With Stan Drayton moving to RB coach, doesn't that largely take Hinton out of the picture anyway?
^ Unless they make him another position coach, which I'm not a fan of after seeing how Drayton faired in his stint at WR.
He has coached other positions, just reporting is all.
Has Ohio roots... worked under Earle Bruce. Coached mostly RBs but has worked with WR, DL, LB, and TE.
Any big RBs he has produced?
No big names but to name a few, Armando Allen, Cierre Wood, Isaiah Pead and Jacob Ramsey, Richard Hall
Hinton was a high school coach for many years before heading to UC. He coached at Marion Harding in the late 80s and 90s. It was my high school, though I didn't play for him. We had a run of good RBs during that time.
I was really surprised to see his name come up on the radar, actually. He had a good run at UC and ended up heading to ND with Kelley and now it looks like he'll get his shot.
At a minimum, he's another guy that has deep roots in the OHSAA coaching system and should be able to help with the high school coache's network even more.

Brandon Castel from The Ozone tweeted that multiple sources are saying Hinton will be our new TE coach.
Wow, this staff is really shaping up to be pretty incredible.
vacuuming sucks
Brandon Castel says he is being told by multiple sources that Ohio native Tim Hinton will leave Notre Dame and join OSU coaching staff as TE coach. Castel is the lead writer for theozone.net. Brandon has solid sources and doesn't report something unless its a sure thing.
Rumors about Hinton coming to Ohio State have been out there since Meyer was hired so its nice to see he's now joining the staff. Hinton was a grad assitant with Meyer at OSU and spent his entire coaching career in Ohio until following Brian Kelly to ND from Cinci. They are close friends and infact Meyer has offered Hinton a job everywhere he's been but Hinton always declined due to family reasons. This will be a blow to ND as he is a very good recruiter and the main recruiter in Ohio with his ties to the state.
My guess is he will have other responsiblities such as ST Coach or recruiting coordinator. This also tells me LJ SR from PSU will not be joining the staff because we only have 2 spots open. Unless Hinton is coming to be OL coach and this dosent appear to be the case. So with Hinton on board we only have 1 spot left and that is OL coach. I think Meyer already has his man and is waiting until after the bowl.
Offensive Coaches
QB - Tom Herman (Offensive Coordinator)
RB - Stan Drayton
WR - Zach Smith
TE - Tim Hinton
OL - ?
Defensive Coaches
DL - Luke Fickell (Co-Defensive Coordinator- calls plays on defense)
LB - Mike Vrabel ( Possible that Fickell and Vrabel share coaching the entire front 7 together with Vrabel coaching DE/OLB and Fickell coaching DT/MLB)
DB - Taver Johnson
DB - Everett Whithers (Co-Defensive Coodinator/Ast. Head Coach)
Special Teams Coach - Zach Smith or Tim Hinton?
Really liking this staff. Great mix of experience and youth and Ohio ties and familiarity with Meyer and recruiting prowess and new blood.
vacuuming sucks
I like Studrawa for that OL spot...other than initial buzz, I just think it makes sense that the OL spot has yet to be announced and Urban said some spots not announced out of respect to coaches in bowl games....just makes too much sense and he is the INTERIM OC at LSU before we go into that...could still be a co-OC or something like that in Cbus
Greg Studrawa just agreed to a contract extension and promotion in title to full time OC with LSU.
GENESTARWIND--
I have heard that, but not seen it reported by any site. Do you have a link? Not challenging you, I have just only heard it as a rumor
Tim Hinton is a Marionaire and coached the best team to ever come from the county, the 1998 Marion Harding Presidents. Dude is a BOSS.
From everything I've read, he has not signed the contract.
The story has no legs at this givin time, it's being kept quiet. It will be known for sure after bowl season has come to an end. I have heard rumors as stated above and that Greg hasn't come into contact with Meyer. You can't take my word for it though.
Now that ND's bowl game is over, any news on Hinton either coming or not coming to join Urban's staff?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
His decision should be made public sometime real soon.
I can't wait till we beat the yellow and blue next year!
A fool and his money are soon parted.I would pay anyone a lot of money to explain that to me. -Homer Simpson
Bill Greene tweet, Hinton to OSU done deal...TE coach. Great hire!
