Is it too early to start singing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead"?
I have been thinking about creating a Fake Bruce Hooley twitter account just to see if I can get more than @BHOOLZ's pitiful 1,100 or so followers. Who's coming with me?

Update me. I don't live in Columbus or even Ohio for that matter so what's going on now with that jack ass?
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
from now on refer to yourself as Loose Stooley.
He hasn't been on the air the past two days and there is all sorts of speculation brewing that he has either been let go, or quit. He has made some cryptic comments in recent days via his Twitter feed that seem to indicate this was a possibility.
I am not internet savvy enough to figure out to cut and past tweets like the 11W crew does from time to time, but if you are on Twitter and care to amuse yourself for a while search @BHOOLZ and see all the crazy chatter.
It's almost as ridiculous as @CharlieSheen.
I haven't listened to the fan since Hooley ran his mouth. My Dad always told me to think before I spoke and to never try to let me mouth write a check my @$$ can't check.
The guy was nothing more than a hack writer when he got the job at 1460. Like all writers, he thinks he can say whatever he wants with no repercussions. He may still be on the air, maybe suspended or maybe fired. Either way, if I was a local company that had advertising for that station I would think seriously about pulling it.
You guys need to get away from the 4letter. Try 1230. They have a couple clowns on there in the morning (Jack Trudeau being one), but they dont play kissy face.
do tell..what is it that was said?
I don't know if he's said anything to warrant a suspension because I couldn't stand Tooley before this recent garbage, but I'll throw this out there:
sometimes the radio hosts just quietly serve suspensions. Then come back and go on with their lives. I know Riccordoti "The Common Man" has pretty said without actually saying it himself that he's done a few in his time in Columbus.

No more Hooley
"I said Thursday that when I walk out the door at The Fan, I will do so with my honesty and integrity intact. I have great peace about that. I will leave the verdict to He who judges justly."
This is part of an email I received from him. Looks like to me he either anticipated leaving or knew he was
"No more Hooley"?
Is this confirmed somewhere? Not seeing it upon my first quick search...
Class of 2010
Maybe he's moving to Tenn to be with Kirk and hate on Pryor and Tress.
I think Rothman, Neft, Dmitrious Stanley are awesome. I also think Clay Hall has a voice and face for radio too. There are plenty of good sports guys here - it's hard to imagine why they kept Hooley anyways (if they did fire him).
I might not agree with the Common Man and the Torg all the time but they are the most entertaining. Especially with Krenzel thrown into the mix. I want them to bring back Rant of the Day.
So I got curious and Tweeted Neft and asked him if Hooley has moved on... he replied
"The truth: I have no idea what's going on...it's a question for my bosses. I have enough to worry about keeping my stuff in order!"
I like the guy - if he takes over for Bruce, I'd be happy for him but sad because I don't usually get to listen during those hours.
Integrity is more than just being right... Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Dude cast a lot of stones at other human beings who were flawed or had made mistakes... I'll just say I find it interesting he is apparently so confident in his standing with "He who judges justly."
Can somebody enlighten me on what he said originally that may or may not have gotten him fired?
I think I stopped listening to his show even before this...Actually I stopped once Spielman left.
In all honesty, I only listened to about 10 minutes of his show (almost by accident) on the Wednesday following the Tressel/Smith/Gee press conference. My summary of Hooley's ranting in that 10 minute segment: (paraphrased) "Jim Tressel is a cheat... Jim Tressel is a liar... I am ashamed to be associated with the Ohio State University as an alum... I feel that the value of my diploma has been reduced as a result of Jim Tressel's actions."
I will admit that is is possible that he is right that Jim Tressel may have knowingly cheated and lied about it. (I'm not sure we have all the facts yet to be so certain to draw this conclusion however. We'll know when we know.)
That said, I question what value Hooley brought to the conversation by gleefully spewing his "opinion" on Tressel over the airwaves in central Ohio (and then subsequently all over the country as a guest on other local and national programs) while at the same time disparaging Ohio State University as a whole, and suggesting that one's academic achievements as a graduate of Ohio State are now lessened because of some dumb stuff that went on in the football program. His lambasting of OSU has been ridiculously over the top, and possibly has had as much (or more) negative impact on the reputation of the university than the dumb stuff the players and coach perpetrated in the first place.
Hooley apparently continued his harrangue of Tressel/Smith/Gee and the university as a whole into the next couple programs until apparently (per Pam's e-mail posted elsewhere on 11W) management at 97.1 sat him down and gave him a talking to.
If you venture over to Twitter.com and look at his timeline of tweets (@BHOOLZ) you can get a sense of what he was saying and a sampling of the feedback he received from members of the community on both sides of the issue.
Official.
@BHOOLZ: It's official. I've left 97.1 The Fan by mutual agreement. Details on the blog at brucehooley.com
So the listeners and station mutually agreed Hooley had to go. ;)
That's a shame. Now, go join Herbie in Nashville
Tressel screwed up in a calculated, blatant, and Machievillian way in order to not risk harm to his 2010 football season when his team was rated in the top 5. He got caught with the wrong color paint on his Mustang's fender after leaving the scene of an accident.
Hooley, although not one of my favorites, was one of the very few with the stones to tell the truth. Not so smart perhaps, as his employer, John F. Wolfe, has the most to lose by allowing the truth to tarnish his huge investment in the James Tressel brand of OSU football. Bruce Hooley is the poster child for the adage -- "the truth shall set you free."
Truth is Tressel isn't the paragon of virtue all you Buckeye diehards with blinders want to believe... but perhaps a Santa with a sweater vest, a bit of a fake beard, and feet of clay..... and now a five game suspension that could most probably become worse when the NCAA comes knocking.
Cross Village, you get quote of the year. No, really.
"Bruce Hooley is the poster child for the adage -- 'the truth shall set you free.'"
Just brilliantly hilarious. Bravo, bravo!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Tressel being a great man has never been the issue in this case. He is, and there is many people that can confirm this for you. Tressel the coach is the issue, but Hooley made it Tressel the man and took a "holier than thou" approach which is a big no no. Hooley took that approach, and a lot of people went hunting for his head. He dug his own grave.

Cross Village: I think it's safe to say we all know Tressel did wrong, and most of us probably believe he did wrong knowingly and willfully. That's not the arguement against Hooley's actions after the information came to light last Tuesday. It's they way Hooley happily trashed everyone involved: Tressel, Smith, Gee, the University, other reporters at the press conference who asked questions not up to Hooley's standards, and he did so repeatedly and on a personal level, and I believe that is what caused him to end up in the place he is in. He trashed Ohio State University not just here in central Ohio, but nationally as well. The premature end of his career at 97.1 The Fan has little to do with fans with blinders - you are smarter than that, and we are smarter than that. Hooley is just not a good fit for 97.1 The Fan's audience (and perhaps more importantly it's sponsors) and that has been apparent for YEARS.
