I have a possible scenario for a new playoff system grabbing bits from the high school and pro formats. First off, all regular season games would be required to be completed by Nov. 30th. Use the current BCS formula to come up with your top 8 teams. The #1 ranked team would play the #8 team, the #2 team would play the #7 and so on. These playoffs would begin the first week in Dec. The higher ranked team would get to play on their home field. You continue this untill you are down to your final 2 teams. The remaining 6 teams are then eligible for the January Bowl games (so as to not do away with or disrupt them.) The top two teams from the playoff format would then play for the BCS National Championship on or about Jan 7th.
