Did anyone watch the UNC/Missouri game? I wasn't able to but I saw the score and it looked like their defense got trashed. Was the defense that bad or was Mizzou's offense that good?
I saw the first half, by the end of which Mizzou was up by 3 TDs. And all I can say is: North Carolina's defense sure didn't impress me. Maybe he has been focused on his (interim) head coaching responsibilities and hasn't been able to focus properly on his defense??? (Let's hope.)
I had heard UNC had also suffered a lot of injuries this season, but I don't know for sure. I would hope the talent level at tOSU will be much higher, and Fickell will also be involved in calling the D, so I'd like to think (at least) two heads are better than one.
Let's just hope Tom Herman's Offense doesn't perform so poorly in their bowl game...
I don't think we can judge UNC's defense or Wither's abilities strictly on that bowl game or for that matter strictly on this season. He, like Fickell, inherited Butch Davis' team and coaching staff which is very difficult. As for the bowl, Mizzou's offense looks good with the young mobile qb in the spread offense. And UNC's offense is complete crap which does nothing to help their defense.
So with his head coaching duties, would you judge Fickells defensive coaching abilities to the way the OSU defense performed in the last few games? Or knowing Luke and his situation would you say it is just the situation he was in and that he was unable to be fully "hands on" the OSU defense as in the past and it showed? I would think the latter. Withers situation is probably very similar. I trust Meyers insight on assistants.
You guys have to be kidding me. You're going to base the guy's capabilities off of one game? If you have this mindset, Tressel should've been fired after we were destroyed by UF. The guy had great defenses at UNC that put out a lot of NFL talent in a short period of time.

Real fans stay for Carmen.
Well the talent level at UNC isn't that great to begin with plus it looked to me like his players quit on him. Just my opinion.
