One reason is that not many kids from michigan grow up Ohio State fans, but a lot of kids from Ohio grow up michigan fans. Don't forget that tsun is about an hour from Ohio, so a lot of kids from Northern Ohio are as close, if not closer to them than they are Columbus. I grew up in NW Ohio and I would say it is probably 40% OSU fans, 30% michigan fans, and 30% are fans of whoever has been winning recently. Cleveland area also has a large faction of michigan fans.
Another reason is that michigan has nowhere near the high school talent that Ohio has, so there are not many kids from up there that OSU would really want to go after. Ohio, on the other hand, has enough top level talent that OSU cannot keep everyone in state.

MGoBlog posters now saying Ty Isaac would still be welcomed if he wants to commit too but if not he is *surprise* being labeled most likely a bust after the D. Smith announcement. Last week prior to Isaacs visit to AA, Isaac was being heralded as a can't miss most awesome back in the universe as they thought he would commit during his visit. That label is now attached to Smith after he is the one that actually commited to them. I know we do this to some degree but in no way the depth Ann Arbor Community College and MGoBloggers exalt these kids. It is great for a laugh.
De'veon Smith is a good pick up, but I think he had said he grew up a Michigan fan, so not really suprising there.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Not a surprise that we got Smith. There was some chatter earlier in the week that he wanted to take some more visits.
@Fortmeyer
The majority of us still want Isaac, most of which feel that if we miss out on him because of Smith committing, that we may have played our cards wrong. Isaac is still our biggest target and I still think we'll get him. Just because some people that comment say they wanted Smith more, or Smith is more of a bruiser than Isaac doesn't mean that is the consensus. Not to mention it's St. Patty's Day and a lot of people are hammered right now.
It's no different than the Buckeye fans that will say that they never wanted Smith and that you don't need him...the same thing that will happen when Isaac, Treadwell, Poggi, and Levenberry commit.

Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
@Hail Smith was a big commitment for UM. And what you said about the players and the response that you will hear from both sides is spot on. OSU and UM will both have top 5 classes which is great for the rivalry and the B1G in general. The B1G has not been looked upon as a top conference for too long. Hoke and Myer are bringing an excitement back to the rivalry, but it will never be the same as Woody and Bo. That was war.
As mentioned at the end of my post, we tend to be extra positive about our guys we get as well. The point attempted to be made was not to start dissing other recruits in advance of them possibly going somewhere else. MGo regularly does that to recruits they think they will not sign. Last week Isaac was the best in the land and after getting Smith to commit he (Isaac) will be pegged as unwanted and a possible bust due to the fact that he most likely will not end up at UM. We rarely do that here. You can say what you want.
I personally wasn't impressed with Smith so I'm more than ok with him being off of the board. I want Green and really won't be thrilled with anyone else (other than Isaac who is a LONG shot for us). I hope this might sway Isaac away from Mich a little more though.
And if Mich end up getting Isaac, Treadwell, Poggi, and Levenberry, they would almost be a lock in having the #1 class.

DL Landon Stokes
Gene, I did a little research into Landon Stokes because I was not familar with him, and it seems like he does not have an OSU offer: http://ohiostaterecruiting.blogspot.com/2012/03/quick-landon-stokes-update.html
Interesting find there Bucks, yet I don't know how credible this site really is. I've never seen this site before.
Scout has an offer listed for Stokes among other sites except for Rivals. He doesn't even have a profile on 247. Until I hear from a better source (Alex for example) then I will take him off of the offer list.
Thanks for sharing that info though.
no offer for Stokes
Thank you sir ;)

Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Yeah like scUM will be moving the O-linemen over to the bb team to fill the open spots. Congrats on your victory tonite btw....oh wait, that was The Ohio State University going to the Final Four! And scUM still sucks!
Hail is getting more and more combative on here...did the loss to the real Ohio hurt that bad? We'll be just fine come NSD and all the scUM talk will stop just like it did after Ohio beat them.
