Not one to sling mud, but...

I can't even stomach the Bucknuts forums anymore. All it is is bitching about Tressel, Bollman, and Heacock. And every other farking thread is about how inept our defense is and how miserable Saine and Herron are. Also, a common thread topic about how Hall and Berry should be starters. Its gotten pretty worthless. This blog/forum is way better IMHO.

Why, thank you.

While IMHO I agree that this site is better (much better) than anything out there, I have noticed an increase in the hatemongering, name-calling, and overall "miserable fans" (that was a joke) on this site.  Maybe it's not the site but the people -- because the cold weather and white death is almost upon us?  I know I'm pretty pissed off that Michigan hasn't lost yet and I might as well blame that on Saine running right at defenders while at the same time I ignore his awesome catching ability and his tight rope walking, fancy feet down the side lines SPEED.

I have noticed an increase in douchery on this site as well.  I get the sense there are just some in the ranks that aren't happy unless they are miserable.  That's all I can figure.  I made a comment yesterday about it on one of the posts.  I don't think everyone should just be happy and cheery about how things are going all the time and not have concerns, but honestly the negativity and self loathing reminds me of some of the crap I've seen about the Bengals and Reds the last 10 years.  I can understand those comments, though, those teams have largely been terrible in that stretch.

On here sometimes, you wouldn't know that this program is in one of the greatest stretches in it's history.  Again, I'm not saying don't ever get frustrated, but man let's enjoy what we have right now.  How intolerable will the comments be when this run is over and we have a couple of down years?

It is one thing to "complain" about our beloved Buckeyes to each other.  As humans we aren't happy unless we are bitchin' about something.  It is completely different to complain to others.  Case in point.  Last year my father-in-law was complaining to a friend of his, who happens to be a fan of the Illini, about Tressel and how bad tOSU is.  "Kenny" look at him and told him to shut the hell up.  Us complaining about the Buckeyes to anyone else is like someone complaining that their Lamborghini is too fast.

We should realize these guys are 18-22 year old boys playing a game.  With that said, I hope the defense can shore up the secondary before Saturday;)

I agree,

The I guess I just see things being much better than others. There is a possibility that we are watching the greatest coach the program has had lead the team to battle with possibly the greatest player to ever play at Ohio State and people arent' happy.  Watching the games so far this year, there appears to be no one playing much better than the Buckeyes right now.

I know most of us don't feel like the sky is falling, or that this team is doomed and will disappoint us, but I just wish the negativity would go away.  The Michigan Blogs are more optimistic as of late.

Do you think we still have a Cooper hangover ten years later?  As Buckeye fans we are always waiting for the other shoe to drop.  That shoe could be an injury, looking passed a patsie (i.e. '09 Purdue, or '98 Sparty), a complete collapse in the bowl game, or something else.  This is my favorite time of the year, but I am also as nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory.  I would love to have the knowing confidence that the Buckeyes will be hoisting the crystal football in January, but history prevents it.

Or, Doc, the other "shoe to drop," in the 'Shoe, could be a Shoelace.

Like Shoelace dropping from getting the holy sh*t knocked out of him?  Then yes.

Regarding the name-calling and heated arguments, you're going to have some of that, but at the same time, we're hoping the "must be logged-in to comment" system kind of helps police things.

On the radar is a karma/points system, too.

Again, I was not trying to start a this blog/forum is better than BuckNuts blah blah blah. Just pointing out that the forum members there are always focused on one or two (silly) issues that's we as fans have no control over and its beyond recockulous at this point. There are literally 6 differents threads with the same members expressing the same sentiments on the same topic. Another thing that has frustrated me is everything on Bucknuts now requires "premium access" to view whereas before, when I would log in there were some good reads still accessible to the non-premium (paying) forum members. Not anymore. Even the BWB emails can't even be read completely without premium access. Again, not flaming here, just expressing my gratitude to Jason and the other 11W staff for having great (and free blogs) and a great forum so far. Now if we could just get a but more on the recruiting front.... : )
