I see anything other than the playoffs becoming increasingly irrelevant. More players will sit out to avoid in jury; you only have to roll the tape on Jayln Smith. Add in the mandatory ticket buys & the only compelling reason to go is increased practice time. The bowls will revert to what they used to be - glorified exhibitions. We used to use them as a measure of conference strength. With players sitting out & the media excusing poor performance for disinterest, that will no longer be the case. I don't think expanding the bowls for more playoff games is the answer; it is clear the Presidents don't want to extend the season. Long term, I see the number of bowls shrinking to only those that can survive without mandatory ticket buys. Power Five conferences will maintain tie-ins to the detriment of all others.
