If the BCS puts Bama in the title game versus LSU it would be a precedent set 6 years too late. I have no doubt that Bama is the second best team in the nation, and I also have no doubt that in 2006 Michigan was the second best team in the country. Michigan was shafted from the title game, thus putting Bama in the game would be out of line and not fair to the 2006 Wolverines. It is very rare that I will use Michigan in a good light to prove a point, but this point needs to be made. Lloyd Carr was our nemesis, but he was all class when it came to the subject of BCS placement. Nick Saban is the absence of class and he will be lobbying for a spot in the title game. Even though I hope that the BCS doesn't make a mockery of this, I have a strong feeling they will.

Giving Michigan in 2006 a rematch wouldn't have been fair. It simply isn't fair to the rest of the conferences to say, "no matter how hard you worked all year, your conference just isn't good enough for you to play for the national title." It's bullshit, and it's a game I won't watch if this happens.
What if Michigan won that rematch? Are they the sole national champions, despite our equal record and split of two games with them? That wouldn't seem quite fair. Of course, if a playoff were in place, then it would be.
Same thing though with LSU and Alabama. If Alabama wins the rematch, then you either have a split championship SEC lovefest, or we have to listen to LSU people bitch about the whole damn thing, while watching a not-so-deserving Alabama team celebrate.

This has been my problem with conference championships as well. If Wisconsin wins in Indy, then who actually won the initial B1G? Technically they've just split two games. They really need to play a third game to determine the champion.
And I think records will back this up (too lazy to do the leg-work). Unless one of the teams dominated in the first game, a second game benefits the loser of the first game the most. They usually correct the problems that prevented a win in the first place.
So my prediction for next week is Wisky and then Bama for the NC (should the rematch occur).
