What about Fickell now?

It has been well-debated as to what OSU's Athletic Department should do with the head coaching job after the season.  Some have said that Fickell should be given a chance to hire his own staff, and see what he can do then.  Many others have said that he's not quite ready for this, yet, and have suggested going after big name coaches, such as Urban Meyer.  We all have agreed that he is a great man and great representative for this university.

I personally fell on the "he's not ready" side of the coin.  However, I'm not so sure after that big win Saturday night.  Maybe I'm just reacting too quickly, but let's say that we actually win out.  We beat IU, Purdue, Penn State, MICHIGAN, and by the grace of the college football gods, someone else beats Penn State along the way.  We win the division and go to the Big Ten championship game at 9-3.  God forbid we win that game and go to the Rose Bowl, and are once again Big Ten champions.  Or even if we don't, we end up with a pretty good New Year's Day bowl at 9-4, or 9-3 if Penn State wins the division at 7-1 in B1G play.  If that happens, how do we NOT offer Luke the head coaching job?

Tressel was 7-5 in his 1st year as HC.  Cooper was 4-6-1.  Woody was 5-7!  Those guys were all successful head coaches before coming to OSU.  Luke has never been a head coach, and has been thrown into a very difficult situation.  If we can still win 9 or even 10 games despite all of that, and still contend for a Big Ten championship, how do you not offer him the job?
