Read the full article for the analysis, but this is the summary of the proposal:

The American Football Coaches Association is forwarding a proposal to the NCAA that would allow players to participate in up to four games of a season without burning their redshirt year. If passed, theoretically, a coach could unleash his touted four-star freshman running back in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

I am 100% in favor of this rule.    Four main reasons:

1. As the season has gotten longer than ever before, adding "extra" roster spots would be great for injury and depth purposes.

2. They would also increase interest in fans of teams that are 4-6 and can start building for the future instead of watching a "wasted" year

3. Could increase interest in non-playoff bowl games if you want to see the new star QB or RB.

4. Holgorsen's example of a freshman who wasn't ready and "shits down his leg" is probably more common than we as fans realize.  He shouldn't lose an entire year if goes in for a game or two in September and finds out he's in over his head.
